Nah the sleeves between the lines. The lines are just plastic rings meant to isolate sleeves.

So alpha males are males who are unrefined and flawed? 🤔

Make it 99.99% that'll be closer to reality.

You could probably run Windows 7 without any issues at all.

Linus Tech Tips (LTT) release investigation results on former accusations (x.com)

There were a series of accusations about our company last August from a former employee. Immediately following these accusations, LMG hired Roper Greyell - a large Vancouver-based law firm specializing in labor and employment law, to conduct a third-party investigation. Their website describes them as “one of the largest...

Firms don't hire auditors/investigators to give them a rosy report.

That's exactly why firms do it.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qwbq9OsHvp4

But a third party audit lying to a firm to make them look good does not provide value.

Why not? Making them look good IS providing value according to the client that pays tha audit firm.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CTxt96DwaFk

If the absolute auditing giant EY doesn't say anything bad on behalf of their clients, this firm doing it is certainly within realms of possibility.

And while the lack of an app is a problem,

You can watch PeerTube videos on NewPipe.

Do what happened if you bring a book to class already signed?

Sounds like a pos.

Also that sounds very illegal, no complaints have been filed or anything?

Cars don't either.

You didn't answer their question though. You gave an example of how power companies are doing, not how texans are doing.

Also, if Texas is having record solar installations, why is power so expensive?

puppy ,

Not for lack of trying from his part.

puppy ,

Colonel Panic. Different spelling though.

One of the reasons I use Firefox.

puppy ,

How come it has no value? I used to run Chrome but now I run Firefox. My browsing habits have not changed yet the memory consumption has greatly improved. It may not have any value to you but it certainly was a valuable experience for me and I made the comment hoping that it might find someone who is in the same situation as I was. I've got nothing to prove and nothing to gain. Anyone may run their own experiment.

puppy ,

but you have no idea how many or what kind of tabs either of us have,

Can't speak for you but I certainly do have an idea of how many and what kind of tabs I have and how many and what kind of tabs I used to have in Chrome.

puppy ,

Good for you.

puppy ,

Fortunately or unfortunately, this change is also political. Vote for the right people. Hey involved in local elections. Right to your local politicians. Attend town meetings if possible.

puppy ,

Simple defaults has been fedoras thing for a long time.

So has been KDE's for a long time now. Even more so in Plasma 6.

puppy ,

It's going to assume you want to close the frunk and maybe something like a bag is getting in the way, which would make it close harder.

What's next? When you press the brake padel the car is going to assume that you want to slow down? Wow, that's some fantastic wisdom from Tesla!

puppy ,

Whose company that sends a poop emoji as a response when the PR department is emailed? Hmm, this us a tough question. . .

puppy ,

Weird it says "paused" and not "terminated". I think there's something wrong with my glasses, am I seeing it correctly?

Finally, a technology related post in the technology community.

X automatically changed 'Twitter' to 'X' in domain names, breaking legit URLs (mashable.com)

On Monday, it appears X attempted to encourage users to cease referring to it as Twitter and instead adopt the name X. Some users began noticing that posts viewed via X for iOS were changing any references of "Twitter.com" to "X.com" automatically....

puppy ,

It's fine to deadname any corporation. Corporations are not people.

puppy ,

It's not only laymen either. I have Software Engineering friends who continue to use Twitter because RSS, Mastodon or any other alternative is "hard". They have no core values or integrity whatsoever.

Yep Technology community has become a dumping ground for all topics. I wish moderators enforced rule 2, "only tech related" more strictly.

    puppy ,

Only Safari on iOS is about to change with EU laws. Not sure how it will affect outside the EU though.

A German state is ditching Windows and Microsoft Office for Linux and LibreOffice on the 30,000 PCs it uses for local government functions (www.theregister.com)

Schleswig-Holstein, Germany's most northern state, is starting its switch from Microsoft Office to LibreOffice, and is planning to move from Windows to Linux on the 30,000 PCs it uses for local government functions....

    According to the article,

    1. They are also migrating backend infrastructure such as emails servers etc.
    2. They already have Linux migration experience in some German states as well as the current proposer.
    3. Companies such as RedHat, Canonical and OpenSuse do offer enterprise level support. So open source software doesn't have "after sales" support is a myth.
    4. They say that the goal of the migration is privacy and security, no necessarily cost driven. They may very well be prepared to pay a premium for enterprise level support.
    5. They have already identified compatibilities issues in their previous project. They got them because they mixed Windows and Linux, the article says. That's why they migrate everything to Linux this time.
    puppy ,

    steamdeck completely changed my opinion.

What do you mean? Did it convince you to keep using KDE or did you go back to another desktop afterwards?

    puppy ,

Yep. I use other distros but always come back to the dd command example on Arch Wiki when I make a bootable USB.

    puppy ,

You don't have to imagine it. The official piracy subreddit did it.

    puppy ,

I am not defending scammers but grandma and grandpa do have access to the internet. There are tons of resources to educate yourself on how avoid being scammed.

What scammers are doing is illegal but grandma and grandpa are not blameless.

    puppy ,

Apart from compatibility all other features are available on Linux. You yourself said that you've never contacted support other than to activate Windows (which you wouldn't need on Linux).

I recommend that you install Fedora KDE and observe how shockingly easy and polished everything is.

    puppy , (edited )

You have never worked in IT or an enterprise level job,

Nice assumption. I do work in IT. And Ironically use WSL2 on Windows because my employer only provides Windows laptops but my tech stack requires Linux.

I have installed Linux for family members who have no IT background. They were fine as long as the browser icon and the start menu started the same.

    puppy ,

if not for your help, would you family be using Linux? Could they have installed it alone, and maintain whatever distor they were using, without help?

No they wouldn't. Then again, they don't know how to install Wndows themselves either. So it's a moot point. Just like they know how to use their Android phone but don't know how to install it.

    puppy ,

If it cost like $75 max that's within realms of sensibility. If I bought that thing for 3000 I'd probably die from embarrassment. It's like an advertisement for how gullible you are.

    puppy ,

They copied the open source project AppGet and screwed the developer. It's an interesting read.

    puppy ,

Nah the planet will be just fine. Humans (and other living things) though will truly be fucked.

No no no, there will be laws. Just barberic ones. Laws that pleases the redneck church and the oil billionaire overlords.

    puppy ,

To me the both is from the same website as you got for "why is my husband yelling at me" (wellbeingscounselling.ca). woah, does this mean that my country is truly gender equal?

The only reason I'm locked into Google is Gmail. If that goes away, I'll purge everything Google from my life in a heartbeat.

The exact moment the employer only cared about money and not its employees or contributions to the society.

I add custom themes for everything and then come back to Breeze after a week because it's the most consistent and usable.

    puppy ,

Same here. But I had always been on Linux since I was a kid because Ubuntu (Gnome 2 days) was very pretty compared to Windows XP to me.

    puppy , (edited )

No searching at all. I got a new computer last month.

    1. Install open-ssh server on the old computer
    2. Copy the IP address of the old computer
    3. Paste it into Dolphin
    4. Copy paste everything
    puppy ,

I don't know how to mount a network drive in Windows. So what's your point?

btw I just searched how to do it in KDE. First result is a Reddit thread explaining how to do it in Dolphin.
