stupid. this will generate far more work and distraction than it hopes to prevent.

they said it themselves, parents dont want this. I dont want this for my kids. so they will be fighting both the parents and the students for enforcement. theres going to be a constant tit for tat... administrative churn from enforcement of some stupid state law. what is or isnt a 'simple device'.

the reality is, this is a per-classroom thing plenty of teachers currently have a handle on. the teachers that do have a problem with phones just basket them as they walk in. the problem for phone distractions at the classroom level has been solved, per-teacher.

you dont need special rules laws to send a disruptive internet surfing kid to the office.

i dont want the state telling me my kid cant carry the device i gave them. they have plenty of real problems to solve.

if youre using Emby/Jellyfin you would just need emby to access the folder with your music. users would be authenticated through emby.

i think you should groom your media before you drop it into a media broadcasting solution like emby.
i use MediaElch for video, you could use picard for music management. im fairly certain picard has dup detection and rename abilities.

so you get all your music tagged, renamed and encoded the way ya want. then get them organized into files/folders.. then drop that into your emby library.

lidarr is for obtaining media files and creating a process that automatically injects it into your library. you would want emby running correctly first.

as someone who has to suffer overt patriotism daily, it kinda makes me ill.

its very 'close encounters'. i like it better than i like the operating system.

kinda reads like 'Weird Al' answers.. like, yankovic seems like a nice guy and i like his music, but how many answers could he have?

the same politicians demanding government a cess to encrypted protocols once again proving they know nothing about technology.

...and these people are in charge. we should all be afraid

youre going to get a lot of hate for stating facts.

theres a huge contingent here on lemmy who really want fascism to win, so theyre attempting to guilt people into voting for a 3rd party

originalucifer ,
@originalucifer@moist.catsweat.com avatar

i hate the dems as useless conservatives, but this 'BoTh SideS aRe thE SAME' argument is crap.

you might as well just say 'everyone give up, humanity is over'.

originalucifer ,
@originalucifer@moist.catsweat.com avatar

ever? thats a long time. remotely-efficient LLMs have only been around a few years.

i would say 'yes, inevitably'

originalucifer ,
@originalucifer@moist.catsweat.com avatar

"in a reasonable amount of time" or "before this bubble bursts" are clearly implied

hahahaha. ok

originalucifer ,

has no one heard the phrase beggars cant be choosers?

so many people demanding 'free' AND... like thats just something that should exist.

dude calm down. everything will be o.k.

you get what you pay for, so if youre payin nuthin you better level-set your expectations.

    its 'growth at all costs'. profit first and only, quarter over quarter. 'breaking even' is failure in the batshit insane world of big business and the stock market. even if everyone gets paid for a job well done and the client is perfectly happy, someone needs to get extra paid . cut corners. cut services. at some point youre too big for it to matter. what are people going to do? go somewhere else? hahahahwalmarthahaha

    i think docker allows for this configuration. i use a gluetun container for the network definition of the torrent container to prevent leaking. the torrent container knows of no other network than the vpn container.

    But, under this Conservative government, they are left with a local hospital that has become dangerous for both patients and staff.

    are these similar conservatives to the ones in the usa who pretend to care about people, but then remove all funding because fuck people ?

    i hate apps as well, but there is some efficiency gained in not having to manage the infrastructure required for 'cards'. its not always about the data mining.

    i have 'utility' device that is an old cell phone with no cellular access used for this kind of nonsense. i also use it for music (pseudo-ipod)

    Can we all agree that whatever version of predictive text we have nowadays is crap, and has been for a long time?

    I'm sick of random capitalisations mid sentence. I'm sick of common words being replaced by less common ones or even downright nonsense. I'm sick of it taking three attempts to successfully get the word I want. I swear it's been like this for five years or more. Can we have a better version yet, or at least the old one back?

    im amazed at the fact i stopped caring/needing a more powerful phone 5-6 years ago. its just not a thing that matters anymore... theres no feature or processing speed i would need from a new device despite my phone bein 5 years old.

    too bad the batteries arent replaceable as that actually is one of my only concerns.

    i feel like vr will have an actual purpose and general utility about the same time we bring those in-development fusion reactors online.

    until then its niche/entertainment only.

    change the world? Not anytime soon

    i used to care about windows... i had to use and support it at work, it was easy to crack and maintain. then something changed and i walked away into linux land.

    i still need to care about windows at work, but instead of getting all anx-y i just laugh it off. my employers are getting exactly what they chose.

    its HILarious when shit doesnt work... a new version breaks all inter-company communication, all that nonsense is just pure entertainment now.

    my canned response is 'were all beta testers now, buckle up'

    tesla was always a pump and dump. build it up quick, use it as financial vehicle, GTFO before it falls over.

    they have never had an exit strategy or long-term plans for their products.

    i know edsel was thinking the same thing

    What to be aware of before opening port 25 on a postfix Raspberry Pi?

    I have a raspberry pi running postfix. I Realised unless I open port 25 I absolutely cannot receive emails (I have 587 open and can send but not receive them). However I heard there are scaries online which someone could potentially send emails from your server without consent. I believe as well my ISP doesn't block port 25. Is...

    its 'msoffice as a service'... and it sucks donkey balls. imagine tryin to manipulate a giant dataset in a web version of excel in a browser tab. annoying enough in the binary, impossible in 'office365-excel'
