As far as I can tell this basically means that all apps must be approved by Apple to follow their "platform policies for security and privacy" even if publishing on a third party app store. They will also disable updating apps from third party app stores if you stay outside the EU for too long (even if you are a citizen of an EU...

It's not malice though, it's cold, unfeeling greed. Malice implies they want to cause harm; all they want is to extract maximum profit. Sometimes it's by being malicious, sometimes it's by being altruistic, for instance pretending to care about an oppressed minority in order to improve their image. The only decision is "will the cost of this action be less than the profit it makes?"

    The difference is all that stuff went away, traditional desktop computers aren't going anywhere. Sure, you can probably manage fine at home with just a phone, but not in a lot of jobs.

    If you have two potential opponents, a slightly crazy one and a really crazy one, and you think you're more likely to be able to beat the really crazy one then it's a calculated risk to try and help the really crazy one beat the slightly crazy one for you. Your gamble doesn't pay off if suddenly the really crazy one beats you though.

    Wtf do you people think "liberal" means? Some people think it means communist, some think it means socialist, some somehow think it means fascist. I'd love to what you actually mean when you use a word that has a specific meaning of "anti-authoritarian".

    Firstly, thanks for actually giving me an answer! Secondly, that sounds insane, I've never heard any definition of "liberal" that means that, though I have heard that the USA just has their own completely different definition of the word. For instance in Britain the term "liberal democracy" is used to mean "not a dictatorship". Language is about communication, assuming everyone uses your own pejorative definition of a word is not good for discussion!

    It may also be far too general of a term to be of value.

    This is my main complaint. We humans love putting things in little categories and labels, but if you're using a word that you think means X and everyone else thinks it means Y or Z then suddenly we're all taking at cross purposes and everyone thinks everyone else is chatting shit.
