Mr_Dr_Oink ,

Isnt it jsut 1 half of the first level? I seem to recall there being a large plane in the middle.

Mr_Dr_Oink ,

So here i am,

doing everything i know,

Building pyramids for show,

Pretendin' im a great pharaoh .

Robotic 'Third Thumb' Makes Tasks Possible With One Hand; Can Be A Game Changer For The Disabled (www.ibtimes.co.uk)

This controllable prosthetic, the Third Thumb, attaches to the right hand, granting wearers the ability to perform a slew of one-handed tasks such as grasping objects, opening bottles, sorting cards, and even peeling a banana.

The ugly truth behind ChatGPT: AI is guzzling resources at planet-eating rates (www.theguardian.com)

Despite its name, the infrastructure used by the “cloud” accounts for more global greenhouse emissions than commercial flights. In 2018, for instance, the 5bn YouTube hits for the viral song Despacito used the same amount of energy it would take to heat 40,000 US homes annually....

Mr_Dr_Oink ,

Do you mean it's without context or comparison?

Im not being funny. I'm just stupid.

Mr_Dr_Oink ,

Is that exclusive para/quadriplegics in your mind? Only that you are countering a statement that essentially says that losing one or more limbs doesnt make people stop loving you, by saying not everyone has people that love them. Which would be a good point if people not loving you was exclusive to people who have lost a limb or limbs...

Mr_Dr_Oink ,

You were responding to a comment about quadriplegics which painted context to your response. If that's not what you meant, then gine. Im sorry i misunderstood your response. You could have been more clear that you were generalising and not directly responding to the claim being made.

To your point. No not everyone has a life and people that love them but i would argue that a blanket statement that started this thread, that if you were a quadriplegic then you would volunteer to have experimental surgery with unknown side effects and effectiveness because you have nothing else going for you is not inherently true.

You dont need to be quadriplegic to want to volunteer. You dont have to not have anything else going for you, and you dont need to have a life or people that love you.

If all you are saying is not everyone has a life or people that live them, then i fail to see how its relevant to the point made in this thread.

Mr_Dr_Oink ,

Used a screen shot to Google this and it turns out to be some unsolved ancient equation regarding the laws of physics. Or something that I dont understand. And have probably misrepresented here.

Mr_Dr_Oink ,

The crease doesn't matter. Had a fold 3 for almost 3 years, and the crease has never bothered me. You dont see it when using the devices. you do from other angles, but even then, it's dependant on external light. I have never found a situation where the crease being there has ever been a problem. And I challenge you to give me a good example.

This is the one thing people say that I feel is mostly rooted in a form of propaganda, or like a rumour if that makes sense. You have been told about the crease and it was made to sound bad you personally believe the crease would be bad and it all joins up to form a strange, baseless bias that the crease is bad. You have admitted yourself that you dont own one, so I can safely assume you haven't held one for long enough to realise that the crease wouldn't bother you if you had one of these phones.

Also, like I said, I've had mine for almost 3 years and it's still going strong. I replaced the screen protector once because I accidentally scratched it but I did that myself with a £15 kit I got on amazon. So the lifespan is fine. Your bias is unfounded. You should use one as a daily driver for a bit and than review your opinion.

Edit. Inb4 "you're butthurt". Idc. I dont think I am, because I'm just arguing the side of someone who has one, but I dont mind if you wanna think im just angry cause you insulted my choice to buy one. I know from personal experience the only real downside to this phone is the narrow outer screen and that only really bothers me when I'm watching video, but then why would I use the outer screen for that? For general use that screen is fine.

Mr_Dr_Oink ,

I guess im gonna have bee movie playing on a loop as my desktop background.

Mr_Dr_Oink ,

And music production, that takes a tonne of space.

Mr_Dr_Oink ,

What use do we have today for a music focused media player? Is it common for people to use mp3, flac or wav for playing music? I feel like music streaming services hold the market here.

I like winamp back when it was an alternative for the basic windows media player to listen to all my music but I dont keep mp3s anymore so I don't know if I can see the point.

Was it anything more than just a music player with eq and skins? Did I miss the point back then?

Maybe I just don't have the vision that others have and will be pleasantly suprised when someone comes up with a good use case and develops it.

Mr_Dr_Oink ,

I thought there were many aspects of the games directly tied to fram rate.

I know that, at least in the case of mario 64, Speed runners abuse game mechanics tied to frame rate to perform tricks such as backwards long jump and other door hacks. Marios eyes blinking are tied to frame rate, they used this to identify faked speed runs in some cases.

I imagine there must be other things aswell.

Mr_Dr_Oink ,

You will take 1/64th of a plain cheese and like it.

Mr_Dr_Oink ,

Im not sure they were making was a dolly parton reference, and im not sure your joke matches up with any of the lyrics from the song either.

I dont know how to feel.

Mr_Dr_Oink ,

Ha! Barely sentient. I'm definitely gonna start saying that.

Mr_Dr_Oink ,

Its a shame i dont have an ethernet cable that fast or a motherboard with a network interface capable of that speed.

Great if i can get faster fibre into my home but my internal infrastructure is not up to the task. This wont be in the home until we can use fibre cables like we currently use ethernet cables.

Or is there some other tech that would replace ethernet that would handle those speeds. Also whats my wrote speed on my ssd?

Yeah i dont know if thisnis a tech thats meant for home, more likely large businesses with lots of devices all fighting for bandwidth.

Mr_Dr_Oink ,

Some joke about jet fuel and the WTC and these laser beams i'm not quick enough/too tired to work out.

Mr_Dr_Oink ,

Why are companies obsessed with adverts. They ruin the UX, they annoy users, and frankly, if i see an advert in something im trying to enjoy, at this point, it makes me actively not want to buy whatever is being sold.

