"prefer to blame anyone but apple"

The best humour is always rooted in truth

systemglitch ,

Aside from this post I have never in my life heard one single person complain about 32vs64bit. It's the most silly thing for him to be upset about.

systemglitch ,

This is the most ridiculous article I've read this year

systemglitch ,

I love in the land of harsh winter even for Canadians, but one thing I'm never worried about are my legs. So long as the core and head are protected, I could wear shorts no problem. Legs are not the spot we are losing heat, especially the calves.

systemglitch ,

I am in Saskatchewan! Every guy I know wears shorts in summer lol!

systemglitch ,

Glad I bought a non-smart washer and dryer. I've yet to encounter any situation in life where I thought, "too bad my appliance doesn't have Internet". Not once ever.

systemglitch ,

I... I saved a baby birds life a couple years ago. It passed the baby bird Turing test. Squeek squeek.

systemglitch ,

That "eat the rich" thing is taking permenent residence in my thoughts. Thought virus's, eh.

systemglitch ,

For now!

systemglitch ,

I never heard of those, I shall look I to them, thank you for granting me awareness.

systemglitch ,

I wish atheists would see the light and become agnostic.

systemglitch ,

Yeah, I have no desire to "change" anyone either. As long as they are decent people, that's enough for me.

systemglitch ,

That's a lot of assumptions you just made. Fascinating really.

systemglitch ,

I enjoyed it as well.

systemglitch ,

Not going out and interacting as freely with people paying direct attention to one another leads to heightened mental issues? Shocking.

I grew up in the 80's and we were super fucking social. Anyone that didnt live it cannot grasp how far we have fallen from what we once had, and we had no idea how good we had it.

Not to mention everything is being recorded to haunt every kid there is.

I feel read bad for modern day kids, my daughter included. An important aspect of humanity has been lost.

systemglitch ,

Lol wow

systemglitch ,

Odd when we are also reading how studies are showing increased levels of depression and suicide. Which lie do we believe? I'll just go with what I see happening with my own eyes and experience then.

systemglitch ,

I had no idea they were called stroads, thank you.

systemglitch ,

Streisand effect in motion. Me and a million other people get to see this for the first time today.

systemglitch ,

That's fair and you are right, but I'm also pointing out a side effect this is causing. I find it interesting is all.

systemglitch ,

It's a video in case you are just looking at the still picture.

systemglitch ,

Glad to have helped :)

systemglitch ,

If it makes you feel better I gave my 16 year old daughter a laptop with a fresh Debian install and she's figuring out things on her own without asking for help. Customizing it and making it do what she wants.

I just thought she would watch YouTube videos on it and be content. Instead she's talking about the nuance of installing programs on it, and how different it is from Windows.

Not all hope is lost.

systemglitch ,

It's why I use a dedicated music tracker for my music. I own it. I get the exact quality and version I want, and no one can take it from me.

I've had a lot of physical media stolen from me, and I would never try replacing it with more purchased media, because of the he cost and potential for damage and chance it might get stolen again.

Lol

Revealed: a California city is training AI to spot homeless encampments (www.theguardian.com)

Last July, San Jose issued an open invitation to technology companies to mount cameras on a municipal vehicle that began periodically driving through the city’s district 10 in December, collecting footage of the streets and public spaces. The images are fed into computer vision software and used to train the companies’...

When housing becomes a for profit business, this is the result. It's happening in my city in Canada as well.

I have a homeless community sprouting up behind our cul de sac and it gets bigger each spring. It likely disappears in the winter, I've no desire to walk through the uncleared snow to find out. And a few blocks away people are camping out on sidewalks everywhere, it's becoming an epidemic, in a city that was once very affordable.

systemglitch ,

I just put my head down and I'm out in a minute or two at most. When I was stressed and not enjoying life it would take an hour or two.

I find you can often tell a person's mental health by how easily they fall asleep and how rested they are when they awake.

systemglitch ,

Slayer the sed to knock me out as a teen. Super soothing somehow and I I've never considered myself a Slayer fan.

systemglitch ,

Right? It's seems like a no brainer in the surface.

systemglitch ,

Worry not, you are a voice of reason.

systemglitch ,

If I had my way, none, the pedo part is irrelevant. Save the kids mentality is not justification for draconian overreach

systemglitch ,

You're thinking and able to reconsider previous statements, I'd consider that a win. Far too I find we simply double down without the due consideration we owe ourselves.

Fewer people are using Elon Musk’s X as the platform struggles to attract and keep users, according to analysts (www.nbcnews.com)

Data from two research firms and figures published by Musk and X suggest a deteriorating situation for X by some metrics. Musk has marketed it as the world’s “town square,” but in number of users it continues to lag far behind social media rivals that focus on video, such as Instagram and TikTok. ...

Well said, I think that is the best explanation I have ever heard on the sites flaws.

General Motors Quits Sharing Driving Behavior With Data Brokers After Backlash (www.nytimes.com)

The decision followed a New York Times report this month that G.M. had, for years, been sharing data about drivers’ mileage, braking, acceleration and speed with the insurance industry. The drivers were enrolled — some unknowingly, they said — in OnStar Smart Driver, a feature in G.M.’s internet-connected cars that...

I could care less who sees my junk. I also would not let someone take pictures of it so I can fuck them. I'm galaxies away from being that desperate.

systemglitch ,

Thank you.

systemglitch ,

Ahh yes, more dear mongering!

The vast majority of the time, saying no is enough. Also carry pepper spray, I do and I'm a guy with extremely good self defense skills, but I'd rather spray than fight some goofs trying to rob me.

systemglitch ,

You don't have to believe me, but it's also true that some people are honest.

systemglitch ,

Ahh yes, let the rage flow through you. Your divisive thinking is exactly the desired outcome.

systemglitch ,

Okay, don't carry pepper spray? That'll keep you safer. Maybe dress like a clown then, since you seem to be talking like one.

systemglitch ,

I'm not sure harassed and assaulted should be in the same sentence with regards to this subject. You may as well compare falling in water to drowning. Basically the same thing with your line of thinking.

systemglitch ,

These people just want to hate on anyone that doesn't say the approved words. It's an ignorant way to handle oneself and ones interactions, but here we are... reading into statements things never expressed.

The irony is how convinced they are in their enlightened superiority. At least, that's how it comes off to me.

how can something be so courageous and yet so true (slrpnk.net)

Edit: Jesus Christ, people. If you buy a $150 Thinkpad made by slave labor instead of a $1,200 MacBook made by slave labor, you're still supporting a capitalist economy based on slave labor. We all do. We have no choice. The number of smug liberals in the comments saying "well I buy a cheap used laptop" or "well I buy coffee...

systemglitch ,

Let me know when someone dies without Starbucks. I have all life, so take your time.

systemglitch ,

I never got anything. But I use disposable emails to verify any accounts I made.

systemglitch ,

And what about cities with cold winters and tons of snow? 10 minutes outside here is no joke

systemglitch ,

Still relevant, more so than whatever side you are picking from both shitty choices.

systemglitch ,

Tough question I don't have an answer for. Both established parties are corrupt beyond measure, pandering to the same group behind closed doors.
