Young people get a lot of their news and information from TikTok. The US government doesn't have their hands in TikTok like they do domestic social media platforms.

I see you haven't used autopilot. It's basically just the advanced cruise control/lane keep of other cars that you've described. It, too, drives more cautiously than most humans and only applies brakes to avoid collision rather than swerving or what have you.

I've been driving an EV for a few years, but I flew out of state and had to rent a car recently. I'd never experienced this before then. It was one of the most dystopian experiences ever, leaving me feeling dirty and used.

I don't think I could keep myself from vandalizing those things if I had to do that constantly.

Fair enough. I'm sure they likely are doing this, why wouldn't they if no one's stopped them. Even while being technically illegal in the US as another user stated, FBI or retired police involvement wouldn't be surprising in the slightest, unfortunately.

That's a very good point. I don't know why I latched on to Target's side of things being true/untrue but looked over the legal aspect completely. Strong anti-corporation bias, I imagine...

Thanks for pointing that out. On second look, I can't seem to find anything to back up the initial claim of their actions being illegal.

I hate that Neuralink is associated with Elon and the testing they did on animals as absolutely abhorrent, but this is crazy. The guy has been playing Civ 6 ffs.

Yes, we've had related technology for a long time. I used one when I was a kid years ago to control a cursor through a maze, although with significant effort. And yet, I don't recall seeing any of these systems reliably play complex games like Mario Kart or Civilization...

To say we've had something similar is akin to something like handwaving modern EVs saying we had EVs back in the 90s, but without mentioning they only went 50 miles per charge, took hours to charge, and had significantly fewer charge cycles. Like, why even do that?

Well, we took a ton of half measures and performed a lot of safety theater. Big shocker, it didn't work well. Either way, the point wasn't to stop the disease entirely, but spread out the cases to "flatten the curve" and reduce load on hospitals, which it did do.

I do want to see more efficient, smaller EVs, but no one wants an EV that only gets 50 miles per charge. They aren't worth producing from the manufacturer's perspective.
