I tried using a vertical mouse for a while. Trying to click with it without the mouse moving at the same time made me want to throw the thing across the room. It causes you to grip it much harder than you need to grip a regular mouse which eliminates any ergonomic benefit it theoretically has. If you need ergonomics, focus on the basics like desk, chair, and monitor height.

If I dual boot windows, I tend to disconnect my Linux drive any time I do anything on the Windows side. Even installing Windows fresh using default settings, it managed to completely erase my Linux disk to put the Windows bootloader on it even though I selected a completely different disk for the Windows OS. Won't be making that mistake again. And by mistake I mean dual booting Windows. That pile of spaghetti code gets a VM.

I installed NetGuard about a month ago and blocked all internet to apps, unless they're on a whitelist. No notifications from this particular system app (that can't be disabled) until recently when it started making internet connection requests to google servers. Does anyone know when this became a thing?...

Literally just had a kiosk removed from my workplace last week because it was running Windows and kept looping into a BSOD and rebooting. It was kinda entertaining watching it struggle to pull up the kiosk app and then BSOD again.

I regret purchasing Diablo III and with everything I've been hearing from people playing IV and what I've observed going into the game, I'm 95% sure I won't enjoy it. It's a fact that most twitch streamers playing IV abandoned it to play previous versions of Diablo. Connecting the dots isn't hard and doesn't require you to play the game.

I did some contract work for nvidia a few years ago to build out a data center for a client in the domain of pharmaceutical research. I've never worked for any employer more hypersensitive and narcissistic than nvidia. They will waste your time and fire you on the spot if you voice any concerns.

Had a random guy that I spoke to at a bar ask me if I could hack a university to forge a degree for him when I told him I work in IT. Even if I could do something like that, it seems like a really risky and unethical thing to do for some rando at a bar.

I admire the students that are setting up book clubs for banned books. They are recognizing that they are being given a list of what they should read.

It's a bit of a lengthy read, but here is an article that gets into the messiness of Zoolander 2 and Deadpool. Long story short, they both attempt to be more performatively progressive with their depictions but end up perpetuating many of the same harmful stereotypes of queer individuals. They become the same low brow entertainment as before with a few tweaks to make them more acceptable. That being said, I still liked Deadpool. I think the industry is still evolving and we need to continue to let it evolve in a positive direction.
