Don't worry, my cats are exactly the same. They also don't give a damn about you.

spirinolas ,

Take it easy buddy, I was just kidding.

spirinolas ,

It's a secondary effect of having emotionally abusive cats, eheh.

Dude, you realize a nuclear meltdown releases far more nuclear poison than a nuclear bomb. It's not about the immediate destructive potential.

A nuclear winter would last at most a decade or two due to the dust thrown into the atmosphere by the explosions. A disaster like Chernobyl, while not even close in terms of destructive power, had the potential to release enough radiation to leave half of Europe uninhabitable for centuries, maybe even millenia. Chernobyl is still dangerous to this day while cities like Hiroshima and Nagasaki are thriving.

And to think you could just abandon a nuclear power plant safely...

You realize used nuclear fuel is extremely hot and still radiating heat and has to be cooled for a long time. You abandoned one without safety measures and the pools cooling the used fuel would just boil and evaporate. The water gone would no longer shield the radiation and you'd have a ton of radioactive material shitting poison into the atmosphere and meltdown.

Some people don't know shit about nuclear power and like to act condescending "it's not like a nuclear bomb". No, it's far more dangerous. And all it takes is a couple of really bad accidents to ruin the planet. And Murphy's law tells us those improbable accidents will happen eventually. That means with nuclear power, quick or slowly we are walking towards the abyss. When we reach it we fall and there's no way out.

spirinolas ,

That...makes no sense...

spirinolas ,

I agree with everything you say. It really is spot on. What I don't understand is how, with your awareness, do you still consider yourself pro-nuclear. Honest question, I really am curious.

spirinolas ,

There's always a way to fail. Always.

There are no unsinkable ships. No matter how safe the Titanic is, keep enough of them on the sea and one will eventually sink the way least people expected. If life on Earth depends on a Titanic never sinking...we're fucked eventually.

Life on Earth depends on no more than a couple on nuclear plants blowing up catastrophically.

spirinolas ,

Those health issues while being a problem are in no danger of killing humanity. Wether they affect hundreds, thousands, even millions.

ONE really bad nuclear disaster can make a whole continent uninhabitable.

The risks are on totally different magnitudes.

spirinolas ,

That's not how fusion works...if it even worked already.

spirinolas , (edited )

There's a difference in something being not perfect and being fundamentally flawed. My confusion is because you perfectly verbalized why I think it's flawed.

I could understand being in favor of using nuclear temporarily until renewables are more reliable. I don't agree but I understand the thought process. It's a calculated risk, an acceptable gamble. But being aware of all the issues with nuclear and still be in favor of it long term, in my opinion, doesn't make sense.

Mind you, I'm not trying to attack you, I'm genuinely intrigued and curious.

spirinolas ,

Accusing everybody who doesn't see things your way "rightwing trolls" does nothing but help rightwing trolls. When everybody seems to be one the real ones become invisible.

spirinolas ,

Oh, I see. What if they call for vote in a third party, is that interference too?

You guys are so afraid of Trump killing democracy that you're willing to kill democracy to fight him. You are blind.

spirinolas ,

You've made my point, thank you.

spirinolas ,

This comment should be voted way higher

spirinolas ,

I'm not even American. In my country we can actually vote for who we want. Nobody can form a government against the majority.

Think about my words:

WE CAN ACTUALLY VOTE FOR WHO WE WANT

You can't. I understand your conundrum. But your solution is to accept it and to revoke your own vote. To revoke other people's vote who don't want Trump or Bidden.

Don't you see the obvious? Being forced to vote for Bidden for fear of Trump will just perpetuate the two party system. It will also keep sending the message that as long as the Republican party is scary enough then the Democratic party only has to be slightly better. Even if another party appears that represents better the will of the people it will stay blocked from power.

This sends the message to both Democrats and Republicans that it is in their best interest to keep things the same or, even better, worse. As long as both sides are always terrified of the other they'll always vote for "their side" as shitty a candidate they may be. You realize lots of GOP voters also dislike Trump but they see the other side as worse and Trump, in their eyes, is the prefered evil.

