It's frustrating, depressing and time consuming lifestyle.

This is actually the most shocking thing of all. We raise little misinformation spreaders all over the world, base their entire worldview on dogmatic believes and act surprised when they grow up and spread misinformation.

No need to avoid such stores, just wear a protection to avoid your face from being falsely flagged.

Plug-in systems are built around a microinverter that feeds solar energy back into the home via a standard wall jack.

What the actual fuck?

The PowerStream has three proprietary ports: one that connects to your MC4 solar panels

Almost every paragraph is it's own, self-sufficient, malignant cancer. How did this even get published?

That goes against the entire history of currencies.

How come? Decentralized currencies were in place long before the dictators enforced their own private currencies on to all their subjects.

Lot of us don't have to be businesmen. We can just get hired and delegate the networking to our bosses.

I still have this, but suspect it's bricked after I've pressed the "do not press" button on the side. (i'm a filthy button pusher) If anybody has some firmware dumps or at least documentation, I'd appreciate it.

Never managed to use the brainwaves, but it was sensitive to the facial muscle movement. Good enough to play pong.

Pretty amazing... that apple allows access to the sensors, and provides an option to mirror the screen over HDMI! Given how touchy feely they were about openning the NFC stack, this is truly unbelievable.

Why are people still talking about the block feature? You can't block people on decentralized platforms. Period.

I'm confused by this revelation. What did everybody think the box was?

deafboy ,

The best way to do on-device AI would still be a standard SoC. We tend to forget that these mass produced mobile SoCs are modern miracles for the price, despite the crapy software and firmware support from the vendors.

No small startup is going to revolutionize this space unless some kind of new physics is discovered.

What we call intelligence is largely a genetic trait. Otherwise I'd be able to have this conversation with my dog.

I think the main point is, if the genetic predisposition to what we call intelligence does not positively affect the reproduction rate, the process of evolution could phase it out at any time. The "goal" of evolution is adaptation in order to reproduce. The intelligence is not THE strategy to adapt, its A strategy. It could be replaced by something else, like faster reproduction rate, or the ability to survive in harsh environment without a need for clothes, housing, and medicine.

Well, the world is your oyster... Can't wait for yout chief automated officer.

edit: There was a similar hype back in the blockchain era, where people were trying to build decentralized organizations by making all the shareholders directly vote on every decision. Let's just say this model wasn't especially successful except for very rare circumstances.

When the train can park next to my house so that my grandma on a wheelchair can get in, or get me to a KFC in the middle of the night, or move a random piece of furniture, I'm in.

A nice bike lane infrastructure would be a blast too, for when you don't need to move a cargo.

Both are must for large cities, but unrealistic pretty much everywhere else.

    deafboy ,
    @deafboy@lemmy.world avatar

As for KFC deliveries. That doesn’t involve your own personal car so that doesn’t make any sense.

I used to be a city dweller, like you. But now, in bumfuck nowhere, we deliver our own food.

    What’s the excuse then?

The start menu behaves the same way on 10, and server 2016, 2019. I usually have to try several times before the start menu even opens. It's a pain to work with.

My experience has been opposite. Ubuntu just works. On windows, you have to always fuck around with some 3rd party drivers, and using wierd hacks to even use unsigned drivers at all, be it a RTL-SDR, Android in debug mode, or a USB attached bitcoin miner...

The logitech wireless mouse works instantly on Ubuntu based distros. On windows, it has to install the driver, causing a sizable delay before it's usable.

I thought I was going to see how to repair the pressure washer. There's no better feeling than taking something broken or incomplete and making it right. Watching someone else do it is the close second.

But the guy just said "I did it" "And you can too!". The internet equivalent of patting each others back. Meanwhile I still have no idea what was really wrong with it, and how it was fixed. Nothing of value was transmitted, except maybe a vague form of a feeling.

For older LG webos TVs, the delay between button push and action in the settings app can get as bad as 4 seconds.

    The reason I bought it:

    1. Samsung pushed ads agressively on their TVs
    2. I had an HP tablet with webOS before and wondered what LG did with it after taking over the development. I was horrified.

The hardware is not much better. There's constantly something wrong. But the LCD panel is pretty decent, so I just patch it up every time, rather than throwing it out.

Adults who fail to turn up at polling stations at least four times in a 15-year period risk losing their right to vote.

I never liked this kind of argument, because if bitcoin ever becomes truly mainstream, the similar ecosystem will grow around it in addition to the mining itself.

We really should focus on the renewable energy sources rather than argue who burns how much and for what reason. There's a price mechanism (albeit flawed) for that.

There is no clear advantage of proof of stake cryptocurrencies compared to blockchain-less centralized databases. IMHO It's either Bitcoin, or PayPal 2.0

edit: But since people tend to be weird, maybe no advantage is needed...
