What kind of a website is that? Super slow and doesn't work without web assembly. Do you really need that for a simple interface

Lojcs ,

No I got what you meant, but that site is weird if it's not doing anything on its own

Lojcs ,

If you can enable wayland / ozone electron apps do fine otherwise still flickery

Lojcs ,

I thought they'd use the same code as windows to interface the card and the issue was with exposing that in a linux-compatible way?

Lojcs ,

Can't this all be prevented by the already connected devices checking if the new device matches a newly purchased, not yet set up device in your purchase history? Really slim chance someone eavesdrops on its id and retransmits fast enough to hijack the setup

Lojcs ,

I don't see why they wouldn't. No way to verify I guess but it's really hard to think Amazon wouldn't come up with a system equivalent or better than what I did while reading this thread.

I imagine it'd be a one time convenience thing, or maybe you could open amazon and click 'set up this device again' or something and it reactivates

Although what constitutes as middle is still unclear. One month? Year? Decade?

Lojcs ,

There's no password involved in that demo

Lojcs ,

Does this matter if it needs a password? Luks stores the key in storage too

What can you get to within a 15-minute walk of your house?

A recent YouGov survey asked Americans what they think they should be able to get to within a 15-minute walk of their house.

Of these choices, I can currently walk to all of them from my apartment, aside from a university (no biggie, I'm not currently studying, although there is a Tafe within walking distance), a hospital, and a sports arena.

How many can you get to with a 15 minute walk from your house?

@fuck_cars

Lojcs ,

Do the 32 percent not know what a bus stop is?? Why would you want a bus stop farther than 15 minutes away????

Lojcs ,

University depends on your age I guess but hospital is certainly more useful than a post office or a bank

Lojcs ,

That's been an issue for a long time. Fake "blogs" made of scraped reddit posts.

Isn't the charge limit of the battery arbitrary? The manufacturer can set whatever target voltage they want , so it's meaningless to say they limit the battery to 80% when they decide what 100% is.

Review and replication are completely different things. If publications had to replicate results during review nothing would get published and submission fees would be through the roof

How are you supposed to fine 7 vulernabilities in an hour anyways? No way they expect the applicant to actually find vulernabilities right? So you need to memorize a bunch and see if they are present, which doesn't achieve anything other than testing your memorization abilities

Lojcs ,

But you don't pay more either. Without the discount on 3 pack, buying odd numbers would've been worse value than even numbers but the 3 pack discount makes all bulk purchases equal.

Does Firefox on android support sandboxing nowadays?

Is xiaomi sold in the US? In every other country you can unlock Samsung phones

I find this very silly. Incognito always had disclaimers about how it doesn't protect you from tracking. Do people not know Google is just a website that does taking (or did anyway) like any other? And how tf did Google lose that lawsuit when eulas have "this software isn't fit for any purpose" clauses and incognito was never advertised for privacy to begin with and straight up tells you it doesnt give you privacy when you open it.

Lojcs ,

I would think such a thing would be a bigger liability. Because even if Google stops tracking you other trackers wouldn't. If people didn't read and understand "this does not protect against trackers" they definitely aren't going to do that with "this will stop Google's trackers but not 3rd party ones".

Lojcs ,

having one's true identity concealed

Which is exactly what the incognito mode does. Being incognito doesn't mean you can't be tracked in your fake identity

Lojcs ,

I stand corrected
