I'll be honest, we've tried so many times to save tf2 and the most we've gotten is valve logging in to their TF2 Twitter. The hell is signing a petition and mailing it to their office gonna do?

Despite the bots the player count is very high and stable. People are still buying keys and items regardless. Plus making games simply isn't valves business anymore, they're a games store and a hardware manufacturer, not a studio. Whether tf2 lives or dies doesn't matter to them, it's negligible relative to valve.

I love the game, it's probably my favorite ever but I'm also a realist. It pains me to say but I don't think this is gonna go anywhere.

It was crazy for me seeing cooler master (yes, the PC cooler company) release new "AI thermal paste". Its just regular-ass thermal paste with very average performance.

weeeeum ,

Yes

I will add that cooler master claims it's a translation error and a better translation would be "AI Suitable Thermal Paste" which is almost just as stupid.

weeeeum ,

This is why I avoid them. Just another lie, and guilt trip, to make the consumer spend more money. Dirty their conscious and make them pay to keep it clean.

The same goes for "eco friendly"/"no emissions" products. Guilt you for killing the planet, and changes nothing themselves.

It's weird because it's the size of lumber BEFORE smoothing the edges. Manufacturers take this inch a mile and the 2x4 (as well as all other dimensional lumber) has gotten smaller and smaller.

Aw dude Chinese takeout always makes me feel like shit. Not Chinese food, mind you, I grew up with a Chinese family and ate tons of the stuff, i cook it myself too.

The takeout on the other hand is just utterly drenched and sopping wet in oil. You can pick up a few noodles and grease will be dripping from them.

I mean, realizing how good the United States is relative to many other countries and especially adversaries does help put things into perspective. Things could be better but at least we have the hope to make things better. Many people don't have that.

weeeeum ,

If it also makes you feel better, most countries in the world continue to exploit their, and other countries populations. In that aspect, the US exploits fewer than many other countries.

weeeeum ,

A huge quiet player in neo colonialism is France. You can watch the new real life lore about it. It's honestly on par with both the UK and US.

God what is it with every social media app sucking hot fucking garbage despite being the most popular way to access it?. Especially if the app was bearable and progressively got worse.

destroy the upper class,

take it up the ass.

Saying the parties "switched" is a large oversimplification. But yes, as the Democrats became anti segregation, it had dissatisfied white, racist, voters in the south. Of which Republicans, were all too happy to cater to, thus the "switch".

The housing mar(ule)ket

Most of you probably know the memes about homes not being affordable to younger generations. It is true, that they are, at least, less affordable as illustrated by Figure 4-1. The reasons for that however aren't evil Landlords, who want to leech as much as possible. It is more a combination of several factors:...

weeeeum ,

I think there also needs to be a real national conversation on HOAs. 84% of new homes are built in HOAs because they rake in cash. They're also so annoying because we have so few consumer protections against them.

I recently watched a news story of how an HOA suddenly became extremely litigious with fines. Saying working on your truck in your garage is proof of habitation. Wood working tools in the garage are proof of habitation, the guy in the news story was fined for over 10,000$ in a short period of time, many of his neighbors simply had to move out.

They can do think because by owning the property, you automatically agree to their terms, even if they change. They can even place a lien on your home for not following their rules.

I think before we can discuss building more homes, we need to discuss real protections for the home owners and restrictions on the currently unbridled power of HOAs.

Sort of, it's more anti ghosting, or configuring the keyboards circuit in a way so all of the "gamer keys" don't interfere with each other. Ghosting is when a certain combination of keys are pressed tricks the matrix, activating another key that isnt pressed at all, hence "ghosting".

Membrane keyboards generally only have 2 key rollover (sometimes if 2 specific keys are pressed, none else will register). Some gaming keyboards will rearrange the circuit so that these specific combinations aren't present near WASD. For example on most keyboards, if you press W,A,S, the S key would not register.

Most of the time I just ignore it. I game a lot, and have a big expensive PC and high refresh monitor but I still game on a model M. Membrane keyboard with 2 key rollover, but it's never really affected me honestly.

Shitty games that are now 200gb each

Man recommending an HDD at all under 4tb is like a crime. They're obsolete beyond very high capacity data storage

I have Sennheiser hd600. They are mindblowingly and I'll never upgrade from them (may need to fix them a few times since the build quality is shoddy). I had to mess with the eq quite a lot to get them to sound perfect though. You can use auto eq, but everyone hears things slightly differently so I do it by ear until I like how it sounds.

I will say that koss ksc75 headphones (with some help from an EQ) can get 70% of the quality of the hd600 and it's like 20$.

    weeeeum ,

If it makes you feel better, I use a dac that's 50 bucks and it sounds great with my Sennheiser hd600s. Frankly I mostly use it for the analogue volume control and treble/bass switch. Also you don't need an amp for headphones/earbuds. These are for only driving power hungry speakers.

    weeeeum ,

There's no difference between 320kbps mp3 and flac and that's a hill I'll die on. Try using some of those blind "mp3 vs flac" websites and it's indistinguishable.

    weeeeum ,

With a bit of help from an EQ they have a decently punchy bass, but still lack in the very lowest frequencies.

    weeeeum ,

You can be a budget audiophile and get surprisingly close to high end headphones. Koss ksc75 (20$) with some EQ can get close to the sound from my Sennheiser HD 600's (300$). Funnily enough the Sennheiser already punches way above its weight and outperforms many headphones that can cost thousands.

    weeeeum ,

No, there are many that prefer "brighter" headphones that focus on treble. I like bass and treble (aka normal person) and they shine at different times. Higher treble has wonderful clarity and bass has excellent immersion.

    weeeeum ,

This may send you on a rabbit hole, but many wired IEMS have a standard connector, which you can buy a wireless adapter for. So you can convert like 90% of IEMs to true wireless with a 30$ adapter from amazon

    weeeeum ,

At a comfortable listening volume, in a pretty quiet place (like a library) they could tell you're playing something, but that's about it. If a fan or ac is running, or a person is peaking then it's unnoticeable.

