Visa Adds New Way To Share Customer Shopping Data With Retailers (www.businesswire.com)

Visa is rolling out new technology that will allow the payments giant to share more information about customers' preferences [non-paywalled source] based on their shopping history with retailers as it seeks to remain a top player in the competitive e-commerce space. From a report:...

InternetUser2012 ,

I'm sure it'll be very straightforward and easy to do...

Netflix Windows app is set to remove its downloads feature, while introducing ads (www.techradar.com)

Netflix has managed to annoy a good number of its users with an announcement about an upcoming update to its Windows 11 (and Windows 10) app: support for adverts and live events will be added, but the ability to download content is being taken away....

InternetUser2012 ,

I won't watch a show unless it's done. This bullshit of cancelling after one season is ass.

InternetUser2012 ,

I've been ready, ditched that malware over a year ago and it has been great.

InternetUser2012 ,

Next week: Youtube has removed all videos. You will now watch ads only. It's really no different than what you're doing now.

InternetUser2012 ,

As a noobish user, I found it easier to use lutris. I think I'll mess with bottles again, but i couldn't get it to work for me.

InternetUser2012 ,

XP was the golden era, 7 was the last I feel they cared. Now it's just proprietary malware.

InternetUser2012 ,

Everyone bitching about Biden, yet he's actually doing something besides slinging insults and eating adderall. I really hope he curb stomps the cheeto come election time.

InternetUser2012 ,

I don't have a problem with Biden, I feel he's done an adequate job considering what he has to deal with. I would love to see a three way race but all that would do is take blue votes away because red is voting red regardless of who is on the ballot. So a third party is just a W for the red.

InternetUser2012 ,

Our House of Representatives and Senate are more than 20% owned by Russia.

InternetUser2012 ,

I had that happening and switching to wayland fixed it

InternetUser2012 ,

Good enough alone.... Please elaborate on that.

InternetUser2012 ,

The republiclowns taking away womens rights and blaming trans and gay people for their problems is much worse now than in 2012. This country lacks education which would solve all these problems, but educated people won't blindly follow fox "news" and as a result there wouldn't be many republicans in office which is why they're doing everything they can along with help from Russia to hurt the education system and keep people ignorant. The result of better education would likely mean we'd step out of third world territory and get healthcare for all, including mental health which would increase the blue votes even more all the while decreasing mass shootings.

That doesn't fly with the rich. Why do you pay more taxes than the rich? Trickle down? How's that working out? They piss in your face and tell you it's a trans persons fault, or an immigrant and the cult gets their pitchforks. It's silly. It's almost as silly as the gop backing a fucking domestic terrorist with 91 FELONIES.

InternetUser2012 ,

Ahhh, thanks for letting us know you're a piece of shit. I'm sure you wear that badge with pride.

InternetUser2012 ,

Thanks for the confirmation.

InternetUser2012 ,

My kid would watch his videos with ads and I offered to set him up with an alternative with no ads. He said no, I like the ads. I said ok then. That was two years ago. Last week he was losing his shit because of all the ads that made it unwatchable. I set him up with the ad free alternative and I get thanked every day for it.

Youtube is tanking their own platform.

InternetUser2012 ,

It's "refurbed" by the seller. It also says it has approximately 35,000 hours on it. That's 4 years of continual use. I wouldn't trust that with anything.

InternetUser2012 ,

It could. I'm not trusting it with anything important though.

InternetUser2012 ,

That's no different than gas. Your phone still knows what you're doing, the credit card people track you, your car (if newer) tracks your every move. At least with electric you're not forced to listen to bullshit ads and it's cheaper.

That being said, I'll stick with my 14mpg if I don't beat on it corn and dinosaur boned fueled hotrod.

InternetUser2012 ,

They still know who you are. Your browser and settings will give you away.

Please, for the love of God, VOTE! (pawb.social)

I don't like Biden either, but anyone with half a brain knows there are two choices in the 2020 election. If we had a sane voting system, voting third party might be worth it, but as it stands, no one but you knows your favorite candidate exists and unless you want to become their campaign manager that will still be true in...

InternetUser2012 ,

So you're voting for tRump, got it

InternetUser2012 ,

This will be the most important election in the history of the united states. You have two choices, Dictator, or Democracy. A no vote is a vote AGAINST Democracy.

InternetUser2012 ,

Lol, troll.

InternetUser2012 ,

Aye Komrad

InternetUser2012 ,

There won't be another election if tRump wins. Komrad

InternetUser2012 ,

Is it that or is it just bots and trolls? IF they are real people, I'm glad they have a platform to be on so they're recognized for who they really are. Some day, this will all catch up to them all.

InternetUser2012 ,

Not just a Linux user, anyone that needs a printer/copier.

InternetUser2012 ,

That's your settings more than likely.

InternetUser2012 ,

I think their logic behind this complete bullshit is if they make it hard enough on you to dual boot, you'll just stick with windows. I switched over a year ago, never looking back and seeing posts like this one makes me feel even better about it.

InternetUser2012 ,

Hard pass. I'm not going to own a car that spies on me or requires a subscription for something that's already in the fucking car. Eat shit.

InternetUser2012 ,

I'll take the route of I'm not going to own a car that will tell on me, or I will make that car not report.

InternetUser2012 ,

I feel there's a lot of China influence in this thread. I wonder why that is...

InternetUser2012 ,

Might depend on the flavor of Linux, but I had no issue at all with PopOS or Mint

InternetUser2012 ,

PR team hard at work.

InternetUser2012 ,

Hey now, mine ran it flawlessly after three days of tinkering and then rebooting twice a day afterwards.

InternetUser2012 ,

Probably going to be pretty easy to identify you with it though. You'll be tracked by the purchase.

InternetUser2012 ,

Really nice to see other people showing the brother printers love. I have a little laser printer I bought years ago at best buy when I was running a printing business and has well over a million copies on it. I no longer have the business but that printer is still working.

InternetUser2012 ,

We had that happen too after someone "accidentally" printed 3000 copies of all black.

InternetUser2012 ,

That's a quick and easy way to lose your job.

InternetUser2012 ,

It's really so much better. I'm going on a year now since I ditched windows and I have to say it's been great and there's nothing I miss about windows.

InternetUser2012 ,

Wayland runs some games I play much better. It does though for some reason after a while start to lag out with cpu usage off the charts. I found I don't have that issue with xorg. I have amd, and some games with wayland will after a fresh restart have terrible frame rates but seems like five to ten minutes later they come back and it's fine. (issue doesn't happen in xorg) Depending on what game I'm playing or what I'm doing, depends on if run wayland or xorg. It's as simple as logging out to change so it's no big deal for me.

FCC to declare AI-generated voices in robocalls illegal under existing law (arstechnica.com)

Robocalls with AI voices to be regulated under Telephone Consumer Protection Act, the agency says. I'm pretty sure this puts us on the timeline where we eventually get incredible, futuristic tech, but computers and robots still sound mechanical and fake.

InternetUser2012 ,

I had that issue, then got a user agent switcher and made my firefox on linux look like chrome on windows and I have no issues. Using ublock origin

InternetUser2012 ,

I had subscriptions to 4 different streaming sites. They pull bullshit and I cancelled. I now watch everything on one site with better quality streams and no commercials for the cost of a nice vpn. I didn't drop them because I can't afford it, I dropped them because their service sucked and I'm not going to deal with or support that BULLSHIT.
