Not having good sunblock back then made people look a lot older than they were.

NocturnalMorning ,

The sun ages your skin. All of the things you just listed affect your brain.

NocturnalMorning ,

That's fun, I was just in croatia.

NocturnalMorning ,

I did not, and I don't understand why you would attack a place where vulnerable people go for help.

I spent a 2+ years and all my personal savings making this game (alone). I love survival games, but I also like cooking... so how about survival game with realistic cooking & eating animations? (programming.dev)

Here is the Steam link if anyone interested in: https://store.steampowered.com/app/3054440/The_Short_Snow/

NocturnalMorning ,

Just add some weird database calls into your responses, should always do the trick.

for stuff in instruction: fek fek fek

Maybe you're doing it wrong. Turn your phone upside down and hop on one leg.

Top EU Court Says There’s No Right To Online Anonymity, Because Copyright Is More Important (www.techdirt.com)

The key problem is that copyright infringement by a private individual is regarded by the court as something so serious that it negates the right to privacy. It’s a sign of the twisted values that copyright has succeeded on imposing on many legal systems. It equates the mere copying of a digital file with serious crimes that...

I guess you subscribe to the theory that if you aren't doing anything wrong, you have nothing to hide? Better hope you have the right state sanctioned religion when a right wing government takes over some day.

NocturnalMorning ,

As far as I'm aware you cannot copyright game mechanics. The only instance of a copyright of a mechanic I'm aware of is from a lord of the rings leveling system (can't remember the name off the top of my head)

Microsoft's new Paint Cocreator requires an NPU — AI-powered feature requires 40 TOPS of performance and a Microsoft account (www.tomshardware.com)

Microsoft quietly added a new AI feature, called Cocreator, into its raster graphics editor included in every version of Windows since 1985. You need a Copilot + PC with an NPU that can deliver 40 TOPS or better to use it. So, you need to shell out at least $1,099 to get one of the new Snapdragon X Windows Copilot+ PCs that...

NocturnalMorning ,

especially as Microsoft recently blocked the last easy workaround to set up Windows 11 without a Microsoft account. Microsoft is likely doing this to stop unscrupulous users from generating illegal images like child and non-consensual deep fake pornography.

Somehow I doubt that's the reason.

NocturnalMorning ,

How's that different from driving a car roughly the same size?

NocturnalMorning ,

I'm honestly surprised at the number of people overexplaining the comic.

NocturnalMorning ,

In my completely unprofessional opinion...no.

We're actually going through the 6th mass extinction right now, so actually we are kinda killing most everything on the planet, not just us.

We should want to preserve that. Unfortunately a handful of old rich dudes don't care.

NocturnalMorning ,

Maybe the old ones who will die soon. But everybody else, including their children will be affected.

NocturnalMorning ,

You could always google it instead of denying that it's happening.

NocturnalMorning , (edited )

This is a really dumb take. The onus of birth control should not be only on the women.

NocturnalMorning ,

I didn't call them dumb, I called the statement a really dumb take, not the same thing.

NocturnalMorning ,

Godot is my goto engine for 2D and 2.5D stuff. It's fairly easy to pick up, it's free, and open source, and there's plenty or tutorials for it.

It uses GDscript which is a python like language, so it's not too difficult to learn. That's usually my recommendation to newbies.

But, I'd say try different things, and you'll figure out what you like personally. You may find something totally different suits your personal taste and interests best.

NocturnalMorning OP ,

Thanks! I haven't really gotten a lot of feedback on the game yet. I'm excited to get a demo out there soon.

NocturnalMorning ,

Except Israel isn't just defending themselves anymore. They're carpet bombing Gaza trying to turn it into a parking lot.

If Israel was just defending themselves, nobody would have an issue with that.

Instead, they're bombing hospitals, and murdering children in cold blood. And the president of Israel has made some very concerning comments indicating that he doesn't see Palestinians as people.

So, yeah, saying Israel has a right to defend itself is a complete mischaracterization of what's going on right now over there.

NocturnalMorning ,

They're committing genocide now, which is ironic given who's doing it.

NocturnalMorning ,

Nah, this only a half truth. Europe is a fantastic place, free health care un most of the countries. But go to a poorer country like Mexico, and you'll see people living in poorly constructed sheds.

