MrScottyTay ,

I go back to Reddit now from time to time. Mostly to ask specific questions in communities that are niche and don't exist on here. They are the only good interactions I see that are just as good as here. Elsewhere it's just different. I've not been able to put my finger on why, myself like. But it's definitely not the same.

MrScottyTay ,

If there was a relevant one here I'd post here for sure. Reddit is a last resort or if I really need a response from someone sooner than later, cause there's still more eyes on Reddit.

MrScottyTay , (edited )

I would say enshitification is more specifically about a product or service getting worse itself, whereas they were talking more about the audience. The enshitification had very much likely caused the "facebookification" of Reddit but i would say by their definition they are not one and the same. They can happen independently as well as because of one another.

MrScottyTay ,

It's just a planck with a screen attached to it. Could easily make your own with a pi zero and a screen and turn you can use any keyboard and will be able to call it around a bit easier than that awkward shape

MrScottyTay ,

Where'd he come from Where did he go, where's the sexbot: Gigolo Joe?

MrScottyTay ,

There's a lot of YouTubers that started doing big videos like that and i just don't have the time to watch something like that and give it all my attention. Same with caddicarus, used to watch both of these a lot but since they started having massively long videos i just haven't bothered with them in ages

I banned my daughter from using the iPhone she bought. It made her a better person | Em Rio (www.theguardian.com)

I think its not just kids anymore, it's adults too. Everyone is glued to their screens these days. But kids are more vulnerable to influences from "social" media and don't have any defences to the psychological warfare going on. Of course they feel like shit.

MrScottyTay ,

Technically lemmy has lots of algorithms. It wouldn't work without any

Microsoft in damage-control mode, says it will prioritize security over AI (arstechnica.com)

Microsoft is pivoting its company culture to make security a top priority, President Brad Smith testified to Congress on Thursday, promising that security will be "more important even than the company’s work on artificial intelligence."...

MrScottyTay ,

As beginner friendly as they are you still can't play Sims 1 and 2 on them.

MrScottyTay ,

I've only ever seen people complain about them tangentially. Guess I'm not following the communities they usually pop up in

MrScottyTay ,

Technically win 11 has the same main version number to win 10. They're essentially different UIs with extra features in 11. There's no technical reason why anything in 11 can't be backported to 10 unless it requires a TPM (maybe)

MrScottyTay ,

It's mostly for students with issues that puts them at a bigger disadvantage to those that are "normal" when writing with a pen. Learning difficulties and motor function issues and differences alike. I used a word processor in exams towards the end of college due to learning difficulties and a subconscious grip that would ache my hand with overuse of a pen that slowed me down compared to others by a lot.

MrScottyTay ,

Oh interesting. I stand corrected

MrScottyTay ,

The fall guy is pretty damn good. Great actual stunts in it too.

MrScottyTay ,

I saw this a few days ago too when I went to see the film and wanted to check who some people were in the film.

MrScottyTay ,

I see a lot of films and am usually more forgiving than most since I have one of those unlimited cards that lets me see any amount of movies for a monthly fee so if i see a bad one they're usually just a drop in the ocean. I'll just see a good film next week, sort of thing.

That being said though, Fall Guy did stand out more than others for me. I really like films that showcase their choreography and Stunts. And for me this is the best one since the original John wick and Nobody in those regards. No quick jump cuts. Lots of wide shots and whatnot. My kind of thing, so I ate it all up.

MrScottyTay ,

I think the joke is that you seem to actually think that they are communist. Nothing wrong with being communist yourself, but their government is communist in name alone.

MrScottyTay ,

Have any NSO games been removed before? I've only ever heard of them adding new ones

MrScottyTay ,

Ah yeah, forgot about the non emulated games they have with the subscription

MrScottyTay ,

I would love a phone with a slide out keyboard

MrScottyTay ,

They never really dealt with the games biggest issue though and that was the massive battery drain. Once they hype died down it was just a way to kill my phone faster when I'm out and about and will more likely need it before I can charge it again.