This is not about this election. Both Trump or Biden will likely die in office. This is about YOUR future. And let me tell you, either way, unless you break this cicle, it's a grim one.

Nobody trusts the US anymore. As an European I'll say we NEED a strong and righteous US but we're coming to terms we won't have one anymore and are slowly learning we have to fight our own way in the modern world. Pax Americana is over and you have only yourselves to blame.

But instead of being honest with yourselves you just attack what little democracy you still have left. It's sad in a shameful way.

spirinolas , (edited )

You attacked a member of the Green Party for not voting for Biden.

You'd burn down all the third parties out of fear for Trump and then complain when the Democrat President doesn't give a flying fuck about you.

Say everyone votes for Biden to keep Trump out. Why would Biden care about you? Why would he care what you want in a candidate? Why would he even bother to earn your vote? You'll vote for him as long as there's a Trump.

All you're doing is making sure all candidates get worse and worse. You are saying loud and clear you'll eat every bowl of shit and take everything up the ass as long as it's not Trump giving it to you. You are begging to be fucked.

spirinolas , (edited )

"Vote for Biden, or else". Fear tactics at its best.

He doesn't have to "endure" anyone. His vote is his, that's it. Deal with it.

By the way, I'm 40. And the reason I tell you is because I've been listening for that "just this once" crap since I WAS 12.

20 years ago Bush Jr. was the antichrist. Now...he was not that bad. Trust me, you can have worse than Trump. A competent one. On either party. And that mindset is bringing it closer everyday, you're just too blind to see it.

So be it. Every empire has to fall, I guess.

spirinolas ,

I lost my last grandparent this Easter. She was much younger then my other grandparents. The 3 of them would be over 120 years old now. I'm a millenial, I'm 40.

spirinolas ,

I work in a school. I laugh and joke a lot with the teens. Sometimes I forget I'm not one of them and I'm 40. I'm just as immature as them, just more experienced. A lot of my coworkers forget what it was like to be a kid and how boring most of us are. School sucks, remember?

spirinolas ,

What's up with all the posts about this porn site?

spirinolas ,

The bright side of human extinction is that Word Art text would never be seen again.

spirinolas ,

Europe was watching and got a raging Italy.

spirinolas ,

The school I work at is implementing this starting next week.

Except it's a music school so they can use metronome apps. Also, they can use it to send emails to the copy room to print music sheets. Or to use in class when it's required. Or for whatever exception they can think of. And they actually expect us to enforce it with all these exceptions.

Yeah, I'm sure it will work /s

spirinolas ,

I do tech support in a school filled with old computers all connected with VGA. One day I'll hang myself with one of those.

spirinolas ,

If I enter a theater through the backdoor without paying, is that theft?

spirinolas ,

Ok, so what's difference?

spirinolas ,

I literally just wrapped a web app I've been working on for a few months. I'm so proud of myself. I take a deserved break and see this.

I hate everybody.

spirinolas ,

If only I had more hypothenanuses and less avocado toast... :(

spirinolas ,

Tell us what you think of triggernometry?

spirinolas ,

If apps were girls:

I was always in love with Sync. But life happened and we had to go different ways for non-romantic reasons. Some fucker called Spez, long story...

Eventually I met Voyager and she was great. Any user would be lucky to have her. But Sync was always the one that got away. Everyday I looked at Voyager and thought she was awesome but I was always holding a candle for Sync. But Sync was gone and I had to move on. But I could never really move on.

But life happened again and Sync was coming back. I had committed to Voyager but, as great as she was, I always thought how she came short of Sync. Sync came back and she was as stunning as I remembered. I couldn't stay with Voyager. I'm sorry Voyager. You're an awesome girl but I was pretty much just using you since I couldn't have Sync.

I'm a user Voyager, I make no excuses. There, there...