When you see that kind of stuff, that's when you realize how fucking rich and well off the U.S. actually is. The poorest of the poor in the U.S. (excluding homeless) are generally better off than the poor in other countries. Not discounting the struggles of the poor in the U.S. (I grew up dirt poor).

But the thing is, we had running water, toilets, and a place to wash our clothes. There are places that have none of that, and not even access to clean drinking water.

Does the U.S. police state blow ass, yes. But acting like we're some backward ass country in the shitter is missing some perspective.

NocturnalMorning ,

Here I thought it was about the ongoing climate crisis, and general degradation and collapse of the ecosystems around us. We're told it's a mental health issue to be worried about the world around us.

The ironic thing is you're comment about being worried about the economy is kind of on the nose as to how we got here. Everyone's so worried about the economy, and our circumstances withim that economy that, nobody is paying attention to the fact that we're making parts of the planet uninhabitable right now.

NocturnalMorning , (edited )

We have one of those at my work, and he talks just like this. I'm honestly not sure what he does all day.

NocturnalMorning ,

Wait, are they sticking with the run-time fee thing? I thought they back pedaled when the community basically revolted over it.

NocturnalMorning ,

Not a chance. I've been using Unreal for a few years now, and as soon as Godot has the features I need I'll go back to it. The company behind Unity has shown they don't care about their engine, just the money they can extract from it. And who's to say they don't change their terms at some future time when things have quieted down, and the dust has settled, to retroactively introduce this run-time fee back into the mix for older versions as well.

NocturnalMorning ,

This comic has triggered me. We do not know why the doppler effect is a thing for light(that I am aware). Is it a wave, is it a particle, both? Only when you observe it? Photons are weird.

NocturnalMorning ,

I always thought the observation collapse of the wave function thing was a little handwavey. I really don't have a resolution for it though, or an alternative.

NocturnalMorning ,

Depends on your point of view. They probably think you're the ones standing on your head 🤣

NocturnalMorning ,

I feel like this is backwards. First off, why isn't the lamp asking for the hit themselves? Second, the letter I is the one who was violently beat. The letter I should be asking for the hit.

NocturnalMorning ,

It's sad to see people making jokes about this. The message is rather clear. The amount of times I've said this exact thing and gotten down voted before is depressing. People seem to want to ignore the issue. If climate change is as bad as predicted, it will affect everyone, and when it does, it will be too late to reverse it, we can only make it less bad.

NocturnalMorning ,

I take climate change very seriously. Everybody should. I joke about plenty of other things in my life,, but climate change isn't one of them.

NocturnalMorning ,

What's sad is we don't have to "live a little" before the world ends. We can stop this. We seem to be determined not too though.

NocturnalMorning ,

We are well underway in the 6th mass extinction. You dont know what you're talking abojt.

NocturnalMorning ,

No one is ignoring the issue.

Yes they are. Plenty of politicians still say it's fake. Lots of people I know in real life saying it isn't man made, or it's not real, or we don't need to deal with it bcz it's the coming rapture. If we were paying attention to it, we wouldn't need scientists doing the research to protest.

NocturnalMorning ,

I don't need to educate myself. I live with someone who does climate adaptation research. Hell, we are ignoring the more important issue right now which is ecological collapse. Arguably that's going to screw us way more than the changes in weather that are coming.

And I've read the IPCC reports compiled by scientists, I don't need to watch youtube videos on the subject.

NocturnalMorning ,

I'll never understand why we keep doing this. We have record productivity compared to this same time a hundred years ago, but we work the same amount of hours roughly regardless. Humans aren't built for modern life. It's no wonder people struggle when we toil away in factories 6 days a week, and sit at computers in offices all day long. No time to actually live life. Just gotta make the boss richer so he can get a bigger yaht.

NocturnalMorning ,

Thanks I guess

Released my work building on a Godot tutorial as a short game - as it is my first, I'd appreciate any and all feedback :) (abnormalhumanbeing.itch.io)

A few weeks ago, I started on a basic tutorial for developing games in Godot: "Ultimate Instruction to Godot 4" on YouTube by Clear Code. My goal was to not just finish the tutorial, but to build on it and create a small game with semi-professional standards. Here is said game, my first attempt not only at developing in Godot,...

NocturnalMorning , (edited )

I can't believe the tutorial you followed is 11 hours long. Phew that's a lot of perseverance to get through all that. Nice job, and congrats on your first game!

NocturnalMorning ,

I thought the joke was that he needed better glasses