Rabbit R1 is Just an Android App (lemmy.world)

See, it turns out that the Rabbit R1 seems to run Android under the hood and the entire interface users interact with is powered by a single Android app. A tipster shared the Rabbit R1’s launcher APK with us, and with a bit of tinkering, we managed to install it on an Android phone, specifically a Pixel 6a....

MrScottyTay ,

I thought we always knew that the device was going to be Android.

It's crazy you can just download and run it on any other android device though. I'd have thought they'd have locked it down somewhat.

MrScottyTay ,

It's mostly just to force the hands of businesses that will now have to upgrade to stay compliant with security standards

MrScottyTay ,

Sadly being an island, the unreliability near border boundaries isn't an issue, except for northern Ireland

MrScottyTay ,

Oh that would do my head in, i use home to go to the start of a line extensively

My win11 laptop is practically instant to boot up

    MrScottyTay ,

They usually have a higher bitrate than you can get from streaming. There's not one CD I have that I immediately tell the difference in quality of I switch between streaming (or even a standard mp3 actually) and a CD. CD wins every time.

    MrScottyTay ,

A lot of the "bland" food is just food that was made during the world wars that has evolved over time after the fact.

But to say British food has no spices completely disregards the whole curry scene over here. It's not just curry from India. A lot of "Indian" dishes were invented in the UK.

    MrScottyTay ,

I mean it's usually just cheap, lazy food. I like a good beans on toast every once and a while. Sometimes you just want a no effort meal.

    MrScottyTay ,

If you watch a 4k bluray. It's night and day compared the 1080p. Same goes for the audio quality of them blurays. Compare 4k ones against standard bluray and there's a massive difference. And sadly there's also a massive difference favouring standard blurays against 4k streamed content.

    MrScottyTay ,

You can see an i and an l in that image and there's no way a 1 would look like either of them that they have...

    MrScottyTay ,

Once again considering the serifs on what we see, it's definitely not going to be just a straight line.

    MrScottyTay ,

It's people who had a single bad experience 15-20 years ago, or heard second hand of such issues. Or if they've experienced it recently then they were probably running a very slow hard drive rather than an ssd.

    MrScottyTay ,

I've seen plans for hydrogen fuel stations to create the hydrogen there on site.

    MrScottyTay ,

And the positives that technically came out from the ashes of Europe and some of the data from shady experiments nazi Germany scientists did, have been used for good I believe.

This sounds way too apologetic to Hitler, hate that I've wrote this haha.

    MrScottyTay , (edited )

Wouldn't this mean that eventually warfare would just be drone on drone combat then? I'd prefer that over lives lost. But it does mean absolute mayhem before everyone is on a level playing field though.

    MrScottyTay ,

    Hence my last sentence

    MrScottyTay ,

If you want to get dark eventually only the evil will survive and the various evils (if multiple) will then duke it out via drone on drone

    MrScottyTay ,

Google pay and google phones are failures?

Both are THE standard for their respective industries, what you on about?

    MrScottyTay ,

I still pay with Google pay on my phone for contactless, did it literally just now. I think they just rebranded instead. Google Wallet I think it is now

    MrScottyTay ,

I'm so excited for 7 rebirth. And one I've finished that I'll be getting persona 3 reload to replay one of my favourite games. With those two alone and me catching up on some of last year's games, this year is going to be a good one for me.

Sony misses PS5 sales target as console enters ‘latter stage of its life cycle’ (www.theverge.com)

Sony misses PS5 sales target as console enters ‘latter stage of its life cycle’::Sony has cut its sales forecast by 4 million units for the fiscal year, down from 25 million to 21 million. It comes as the company missed its sales projections by a million.

    MrScottyTay ,

I've not even attempted cyberpunk cause i didn't want to waste money on it for a game that is unlikely to run well. I don't think it reaches their min specs, at least it didn't initially unless they've changed.

And yeah theoretically a 1050Ti is PS4 level but the heavy hitters of the PS4 would run like shit in comparison on my PC. Just due to how much better optimised console games are compared to their PC counterparts.
