I assume no legal entities are involved here, and these are made and put up entirely undercover by activists.

@Obi@sopuli.xyz avatar

Yes that was my point/assumption, they just printed them themselves and go put them up in the dark of the night.

Edit: this link was totally awesome, made me seriously consider it haha.

Doesn't come out of your hours so yes in practice you finish later and/or start earlier.

Yeah it's pretty shit tbh, but also total weekly is 35h max, tons of vacations, etc etc etc. Also very dependant by workplace, depends if the boss is modern or old school, etc. Some people definitely enjoy the long mid-day break, also realistically if the bossman takes you out and orders a bunch of wine, expectations for the afternoon are gonna be low...

Also shit gets weird when you start going south, shops will close from 12:00 to 16:00, morning open at 10/11, it's maniana maniana. Overall I would rate France not the best country to work in but it's mostly because you then have to deal with not only French people but also French administration, and F that. Overall work conditions and benefits are good (salaries not so much). I personally GTFO of there and much enjoyed the faster pace where I live now but I'm kinda getting over it and the slower rhythm sounds more tempting now.

Bird in the hand is worth two in the bush.

Obi ,

Hey now, don't leave the French out of it, they work hard at being bâtards! I think the only ones I see actually trying to be respectable during protests are the Dutch (that I'm aware of).

Obi ,
@Obi@sopuli.xyz avatar

Haven't watched it in forever for obvious reasons, but I recognized it right away.

Obi ,

In my village in the Netherlands bat roosts are installed in a bunch of places, they also mandate that houses have little box things on their side for them. Never seen a single bat lmao, but in the old family house in France there's a bunch in the attic.

You just gotta stick to it, the rocket league progress curve is incredibly steep at the beginning, but if you just brute force through it for a bit you'll reach the first plateau where you actually manage to touch the ball once in a while. Getting over that plateau is a different story and the progress curve is much slower after that.

Also go and do the training sets, start with the easiest ones until you nail them then move on to the next one, etc.

RL is pretty much the only game I still play regularly because I've been playing it for a long time and I can just do one game if I don't have much time, most other games require too much of my very limited free time.

Is that like graduation from high school at 18yo, for the non-americans in the audience?

Thanks.

Not exactly the same vibe but I keep a good memory of getting engrossed into this anonymous writer that made a whole story in Reddit comments: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/9MOTHER9HORSE9EYES9

It's very dark and mysterious, it was crazy cool waiting for the next comment to drop but I think there's a repository somewhere so you can just read them all in order.

Obi ,
@Obi@sopuli.xyz avatar

Where are you from? Where I live (in the Netherlands) there's an official tool from the public transport services which works just as well as gmaps to plan your train/tram/metro/bus journey.

I just watched a video essay about design that talked about this, basically before the iPhone manufacturers were trying all kinds of crazy shit, after the iPhone it was black rectangles all around.

I tend to make "real" cocktails now but when I do go for a mixer like G&T, Dark&Stormy etc you can bet your ass the result isn't at 7%.

Obi ,
@Obi@sopuli.xyz avatar

Right I eyeball it so it's hard to be sure but I'd say between 1:2 and 40% liquor probably, + lots of ice. That's still about twice as strong as these premixeds, you'll certainly tell the difference. I just don't like neat liquor but I'm getting really into "short" cocktails, things like whiskey sours, basil smash, margaritas, gimlets etc where it's mostly the main liquor with some complements.

I would definitely have fun spending an evening with him, in the same way it'd be fun watching a giant dumpster fire or some kind of natural disaster.

Obi ,
@Obi@sopuli.xyz avatar

Yeah it gets ruined because we actually read the accent aigu and that removes the double meaning completely. I had to think like a non-speaker to get it, it was quick but I had to go back and think about it.

Obi ,
@Obi@sopuli.xyz avatar

It's bad enough on its own but the fact it's where one would imagine a butthole could conceivably be placed on the car just seals the deal.

Obi ,
@Obi@sopuli.xyz avatar

It's just a little Planetarian genocide, it can happen to anyone really.

Obi ,
@Obi@sopuli.xyz avatar

Don't they do both? Like they have the big-logo stuff for the wannabes that is just overpriced H&M, but don't they also make actual nice suits and stuff.

Obi ,

Money is pretty fucking real when you actually need it.

