In your opinion, what makes a VC effective or not ?

When I did mine, I drove myself home and put a bag of peas on there for the afternoon. I was fine pretty much right away, but I think medical advice says wait 3 days before you do anything wild.

Plus you have to ejaculate like 30 times in two weeks to clean out the pipes, but your sperm is still active so you can only do hand and mouth stuff. That was a pretty good two weeks.

It's literally so easy and the peace of mind is really nice especially if you're impulsive as fuck like me.

Sons of Onan is unironically a pretty good name for an anti-masturbation extremist group

I bought this for my old Cadillac that only had a tape deck and it was amazing (with a Bluetooth cassette). I haven't used it since I got rid of that old Cadillac about two years ago now. Pretty limited use case but it still sucks to kill shit for no reason.

The sound is honestly not bad, better and less hassle than an FM transmitter. There are 3.5 mm ones too that work pretty well but I had a few of them and they fail where the cable meets the cassette. I passed it on to a friend with a whole house cassette system when I got my new Cadillac

We don't use that word anymore, I'm sure you can find a better one.

We decided to stop using that word, I think you can think of a better one.

Also interested in a daily dumb phone. Smartphones are... fine... but dumb phones are where it's at. I had to stop using my BlackBerry Torch last year and I literally cried.

I used to drive a Benz, I hated it. Now I'm on my second Cadillac and I'm never going back. Cadillac makes a damn fine automobile tell ya what.

Clearly said by someone who does not drive a Cadillac.

Lemmy user SLAMMED for making an obviously sarcastic quip!

    I think that's satire? I'm not sure, but it feels like satire.

    There aren't many issues honestly and troubleshooting them isn't that bad. Malware/virus isn't really an issue on Linux, your main protection and all you really need is the forethought to not run random bullshit with root privilege. Most mainstream distros have graphical package managers, too. Your best bet is to boot a live USB and play around, check ProtonDB for your favorite games, and then install directly over your windows drive. Or I mean like a virtual machine would also be cool.

    I migrated my whole family to Linux Mint, my grandma even, they all love it. I don't spend much time supporting them either which is nice, Mint is just really headache-free.

    Lmfao for real, putting my fake age as born in 2000 would make me younger 🙃

    Generative AI Is Coming To Your Home Appliances (www.forbes.com)

    Across all industries, organizations are rapidly embracing generative AI. Among them, makers of home appliances like fridges and ovens. Generative AI in your oven? Why not? Ater all, AI has been creeping into our homes for years (think smart lightbulbs and Alexa) – but thanks to generative AI, these interactions will become...

    I don't want my appliances to be engaging. I want to use them for their intended purpose, and then walk away from them.

    There is some enterprise stuff that charges out the ass, IIRC, but I think your comment speaks for itself regarding the home user.

    Every Linux question I've ever had have been answered by the Arch Wiki

    Waymo issued a recall after two robotaxis crashed into the same pickup truck (www.engadget.com)

    Last year, two Waymo robotaxis in Phoenix "made contact" with the same pickup truck that was in the midst of being towed, which prompted the Alphabet subsidiary to issue a recall on its vehicles' software. A "recall" in this case meant rolling out a software update after investigating the issue and determining its root cause....

    It should of course not run into anything, but it does need to be able to identify obstacles at the very least for crash priority when crazy shit inevitably happens. For instance, maybe it hits a nice squishy Pomeranian that won't cause any damage to itself instead of swerving to avoid it and possibly totalling itself by hitting a fire hydrant.

    Or maybe it hits the fire hydrant instead of a toddler.

    At any rate, being able to identify an obstacle and react to unexpected orientations of those obstacles is something I think a human driver does pretty well most of the time. Autonomous cars are irresponsible and frankly I can't believe they're legal to operate.

    I'm a union auto worker and let me tell you, I'm more scared of automation taking my job with no social safety net than I am of industrial accidents.

    Great so you're going to feed my kids and pay my mortgage then? What a tone deaf, braindead, out of touch response.

    Do you have the menubar (file, edit, view, etc) up top like OSX? That's like the one feature from OSX that I actually like, I tried to hack something together with KDE but it's pretty janky and only works sometimes.

    The KDE Global Application Menu Widget I think

    The dumbest guy I know was going to buy a Tesla because he's a right wing extremist and wanted to support Elon, but he couldn't afford it. He blamed Joe Biden even though he retired early and blew his retirement payout on lottery tickets and cigarettes.

    Why do you not just use OpenOffice Calc for your budgeting?

    bizzle ,
    @bizzle@lemmy.world avatar

    Yeah except it's fully FOSS. If you set up nextcloud there's even a web app for it that's pretty good.

    bizzle ,
    @bizzle@lemmy.world avatar

    I used it in college and never had any problems, it seems to have feature parity with Excel. I used Excel professionally for a while and some of the workflows are a little different, but on the whole it's really intuitive and easy to use. I'm sure there are other FOSS budgeting solutions, but Calc works so well for me I don't see myself using anything else.
