"Ask us how we inseminate our corgis!"

datavoid ,

Clear your history? This is a pretty easily solvable problem.

Also, Ctrl-shift-N is your friend

datavoid ,

I've spent the last 3 days deleting old google play music uploads from YouTube music, one song at a time. Would not recommend uploading anything to their interface even if it is possible.

datavoid ,

VSCode is a telemetry filled delight - easily Microsoft's best product

datavoid ,

Classy edit

datavoid ,

Someone should tell apple about this technology

datavoid ,

I needed a cheap laptop for audio, so i decided to pick up a second hand m1 air a couple months ago.

It is honestly pretty impressive for the price, I generally don't have issues either. Everything is snappy, and it handles multitasking fine. Its even faster than my $2000+ PC at several things, which frustrates me greatly.

However... When running ableton live (or presumably anything that involves heavy image, video, or audio editing), 8gb of ram is honestly not enough. If you push it too hard, it hangs for a second, then the offending app will just close.

Also there is a weird delay in factorio, absolutely unacceptable.

datavoid ,

Ya it's kind of silly.

I dual boot if you were concerned

datavoid ,

Of course they believe in it, they just refuse to acknowledge it publically as that would affect the bottom line

datavoid ,

Couple hundred bucks for 8 gigs of ram?

datavoid ,

I don't know what I just witnessed, but I'm here for it

datavoid ,

Haha ya, what a sucker! This is why I make my own gas at home.

I feel like piracy and moral superiority don't really belong together

datavoid ,

I mean the moral thing is just to not buy the product if you have an issue with it.

I have no problem with piracy, but pretending you're some sort of hero for doing it is ridiculous

datavoid ,

But damn, the Japanese really don't like doing business with foreigners.

Truer words have never been spoken

datavoid ,

The hero of the people, puts my 122h to shame

datavoid ,

"Remember kids, you don't need to learn to program!"

datavoid ,

They definitely just wrote that to make it go down easier. They aren't running ads for games out of the goodness of their hearts

datavoid ,

I would recommend RX as well, but it is pricey if you can't wait for a sale (and if you're only using it once, its expensive when on sale too).

Assuming your footage isn't super long, I'd be happy to try running it through RX for you - feel free to send me a message

datavoid ,

Google is so bad for this, plus the fact that they were the ones who started rewarding clickbait articles.

In my mind though, MSN will never be dethroned from having the shittiest content.

datavoid ,

Vinyl sounds good, but has too much noise to be the best. Although that could just be my cat's fault, realistically - i spend a lot time removing hair from records.

datavoid ,

The records are new, and I brush them before each use. I've used different carts so that's probably not the issue either. Maybe I just got all bad records.. Maybe I could hear a difference on yours. Who knows at this point

datavoid ,

Is 20 bad or good? I feel like having lower ping than that is impossible in Canada

datavoid ,

Gaben fanboy downvotes are coming in quick...

This is a legitimate issue.

datavoid ,

I think you should leave...

(is what you would search to find this)

datavoid ,

Light switches are physical objects, when you touch them you are going to feel them moving.

So..... yes.

My phone decided that YACB was dangerous about a month ago. I'm assuming that Google just wanted me to use their call blocker instead, but the warning led me to discover that the app wasn't getting updates so I ended up uninstalling.

datavoid ,

Probably smart - personally I'm too lazy to carry a wallet so I'm stuck with Google for now. I definitely don't want to hear their thoughts on my apps though, and the idea that they can uninstall things at will doesn't excite me. I imagine things like torrent clients, stremio/kodi, usenet clients, etc. may randomly disappear at some point in the future.

datavoid ,

I have written so many fucking useless thoughts on that website, only for them to be deleted because I decided I was an asshole. I hope Google trains on that data lol

datavoid ,

AI was already trained on reddit, no?

datavoid ,

I jumped reddit ship when the API changes were announced, and removed my comments. But in my mind, anything on reddit at that point was probably already scraped by at least one company

datavoid ,

This has to be ragebait, absolutely ridiculous

How to constructively protest against AI voice transcription at work?

As a medical doctor I extensively use digital voice recorders to document my work. My secretary does the transcription. As a cost saving measure the process is soon intended to be replaced by AI-powered transcription, trained on each doctor's voice. As I understand it the model created is not being stored locally and I have no...

datavoid ,

Personally I'd be more worried about leaking patient information to an uncontrolled system than having a voice model made

Guess it's time to get back on the apple music train

OpenAI wants to raise 5-7 trillion dollars. Yes, Trillion (decrypt.co)

OpenAI CEO Sam Altman is in talks with investors, including from the United Arab Emirates, to raise between $5 trillion to $7 trillion in funding. The goal, according to a report in The Wall Street Journal, is to increase the world's chip manufacturing capacity and enhance AI capabilities....

Sidenote: Can OSX maximise windows nowadays? Did they get around to implementing it?

Don't worry, you can buy a program to accomplish everything they forgot to put in the OS...

Seriously though, the M series hardware is impressive, but it's not like apple software is actually more reliable. I'm running Ableton Live on an M1 air, and while it performs much better than on windows, it crashes exactly the same if you happen to choose the wrong order of operations. At least on windows you can choose "wait for this program to respond" - on mac you're going straight to desktop.

datavoid ,

I've always wondered what it would look like from earth it the moon were nuked

datavoid ,

Besides potential copyright infringement, there isn't really any issue with it I'd say. This is still an incredibly stupid take from Samsung however.

While I love buying weed online..... fuck off

The top five RSS readers for keeping up with your news feeds (www.theverge.com)

RSS readers allow you to collect the articles of specific sources in one app, making it a lot easier to find the content you’re interested in without crawling through a lot of noise. RSS (which may stand for Really Simple Syndication, Rich Site Summary, or one of several other possibilities — nobody seems sure) has been...

I discovered this about 5 hours ago while searching for a reader for a new MacBook.. definitely beats the $12 Reeder imo

datavoid ,

I use this as well, have mail/feeds enabled in Vivaldi with no mail accounts added. Then I just removed the mail and calendar icons from my toolbar, and now have a decent feed reader without showing things I don't use.

That being said - I definitely accidentally deleted all my feeds at once in Vivaldi when trying to erase all received news stories. I'd recommend backing up the main Vivaldi config file somewhere occasionally!