Verily, when one doth profess concern for the welfare of vegans, yet doth engage in mockery and jest regarding their potential dearth of sustenance, 'tis most probable that such a one harbors no genuine care for the vegan's well-being. 'Tis indeed vexatious and perturbing, if truth be told.

Now I wonder if there's a correlation between companies using Microsoft package being companies less obsessed with crunch culture...

If you're like me weather has a huge influence on my work so you develop an oversensitivity to it and always looking at the sky taking notes, observing how it behaves and learning to predict what it's gonna do next.

Obi ,
@Obi@sopuli.xyz avatar

Not at all haha, I'm a small media producer and drone pilot.

Obi ,

Depends on what job I'm applying to, if it's a job I really want for sure I'll be writing an awesome cover letter, e.g. when I tried and got very close to working for an amazing NGO that would've sent me and my family to Polynesia you bet I was giving my best in the application. If I'm applying for a batch of faceless companies XYZ then yeah screw that.

I'm turning into these people that give advice no one asked for, but as of this morning I'm 20kg down on my weight loss journey, only 3kg from my initial goal and about to transition from intense calorie control to lifting weights and growing muscle, so it feels right.

If you do want to lose the chub, I strongly suggest simply tracking your calories and adding even just a little bit of sport weekly. I didn't do much sport at all yet because the low calories mean low energy, also it's been much easier for me to control calories than exercise, because it's something I simply need to not do, as opposed to having to take time out of my day (though I'm now getting at the point of the journey where this is gonna have to change).

I went for MyFitnessPal for calorie counting though there are better options like Chronometer with only verified foods but if you're not in the US like me it doesn't have everything, MFP has everything but it's user submitted, so just double check with the labels.

I also started weighing in every morning (but don't be too bothered by daily figures, look at weekly averages instead). Smart scale is great for this.

I also have a Garmin watch to track my vitals and exercising but seriously, calorie/macro control was by far the number one thing that helped. It feels like I was blind to food my whole life and only now finally learning about what goes into my body, just having the vision/knowledge of what I eat and drink makes all the difference. Also helped me kick my alcohol usage way down. Drinking 2.8L of water a day also helps with the cravings.

Anyway that's me out, putting the soapbox away now :D

@Obi@sopuli.xyz avatar

Oh yeah for sure, physical appearance should be pretty low on the list of considerations in your partner unless you're just shallow or looking for one night stuff. I'm happily married so I'm not even doing it for women at all (well, for one woman I guess), more for my health and making sure I'm able to play/do stuff with my kid and a bit for my work also. I was just riding high on progress this morning, saw the word chub and just went off lmao.

Obi ,
@Obi@sopuli.xyz avatar

There's always cocaine... I'm kidding!! But the truth is yeah if you go hard on limiting calories, there's gonna be moments you're feeling the hunger, it's natural, you should feel that in your life that's the normal way. It helps a lot to focus on foods that provide good long term sustenance, proteins, healthy fats, and the right amount of carbs (that's where the app comes in).

Obi ,
@Obi@sopuli.xyz avatar

Yes that's how it goes for me, and panel 3 is me on my way to panel 4. A friend literally sent this comic to me today saying "you're all of them".

Obi ,
@Obi@sopuli.xyz avatar

Yeah he's the first one I think of whenever this event comes up.

Obi ,
@Obi@sopuli.xyz avatar

Wouldn't a nice fake work just as well for that purpose? Like not a 20€ fake from the Vintimille market but a nice one.

Obi ,
@Obi@sopuli.xyz avatar

Good point for some reason I was only thinking of the "you're getting bullied at a road stop by third world police in a country you'll never go back to" types of situations.

Obi ,
@Obi@sopuli.xyz avatar

It happened to me once and cost me about 70€ if I remember well, basically the fine magically was exactly the amount I had in there which they saw during the search..

Obi ,
@Obi@sopuli.xyz avatar

Actually when I moved here from Reddit I really enjoyed that it seemed like the perspectives weren't so US-focused. I don't know if there were really more non-US folks or if maybe the more left leaning userbase meant I noticed it less. But now I feel like I've been in quite a few threads where US dominance was in full force, like the one asking why weed is illegal but alcohol not, or anything that mentions gun control.

From my limited experience, kiwis and Canadians are friendly in a more polite/well-mannered way, Aussies are friendly in a more, errr, "colourful" way.

I think they just meant that the rear tail lights have the union jack and didn't realize they were talking about the amber indicators.