If you're playing music at louder volumes they could probably tell what you're listening to.

    weeeeum ,

Burnout is the death by a thousand cuts. It's not usually "this ONE thing about my job sucks". It's typically "this is due, that is due, this person is a dick, we have a massive project coming up that we're not prepared for, this person isn't contributing enough, etc".

All these little things beat us down, And it's important to figure, which ones you have no control over, and which can you solve. Try to stop worrying about the ones without control and attempt to focus on those that can be fixed. It may not be all of them but it should help.

Microsoft is once again injecting pop-up ads into Google Chrome on Windows in a bid to get people to switch to Bing (www.theverge.com)

The software giant first introduced malware-like pop-up ads last year with a prompt that appeared over the top of other apps and windows. After pausing that notification to address “unintended behavior,” the pop-ups have returned again on Windows 10 and 11....

    weeeeum ,

Exactly I'm a tech guy and I don't give a fuck how many other tech guys say "bing is really good now", I'm never fucking using it.

    weeeeum ,

Same except it's some horrifying shit like "Ukranians are Nazis, Russians are liberators, the west has fallen, traditional values are being destroyed by woke-ism, gays are destroying America, stop being a low value male", I could go on.

Watch Kyle Hill's video on AI generated content, and the dark forest theory applies to the internet. The internet has become truly hostile today and now I seek to avoid it when I can.

    weeeeum ,

Yeah I've had people that try to get me into anime and they'll say some shit like "it's really boring but after season 7 ITS AMAZING, oh and also season 192 is the best"

    weeeeum ,

That would actually be a terrifying precedent. "Can not pair phone to iCar™. Please use an iPhone next time, moron".

A massive corporate monopoly enforcing the use of its devices by purposefully removing cross compatible functionally between different platforms. Spineless governments don't do anything cause they are toothless and on the payroll.

Get a unicomp model M. They are the continued production of the IBM model M that came with their PS/2 personal computers. They use the same machinery that made the originals thus the modern ones are still "original", which is a fun fact.

But yes, very clacky and noisy. Also very well made and durable for the price.

    weeeeum ,

If you are dedicated to putting out one hell of a racket when typing you can also look into reproduction model F keyboards. They are like 5x more expensive and like 500$. They are solid metal tanks though with super noisy switches.

    weeeeum ,

Yeah I don't understand "but the guy is bigger" argument. If the guy is being yelled at by a taller more muscular wife, is the man being abused because he's the weaker party? What if the guy is bigger but wife is trained by Bruce Lee or some shit. Is the guy still the victim since he's more vulnerable? It's just too ambiguous, and also implies all women are weaker than men, which is stupid.

    weeeeum ,

But the proprietary connector plug itself is almost identical to the lightning connector, the only difference is that the bolster has some notches in it for the BATTERY to lock into. All the locking is in the battery, they could have, should have, used USB C or any other existing connector.

    weeeeum ,

Not to mention the praise for "innovation". I swear to God most of the "innovation" I see is more proprietary or useless shit to screw over the customer. I suppose regarding company priorities that's excellent innovation.

    weeeeum ,

I don't think it has power pass through, meaning that the electricity goes into apples battery pack, into the battery, then into a device. A power pass through means, upon battery and device charging, the battery will route the power from the wall (or second battery) directly to the device.

Power pass through is important because without it there's great inefficiency (less run time) and lots of heat. The battery is being both charged and discharged, creating more heat and wearing the battery down significantly. And also for the love of God just let me plug in any battery I want to.

If a very rotund spider was put on the flag you would have the imperial Japanese flag

    weeeeum ,

It is disingenuous to say that the lethal company dev (zeekers) has little experience. He already has like 5 games on steam and some of them got very popular.

    weeeeum ,

Bold to assume us Americans can actually choose our laws.

    weeeeum ,

Tbh you can even discuss most of that, if you disagree you'll just be torn to shreds.

    weeeeum ,

Repair technician here. Yes we get a lot of hps with bad hinges, because they screw that super stiff hinge into the most floppy wet newspaper like piece of plastic possible. 200$ is reasonable because depending which side it's one you have to completely gut the screen assembly or the keyboard assembly (you use to be able to replace keyboards by themselves now you need to completely gut the whole computer)

Fuck HP but also fuck a lot of other brands cause they all pull this bullshit (dell, apple, Lenovo, Acer, Asus)

    weeeeum ,

I have no idea how no one has picked up on this and have all decided "Americans are dumb".

What everyone has missed is the literacy statistic is for ENGLISH literacy. The other 20% or so are pretty much all immigrants that cannot speak English and there aren't tens of millions of adults with the mental capacity of a rock.

Is this person angry that green peppers cost money because... Theres a bunch of seeds???
