I'm not op, so I'm just guessing here

I think they meant a sort of "at the first sign of pushback, the companies will ditch LGBT people. Don't mistake their gay logos as actually support"

SqueakyBeaver ,
@SqueakyBeaver@lemmy.blahaj.zone avatar

btw did you know I use Linux :p

SqueakyBeaver ,
@SqueakyBeaver@lemmy.blahaj.zone avatar

I'm using bazzite, so I've had absolutely no issues (note that I have an Intel iGPU bc shitty laptop)

SqueakyBeaver ,
@SqueakyBeaver@lemmy.blahaj.zone avatar

I liked it except for that "ad blocking is piracy" shit he snuck in there

SqueakyBeaver ,
@SqueakyBeaver@lemmy.blahaj.zone avatar

I found that thread because I was curious
I've skimmed it and saw many instances of people going "but it's only on the snapdragon x chip", as if Intel and AMD aren't gonna release the same CPUs but capable of more AI shit

SqueakyBeaver ,
@SqueakyBeaver@lemmy.blahaj.zone avatar

Yeah I tried installing it a year or two ago, but a lot of the hardware on my laptop (only machine atm) was not compatible. It was stuff like the touchpad not even being detected.
I booted into the same install iso a few months ago and somehow it all worked.

It's a shit show sometimes, but it can surprise you

I just say Google hoping that the trademark will eventually become generalized like escalator

My Samsung A11 (android 12) has a "lockdown" option when you held the power button. It would turn off all biometrics and hide notifications. You may have to dig in the settings to enable it, though

SqueakyBeaver ,
@SqueakyBeaver@lemmy.blahaj.zone avatar

Most of those are optional lol
The only ones that aren't are the network ones, and after looking at the source code, it's mostly used for error messages

Same energy as "no offense, but..." or, more extremely, "not to be racist, but..."

I think they mean that a lot of proprietary software (supposedly) has a large (or at least well-founded) team working on it

SqueakyBeaver ,
@SqueakyBeaver@lemmy.blahaj.zone avatar

I mean, they didn't though
Theoretically, well-funded teams would be able to create more secure software and fix vulnerabilities faster than some random guy who works a full-time job and codes in his free time

SqueakyBeaver ,
@SqueakyBeaver@lemmy.blahaj.zone avatar

I'm sorry that I'm apparently not getting my point across to you

Proprietary software is often made by a corporation, who pays full-time developers. Those full-time developers are given a salary to work on that software. That salary is normally more than what open-source devs make off their software. The team who is paid to work full-time on the software will patch issues faster (theoretically)

I bet you'll find something wrong with this, but I don't care

If it helps, I'm pretty sure the devs are in the process of rewriting the UI on a private repo. Idk if there's any eta or progress chart

I doubt the teacher really believed this, and they were likely striving to just open their students' minds to the idea that most innovations are probably assumed to be made by men

    My one piece of advice for if you ever end up switching to Linux is to not use an Arch-based distro. I'm sure there's one that requires no tinkering, but every Arch distro I've used required me to tinker

    SqueakyBeaver ,
    @SqueakyBeaver@lemmy.blahaj.zone avatar

    Isn't this like, the 5th time he's said this or something? Why am I seeing this in a lot of places like it's huge news?

    SqueakyBeaver ,
    @SqueakyBeaver@lemmy.blahaj.zone avatar

    it's honestly not hard once you've installed the distro

    But just use whatever works best for you IMO

    Idk which games you're referring to, but I (somehow) used steam tinker launcher to do modding on fallout new vegas

    I literally know someone with this type of issue.
    Battery goes from like 70 to 20 in maybe 20 minutes

    Their phone isn't even that old

    SqueakyBeaver ,
    @SqueakyBeaver@lemmy.blahaj.zone avatar

    not entirely sure tbh
    Just know their battery is shit at this point

    I think they discontinued the iPod a few years ago

    I could be totally wrong, but this meme could be referring to conservatives who (I think) recently went after Taylor Swift for her carbon emissions (idk why, that's never been an issue for them before)

    SqueakyBeaver ,
    @SqueakyBeaver@lemmy.blahaj.zone avatar

    Idk why but this makes me want to write one of the funniest and least professional resumes possible, but still make it show off my skills and stuff.

    One metaphor I've seen that I really liked is something along the lines of:
    When you're given vanilla ice cream, you might not hate it. Some people do, but you're okay with it. However, chocolate ice cream is something you want much more, so you opt to switch in your vanilla for chocolate. (I'm bad at analogies)

    All in all, from what I see, bon-dysphoric trans people are just trans people who are much happier as their preferred gender, but don't really hate their agab in a dysphoria way.

    Note: it's been a hot minute since I've though about trans meds and this stuff. Also, I'm dysphoric if that matters at all.

    It's got social (comments)
    And it's got media (some posts)

    Therefore it is.... idk I don't feel like finishing the thought tbh

    Oh yay another thing I can add to my list of "ways in which Apple's marketing is extremely predatory"
