We've already established that Tiktok Tok is not the CCP. That's what the whole first "gonna ban TikTok" fiasco was over. It's why they don't store US data in China but continue to do business in the US.

That would be a business using the 1st amendment right (which everyone gets, not just citizens) to free speech to use it's platform to ask it's users to do something directly beneficial to them. Nothing illegal about it unless you want to reevaluate that "TikTok is the CCP" claim again.

Lemmy really seems to generally think that TikTok isn't massively overall popular. Lemmy would have someone thinking it's a niche app only being used by teenagers.

First off, source? Second, the npr interview I heard mentioned specifically that China has to approve the sale because the algorithm is proprietary to a Chinese company. So anyone "buying TikTok" is buying a name and none of the actual bones of the social media platform

Okay, since you really need it spelled out. The subject of the, now removed, comic was watching himself shit, something most people would only chalk up to a fetishist. Therefore he "would be proud", a pretty fuckin common turn of phrase in English and a succinct title for a post that doesn't give away the punchline of the actual comic.

It's not cross-group. Bonobos fight with other bonobos. Intergroup conflict is settled with sex instead of violence, it's about group cohesion.

Example: Human pisses off their neighbor. The "advanced" human approach is to take it to court and allow the whole to decide who was in the wrong. The chimp approach is to just beat the shit out of your neighbor and take some food from his fridge to rub salt in the wound. The bonobos approach is to fuck his wife, his daughter, and his son, to which his only response will be so mad he'll fuck you then everyone is happy because sex.

Usually by using the most generous estimates that come from looking at the statistical differences between stats like actual reports and results from anonymous studies, that's just 2 examples, I'm sure staticians use way more data, and then turn that into "for every reported x, there's y unreported" then you just apply the pre-algebra and compare the adjusted number to which ever stat for women (the unfair answer here is then not adjusting for unreported in women, which would probably be a lower number than men but still)

    Genuinely tho, can someone tell me how? Anime character have ageless faces as the standard, even anime parodies make fun of this.

    If someone drew my partner, who is a very well proportioned 5ft nada, with a generic anime style, the ageless result would look like the image in the OP. The image even has an hourglass figure. Where does the "child" idea come from?

    GDP is just a statistic, economies of all types have it and that won't change unless people all together stop interacting with each other. It's flaw is that it's often the only measure of stength for a country's economy, but that's not a problem with capitalism. Nicola Sturgeon has a wholeass TED talk on this and why she had Scotland use other ways to measure their economic strength.

    But MY POINT is that GDP, as a stat, is useful in many contexts and isn't just a propaganda piece just because it's what capitalists focus on. It's also been much easier to gather accurately compared to other stats.

    We live in the 21st century. We have no reason to solely rely on GDP for developed nations because we have the ability to accurately gather the data for many different metrics. This doesn't mean we throw the baby out with the bathwater and never touch GDP

    there's a lot more info that should be captured by GDP like home chores, growing your own food, maintenance you do yourself, etc. This is one of the benefits of UBI.

    As for grocery on credit, it wasn't that long ago lol. There was a local grocer that did that in my town up until the 70s iirc. Of course they were run out of business by a chain who now have a local monopoly. Fuck you Safeway/Albertsons. Reminder to everyone that there's a possible merger with them and Kroger's that would make grocers in the US a big fucking joke.

    I think the problem here really is that people are using discord to fill a niche that they wouldn't otherwise occupy if other options were as simple "make a server" (yes they aren't actual servers but that's not the point).

    I will concede that it's still weird to see any FOSS communities on there.

    Even and independent Activision-Blizzard under Microsoft would have overlap with HR or something. I can't imagine leaving them "independent" wasn't going to entail some trimming of fat.
