Or people with morbid curiousity like me who hop on to see the dumpster fire occasionally. Can't say I recommend it.

NikkiDimes ,

I do want to see more efficient, smaller EVs, but no one wants an EV that only gets 50 miles per charge. They aren't worth producing from the manufacturer's perspective.

NikkiDimes ,

Legit question - why not Ubuntu?

NikkiDimes ,

Interesting, good to know. I'm not quite there yet, but my next build will 100% run linux, I just haven't decided on the distro yet. Thanks for the info!

NikkiDimes , (edited )

I'm not going in totally blind - I have experience with using linux on the server side. I've just never used it for a personal desktop environment.

"A dream. It's perfect": Helium discovery in northern Minnesota may be biggest ever in North America::For a century, the U.S. Government-owned the largest helium reserve in the country, but the biggest exporters now are in Russia, Qatar and Tanzania. With this new discovery, Minnesota could be joining that list.

Energy cannot be created nor destroyed; therefore it's fine if I leave all my lights on 24/7 and use inefficient power hungry bulbs. It's not a waste if it isn't destroyed!

-This guy, apparently

NikkiDimes ,

People who think that kinda shit aren't really the brightest out of the bunch. We also didn't evolve to sit on toilets while typing out literal shit posts to a worldwide forum, yet here I am.

NikkiDimes ,

I got one, too. I haven't used my account since the debacle as well, and I nuked my account, overwriting and deleting every comment lmao.

NikkiDimes ,

It seems you don't get in trouble for that these days. Carry on.

NikkiDimes ,

Man, I sure got a lot of stickers, too...

NikkiDimes ,

It...it probably is.

NikkiDimes ,

Man, I was looking into Germany's waste infrastructure in general, and damn, I'm jealous, lol. I couldn't find any concrete answers to the degree on which you should rinse plastic, though. That said, I imagine it's probably in your best interest to at least give a quick rinse to avoid your own bin getting nasty, even if not required.

NikkiDimes ,

...that is in fact the joke

NikkiDimes ,

That's exactly why that is the joke omg lol 🤦‍♀️

    Big bad wolf.

    The image above transcribed:

    3. Shape or physical quality – adjectives describing more detailed physical attributes than overall size (e.g. round, sharp, swollen, thin)

I know some of those words

The difference between the tech then and today are automated decision making capabilities. 20 years ago a turret could automatically target moving things. Now it can see humans, identify who they are, and decide who to kill without ever consulting a human. Basically, Skynet by next Tuesday.

    NikkiDimes ,

Drones are already prone to targetted EMF guns, regardless of if they require wireless communication, so I don't feel that be a significant issue.

It would seem the author is conflating sexual harassment with random flirting with women. It also sends the message that the author thinks it should be okay to flirt with random women as they go about their day/job, which is inappropriate, creepy, and annoying. He should probably try treating women like humans and develop a healthier sense of boundaries. He might have better luck.

Friendly reminder that nearly everyone on Twitter the Internet are fuckheads.

One of us, one of us!

    NikkiDimes ,

I live in California, so the infrastructure is likely more built up here, but I regularly make trips from the SF Bay Area all the way to San Diego or Las Vegas just fine. On a shorter 2.5 hour trip, I could see it being annoying, but a couple charge stops on an 8 hour trip offer a nice time to take a break to grab a quick bite and carry on. Just my two cents.

    NikkiDimes ,

Range is basically solved for the vast majority of the population at this point. There are chargers every few hundred kilos along all main interstates. Apart from those living out in extremely rural locations or living situations like apartments where you can't charge at home, you'd be fine. For those that fall into that category...well, don't buy an EV, lol.

I feel like calling bitcoin a grifter scheme is kind of like calling fiat currency (edit: in general) a grifter scheme. Which I guess isn't entirely untrue...

    NikkiDimes ,

That's my point. Sorry, I should have said "fiat in general".

    NikkiDimes ,

    👍

    NikkiDimes , (edited )

Well no, but...yeah sure why not haha

Edit: Read the comment I replied to completely backwards nvm, am dumb lol

    NikkiDimes ,

I typed this on a folding screen, even!

    NikkiDimes ,

That's Japan, baybee. They love their toxic work culture. Thankfully, it is slowly changing with the younger generations, however.

    NikkiDimes ,

Sorry, I totally misread the comment I replied to, disregard haha

    NikkiDimes ,

To be fair, I don't think most robocalls these days aren't domestic in origin

    NikkiDimes ,

    Hey, it could be worse!

Years ago, I had a roommate struggling with debt and inability to hold down a job. She was talking with her boyfriend online about committing suicide. He lived about an hour away and couldn't get ahold of me, so he ended up calling 911. Police came to our door and forced her to go to a mental evaluation by ambulance. They held her for 4 hours, told her she's fine, and gave her a nice $4000 ambulance bill to add to her debt. Yay America!!

Across America, clean energy plants are being banned faster than they're being built::The clock is ticking toward a deadline to meet renewable-energy standards. But USA TODAY's analysis finds local governments banning wind turbines, solar plants.

    NikkiDimes ,

...but like, so do fossil fuels, you just don't immediately see it. It's lead to so much contamination and death you'll never directly witness and is actively destroying everything vs "oh no, that pretty hill!".

    NikkiDimes ,

Literally just commenting to say I fucking love that graphic lol

    NikkiDimes ,

People who believe in strict gender roles and the inability to traverse them?

    NikkiDimes ,

It's...not that complex. It's a meme, not a college dissertation. Just laugh at the dumb people.

    NikkiDimes ,

Meanwhile, your car has it's own cellular connection...and you have a phone in your pocket.

I've wanted to get a nice pen for a while. Checked out JetPens. $800 for a fountain pen 💀. I'll stick to Amazon for now

Edit: So I went back and looked through more of their stuff and third party pens found a starter pen, the LAMY Safari for $37. Now we're talking haha.

    NikkiDimes ,

Those are fantastic, thank you for sharing!! I just bought my first cheapo fountain pen and I find it really intriguing. If I stick with it, I'd definitely consider buying one from you. Do you have an online store somewhere, or could I just DM you in the future to see about buying one?

    NikkiDimes ,

This. I have mild dyslexia and dysgraphia and I refuse to give driving directions. I will point left, say right, and not even realize it and just confuse the shit out of my driver, lol.

Hell, I refuse to accept directions. My navigator will say left, I'll go right, and they'll look at me funny. If we're in my car, we're using GPS. No exceptions, even if we're just going 3 blocks.
