Seems simple enough to clear any calibrations/recipes, and it'll take years to get that back without the right tools/know how. Maybe pull the filters on the clean room on the way out the door, too, really burn that bridge.

Easiest way to create player targets for Music Assistant to connect to an active speaker via SPDIF for <$30 ? Squeezelite seems like a good candidate, but unsure how to connect to SPDIF

I'm struggling to find the easiest solution to connect a set of active speakers that have BT/Optical (Toslink)/Coax. I currently use a tablet to stream Deezer via BT, but I want to be able to use them in Music Assistant....

What hardware are you using to Host? That'll influence the answer.

Squeezelite with a USB spdif out might work? (I'm unsure myself, I have my squeeze server able to connect to my casting devices)

Bonus: a USB spdif out isn't pricey says a very quick search

So they suggest either a specialized chip, which will likely need more hardware, or this little circuit. (See link) I would say if you had an extra coax cable, to cut an end and solder away, but that's assuming a lot.

Second edit: they can connect to Bluetooth as well.

Currently leaning towards the Lenovo m710q or m910q, both under 150 at microcenter (6th Gen i5 6500t). It's overkill, but it's small. I have to put my hands on it before making the purchase though, make sure the refurb models they have the io I want

MA might want you to, but has a problem. Just pre COVID, I had a quote, it was high, but not terrible, just well out of our range. We had a follow up quote after Massachusetts announced 10-15k more in rebates, and the price went up by about 15-20k. I get that some of this is that things are more expensive, but it also means that the incentives are not being seen by people, just installers. It's frustrating to say the least.