When adverts fill the peripheral or are unintrusive, they are acceptable. When they interrupt the flow of what i am doing, i want to burn them.

I appreciate that they are how we make things free, but there is a point where they tip the balance of being worth it into the negative. And frankly, adverts in my OS are way over the line. I'd rather pay for windows 11 than use it with adverts. Perhaps its time for me to join a large number of my fellow lemmings and use linux.

Mr_Dr_Oink ,

They are both great. Johnny's is definitely more than ok. Even subjectively speaking. You can say you dont like it, or it's not for you, but objectively, it hits many nails on many heads and is an excellent version. Im not a fan of either band/artist. NiN has some great songs that i have heard. Johnny cash does, too. Hurt is definitely one of the best from both (of what i have heard)

Mr_Dr_Oink ,

Actually it says mmmiinu

Mr_Dr_Oink ,

I think you arw getting downvoted because people have misread your comment and think you didnt get my joke. The irony being that you clearly did get my joke and actually joined in on the joke with your comment. I think your spelling is too much like typoglycemia.

Mr_Dr_Oink ,

Its a made up word for that thing where as long as the first and last letters of a word are in the right place, the rest can be a mess but you can still read what it says.

For exmlape tihs snetnece stlil mkaes snese.

Mr_Dr_Oink ,

Im not gonna sit here and shill for people like job and musk. But i have to say there is somethkng to be said about steering a ship in the right direction.

Jobs knew how to market the products, and steer the engineers in the right direction.

One thing he always said was that there only needed to be one iphone and one ipad. I recall that the with the ipad he said it was the perfect size and didn't need alternatives or it would become less functional.

Then he died and the ipad mini was released, as well as the iphone 5c.

In 2012, the year following the iphone 5c and the year of the ipad mini apple lost its global market lead to android.

They diluted the product and confused the market of loyalists and general consumers by releasing multiple versions of their main product and if you ask me, thats when the cracks started to show.

Apple havent had a majority of the global market share for years now.

Mr_Dr_Oink ,

I dunno, 3 megabits works out to about 0.375 megabytes per second. So its slow.

That seems like a limiter has been applied. Probably on the router. I dont think there are internet providers out there still offering adsl speeds like this. You would need around 5Mbps to watch HD on netflix.

Might be worth finding the actual router and getting the log in details from the sticker on the bottom/back and logging in to see if you can disable it.

Mr_Dr_Oink ,

Dumb argument, its all relative.

Of course there are people who have it worse. But that doesnt invalidate the frustrations of people who dont. A 1st world problem isnt less valid than a third world poblem.

In the 1st world, you often need a reliable internet connection to do almost everything. From ordering food to applying for a job. Even some work is only offered remotely and therefore it is a requirement.

If you dont have the internet in a 1st world country you will fall behind and lokely end up poor and struggling.

In some third world countires, assume these same issues sont exist.

Mr_Dr_Oink ,

I guess if you werent savvy enough to do it you could follow a guide. My dad does alot of tech stuff by following guides but if it ever goes wrong he cant fix it becaise he doesnt know what he did, he just follows the steps.

I have to fix it instead.

Mr_Dr_Oink ,

This summary had me confused. I misread and thought, "wow japan has the most mcdonalds restaurants in the world?" Then i realised it said "of the other countries affected". USA has 14.5k mcdonalds... wow.

Mr_Dr_Oink ,

You do know that most places use docking stations that connect laptops to multiple screens and... you guessed it... ethernet.

Mr_Dr_Oink ,

Conference rooms, yes. Break rokms, yes. Offices? No. Use a docking station? Are you working solely from your laptop screen or do you dock and use monitors mouse and keyboard? Generally, there's ethernet attached, too.

Ex-Activision CEO Bobby Kotick looks to buy TikTok amid shutdown fears - Dexerto (www.dexerto.com)

TikTok has been at the center of controversy for the United States government in the last few years. Particularly, members of the Senate believe China-based parent company ByteDance could spy on its users and share information with the Chinese Government....

Mr_Dr_Oink ,

There are a few things they could try. You can get biodegradable bottles, you could use glass or metal, there are cardboard bottles and silicon and even ceramic.

You could also change the way we buy these drinks from bottles we buy and throw away to containers we keep and refill from dispensers. The infrastructure isn't there for it, but with the amount of money the major drinks companies make its not unreasonable to assume they could afford to implement it.

And arguing that these alternatives are not practical is a wasted effort because an alternative IS needed to stop mass plastic waste and protect the environment so we need to get used to the bar being set at a different height.

Mr_Dr_Oink ,

I believe so, yes.

Mr_Dr_Oink ,

Isn't this socialism? 😜

Roku TV bricked until agreeing to new terms of service

See title - very frustrating. There is no way to continue to use the TV without agreeing to the terms. I couldn't use different inputs, or even go to settings from the home screen and disconnect from the internet to disable their services. If I don't agree to their terms, then I don't get access to their new products. That...

Mr_Dr_Oink ,

Dont forget the limited length. I cant remember exactly but usb c delivering power has a max length of arpund 4 metres

Mr_Dr_Oink ,

No, helldivers 2 but i just looked into road 96 and it looks fun! Would you recommend it?

2G, 3G, 4G, 5G mobile data made some sense as it represents generational leaps in the technology itself but then Xfinity wants to advertise "10g" internet...

Comcast says it represents a 10 Gigabit cable internet network they are building (it doesn’t exist) so they are basically changing the meaning of the g from generation to gig to act like 10g is 5 generations better (or twice as fast)…or that they have a 10 gigabit network. Neither is accurate. It’s still just cable...

Mr_Dr_Oink ,

Internet providers have always done this. Its not a new thing.

Hey! That's what happened to gaming!

And television and film!

And music!

Just art in general.

It fucking sucks!
