TexMexBazooka ,

They’re using scanned documents as bait? Wonder where they got those. My of them happen to be dated between 2016-2020?

TexMexBazooka ,

Try and push “we’re all switching to Linux!” To a help desk team and let me know how that goes

TexMexBazooka ,

Storage is cheaper than it’s ever been if you get HDDs

TexMexBazooka ,

You can get 12tb renewed drives for $100. A lot will even have decent warranties. If you’re lying for like, 3 streaming services, and cancel all three in favor of saving your own media locally it pays for itself quickly. Especially if you download stuff from like HBO Max.

This is doubly true now that streaming services have started raising prices and pay walling content.

TexMexBazooka ,

They aren’t though, price per GB on renewed storage with warranty is less than 10 cents a GB. That’s insanely low compared to just five years ago.

So let's say I wanna ping 1.1.1.1... every 5 seconds... forever. Alternatives? (lemmings.world)

Developers (two dudes) are super responsive and would likely release an IP customization feature upon request. Is there any service that would tolerate this [D]DOS-y kind of behavior that would feel more privacy friendly than Cloudflare?...

TexMexBazooka ,

1.1.1.1 is cloudflare dns. You can run a constant ping to it, forever, with no problem. Same with 8.8.8.8, which is google. If you want something more FOSS oriented, go with OpenDNS.

Doing so doesn’t really expose much information about you, the concern here really isn’t warranted

TexMexBazooka ,

Not enough, unfortunately

TexMexBazooka ,

Unfortunately here’s the reality: if you want something specific, you’ll probably have to pay for it

TexMexBazooka ,

Pfffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffft

It’s funny because Lemmygrad, .ml and hexbear are almost indistinguishable from truth social of outside of plain text

TexMexBazooka ,

Whoa, that’s a really fucking cool website, thank you for sharing with us

TexMexBazooka ,

Sooooooo… anyone born before 2005

TexMexBazooka ,

People are after whatever fulfills their immediate need

TexMexBazooka ,

Because it’s convenient

TexMexBazooka ,

I will give apple credit, if you drink the kool aid and full send into their ecosystem? Their product line is almost unmatched.

But it al” only works in exactly the way apple intended- so it really limits what you can do with such expensive pieces of equipment.

TexMexBazooka ,

You’re comparing their revenue to their stock market valuation. Apple to oranges.

I banned my daughter from using the iPhone she bought. It made her a better person | Em Rio (www.theguardian.com)

I think its not just kids anymore, it's adults too. Everyone is glued to their screens these days. But kids are more vulnerable to influences from "social" media and don't have any defences to the psychological warfare going on. Of course they feel like shit.

TexMexBazooka ,

ITT: people without kids projecting their childhood trauma

TexMexBazooka ,

You’re gonna need to unpack what you mean here because TCP/IP is the basis for pretty much everything, even modern phones

TexMexBazooka ,

Alrighty let’s learn some vocab

POTS lines, aka plain old telephone system, are what you’re referring to when you say landlines

When you’re calling off of Wi-Fi, most of the time you’re using a technology called VoLTE- Voice over LTE, which still functions on top of TCP/IP

The difference that matters here is the VoIP and VoLTE, as well as Wi-Fi calling are all digital protocols over TCP/IP networks.

If you really wanna get specific, most digital phone systems use protocols called Telephony, and SIP(session initiation protocol)

TexMexBazooka ,

I mean it probably would. Their only recourse would be to sue you.

TexMexBazooka ,

Nah…. Just… just nah. This will never fly in enterprise environments

TexMexBazooka ,

Everything you’re describing is how it should be done. Realistically it isn’t done properly, all the time, and that’s why breaches happen.

TexMexBazooka ,

That’s a petty thing to get upset about all things considered.

TexMexBazooka ,

Kind of a chicken or the egg thing, state level reforms can only do so much

TexMexBazooka ,

Yaknow that’s fair.

What were you filing just like basic W2’s or did you have a 1099 and a bunch of deductions?

TexMexBazooka ,

Ahhh, America

TexMexBazooka ,

I’m not shilling I’m asking for context. I agree with you, why you gotta be so combative?

TexMexBazooka ,

My favorite is when they send a 2fa prompt to your phone when you’re trying to use find my iPhone

TexMexBazooka ,

Get a vasectomy, it’s pretty close

TexMexBazooka ,

Lab tested and certified baby, I’d put it on my resume if that wasn’t weird

TexMexBazooka ,

You would have to chop up the whole car to get the battery out

TexMexBazooka ,

A fat electrician enjoyer I see

TexMexBazooka ,

Theocratic fascist go splat

👏 👏 👏

TexMexBazooka ,

Having a phone number for potential employers to call you is important, this is one of those things that’s kinda silly

TexMexBazooka ,

Governor hot wheels!

TexMexBazooka ,

The vast majority of Texans are on contracted plans and pay a consistent price per kilowatt.

That doesn’t mean prices won’t skyrocket when that contract renews though

TexMexBazooka ,

Not only did they re-elect them, deregulating the power grid even more was an explicit part of the Republican platform

TexMexBazooka ,

How is that supposed to work?

TexMexBazooka ,

Nah, you don’t get to define someone’s gender like that fuck off

TexMexBazooka ,

You wouldn’t be at the bar in the first place and if you were they’d want you to leave.

TexMexBazooka ,

Sure is, and he does it frequently. disagreeing with the political alignment is a ban worthy offense in .ml Lemmy instances.

It’s ok as long as it’s our authoritarianism
