Landless2029 ,

This is really sad.

My main machine is running a Asus motherboard. 12 years old and still games fine.

Landless2029 , (edited )

I don't get it

Edit:

Ok thanks I get it now.

People with student loans are mad there are loan forgiveness programs.

Landless2029 ,

Nailed it. Thanks.

Landless2029 ,

Thanks I already got it.

Landless2029 ,

This would fix a boatload of issues and break down Verizon/Comcast into service vs infrastructure companies.

It will never happen.

Both companies would put forth a staggering amount of money into lobbying to kill this on top of all the politicians they already "donated" to.

It's sickening.

Landless2029 ,

It takes about 45 min to hit REM sleep. Which is the point that you'd wake up MORE tired.

30 min max is key for naps

Landless2029 ,

I use it for Xmas shopping and for when I don't want a site to auto login with any of my sessions.

Landless2029 ,

I do this as well for work stuff. Multiple tenants and customers. It's great.

Landless2029 ,

I think it should be a sliding scale.

Standard property tax on owner occupied home.

Landlord tax on additional home/unit. (Like vacation home).

Additional fee for vacant home/unit. Serious one like 20-50% market rate of unit per month vacant. This helps with company owned units and foreign bodies buying up real estate and hoarding it.

Additional fee/tax per extra unit owned. DISMANTLE REAL ESTATE INVESTMENT FIRMS. This would cause them to sell off homes.

Use proceeds of these taxes and fees explicitly for rental assistance/home buying programs.

Landless2029 ,

This is me now... I'll finally be able to enjoy gaming again once I die.

Landless2029 ,

I've had a CEO like that. I call it the sunshine and smoke up your ass meeting.

Landless2029 ,

You can disable or streamline that stuff with either group policy or registry keys.

I used to do the same work (several years ago) and I started researching fixes and writing scripts to speed up my work.

Make a to do list of what your computer setup process is. Figure out the earliest you can launch a script (netshare or usb). Then start writing scripts for your tasks.

Installing apps, file transfers and system configs.

Landless2029 ,

But... clickbait and drama~~~

You should know people only read headlines!

Landless2029 ,

I'm talking about supporting an American enterprise environment that handles medical patient data. No Linux workstations really. Easier to comply with HIPAA that way.

Is it convoluted BS? Sure why not. But Microsoft services are really sticky once you get integrated at a large scale (5k workstations plus over 100 servers).

Landless2029 ,

Because you're a level 1~2 technician hired in to support an enterprise windows environment and you have no choice.

Roku has patented a way to show ads over anything you plug into your TV (arstechnica.com)

A patent application from the company spotted by Lowpass describes a system for displaying ads over any device connected over HDMI, a list that could include cable boxes, game consoles, DVD or Blu-ray players, PCs, or even other video streaming devices. Roku filed for the patent in August 2023 and it was published in November...

Landless2029 ,

Roku would just start selling the televisions well below cost or even free since they make WAY more money from ADs.

Landless2029 ,

Circuits?

How would you homebrew a smart washer into HA?

Landless2029 ,

Using a smart plug that measures wattage makes the most sense.

Landless2029 ,

I like the wattage sensor since you can also monitor energy use and it's applicable to more devices. Just need to set thresholds.

Landless2029 ,

"You need to have money to make money."

This strategy also includes knowledge.

I didn't learn this from my parents or school. Only later in life I learned about investments thanks to the internet.

Landless2029 ,

Sounds like a good prospect to try and get lineage on it. Just need to see if anyone has tried.

I had this upvoted before. Seems it was a comic strip about how comics are so easily accessible and people are ungrateful.

Then someone the title and pic changed...

    Landless2029 ,

I'm not even a linux user. Just here to learn. Windows is my daily driver for work and play...

Still all my printers are brother lasers.

My oldest is around 10 years old still running on the same toner... Picked out of the trash from an office move even.

    Landless2029 ,

    I've seen it ages ago...

scrolled down most of the way and noped out before the jump. Don't need that shit at 1am before bed.

    Landless2029 ,

Whatsapp uses the singal encryption protocols which is E2EE. As far as if Meta is still scraping info from the app side... can't say.

    Landless2029 ,

Yep. I just looked it up.

I assumed it was like windows page file but it's ramdisk.

    Landless2029 ,

My go to is a refurbished slim mini pc. Like a dell or HP for sub $100

    Landless2029 ,

I just make a bookmarks folder and right click (open all bookmarks)...

    Landless2029 ,

Holy crap that's actually a fantastic image in my head...

Some people would think it's a religion cause linux isn't a household name.

To add to this there is also a program to get free home internet as well since you need the internet to find a job nowadays.

    ...

And it ran out of funding!!

    Landless2029 ,

    Another newbie here.

It's worse when you go to bed and get your clarity as you're trying to sleep.

Now you gotta decide if you wanna wake up, stay up or get up... I try to settle for writing a note.

    Landless2029 ,

    Camera?

Like a Webcam camera? What's the use case? Can you map the pins to a SPC like a raspi or ardrino?

    Landless2029 ,

Shoes are different I recall my athletic coach in school told me to replace sneakers every 6 months due to the wear down of the interior foam.

He was right. Bo matter the brand the insides wear out. So I got arch support inserts for my footwear and I use them until the tread wears out now.

    Landless2029 ,

Agreed on boots. But I specifically mentioned sneakers.

Work boots and hiking boots can last a decade. You can retread them at a cobbler even.

    Landless2029 ,

I buy sneakers still but I focus on well reviewed runners. They're light, breathable and usually have treads to last.

With a foot insert they last me a few years.

    Landless2029 ,

The American shoe store Payless tried to get away from this crap.

They stopped doing the raise and lower price model everyone else does and lowered all shoes to '"everyday low prices"

It failed horribly. They went back to raising prices and slashing prices and sales went up again.

It has to do with the shopper mindset. Everyone wants a deal.

    Landless2029 ,

I feel like it's too fast. Could've been a coincidence. I'd have changed the ending.

    Landless2029 ,

See I'm salary but I'm forced to put in 8 hrs a day. Even if I have no work to do. It sucks.

    Landless2029 ,

I really hate what they've done with the product.

But due to the low price point VR has taken off and loads of parents got it for thier kids. That means more Devs have made games and more competition making headsets.
