Do they at least require insurance on anything that goes faster than 15 mph or similar?

Treczoks ,

How many people can really control a bike at 28mph?

Treczoks ,

So, are you insured in case you run someone over?

Treczoks ,

Yes, you can easily get that fast, but can you also brake fast and reliably enough, too, so humanity is safe around you?

Treczoks ,

And with such an abomination, they would have to state how much honey is in there.

I, to my daughter: "For (this and that reason), you have to reboot your laptop." Daughter: "But then I have to close the browser!!!" - she basically uses hundreds of browser tabs as temporary bookmarks, having pages open for weeks occasionally. Having to close down the browser is a panic-inducing thing for her...

Delivering ads to people who are armed up to the teeth with adblockers requires quite some research effort.

Treczoks ,

That's what some hotels offer for their "Tea making facilities". We bring tea bags from home which are prefectly recyclable, even better since they don't use a metal clip anymore, but use stiching to connect the thread to the tea bag and the label.

Treczoks ,

They have stolen mine as well. It was a nice game, but it was not worth getting a Microsoft account for it.

Treczoks ,

Other developers have nice software, too!

Treczoks ,

Can we now call Microsoft software compromised?

Treczoks ,

Because many eyes are there watching it. While not everyone is an active kernel hacker, many parties have an active interest in certain aspects of the kernel, and watch source code and patches closely.

Treczoks ,

There are already self destructing harddisks. They are used in military systems and have a thermite package.

Treczoks ,

Not only in Canada. My wife just commented that she has never even seen a 500ml Guinness can, both single and multipack come in 440ml here.

According to the predictions of the antivaxxers, he probably should have been exploded with the force of a hydrogen bomb long ago...

Treczoks ,

How does this make sense? If you've got an NVIDIA card, you don't need an emulation level. And if you have a different hardware that needs an emulation layer, you don't have to agree to those NVIDIA terms, because you are not using their products.

Treczoks ,

Ah, OK. TIL. Thanks.

Treczoks ,

Why would you want to do this, anyway? Or, as I as a developer regularly have to ask our sales people: what do you actually want to achieve that led you to this question?

Treczoks ,

But you don't need several LANs for this. This can easily done with proper routing. A can access internet and internal network addresses. B can only access internet, and C can only reach internal addresses.

Treczoks ,

Then why don't you ask the people who do this?

Treczoks ,

I'm pretty sure I don't do this ;-) I know how routing works.

Treczoks ,

That's what MAC whitelists are for. Your DHCP server should be able to handle this.

Identify your friendly devices and give them one setting with everything (full subnet and correct default GW). Identfy your IoT devices, and give them another (full, or specially limited subnet mask, and fake default GW, maybe a different nameserver, too). Anything else is guest and gets a very limited subnet mask and a working default GW.

Treczoks ,

I know that this would be the most secure way. But I seriously doubt that this level is necessary in a normal home network.

Treczoks ,

MAC whitelist.

Treczoks ,

Well, I think it is necessary if you have mobile devices. Anything nailed down should be connected by wire, but if it is mobile, it should get the connection. Especially if the cell phone link is not that good inside the house.

Older Computer Programmers & Engineers

Lately, I was going through the blog of a math professor I took at a community college back when I was in high school. Having gone the path I did in life, I took a look at what his credentials were, and found that he completed a computer science degree back sometime in the 1970s. He had a curmudgeonly and standoffish...

I learned things like logic circuits in my CS course in school. And processor basics. I built an elevator control with flipflops and logic gates.

Today, some students have FPGA courses, and it is a total mess. If it is no high-level language or web-enabled, it simply is an unsurmountable mystery for most of them.

I hope they get Facebook by the balls for this. I know that Facebook has data about me without my consent - it asks users to basically upload their addressbooks to "find friends", and people who have my data in their addressbook are on Facebook. And I don't believe that if the Facebook algorithm does not find a match for an address book entry immediately just deletes that entry. Heck, even that matching violates my rights to my data.

Don't worry, the IPO will not stop the losses. It will just provide a pool for more bonus payments for the management.

Treczoks ,

Only interesting if this works under Linux.

Reddit Is Letting Power Users In on Its IPO. Not Everyone’s Buying (www.wired.com)

Reddit Is Letting Power Users In on Its IPO. Not Everyone’s Buying::Reddit says it wants to reward users by letting them buy into the company’s public listing. Some say it’s too risky—others say they won’t pay a company they’ve already given hours of free labor to.

I got an invite, too. I reported of as spam.

Treczoks ,

This is not about being useful or facts. These are just pseudo-magic words that make managers feel that they have accomplished something.

While they haven't.

Treczoks ,

So they can replace the manually faked women by AI generated ones?

Holy cow. My sisters VW Beetle did this once, too. It was quite fresh out of inspection/repair, and whatever those guys did to the motor, they forgot to pull the screws tight again...

Treczoks ,

If a company uses AI tools without thinking, it should bear the consequences. Regardless if the AI fcks up hiring processes or hands out free money to customers like air Canada did.

Treczoks ,

This could be seen as a life-endangering move, and the data company should be held reliable, not just for this act, but also for any problems their victims have to endure.

Treczoks ,

People like that belong behind bars. They are a danger to humans.

Treczoks ,

A server on the internet is no safe place for data you don't want to be public.

Treczoks ,

If an AI friend is "better" than a normal friend, it looks like something in the social environment is seriously broken.

Along with the termination of perpetual licensing

Just so? Termination of a perpetual licence?

Keep in mind that AD, Office, and Exchange is he holy trinity of getting hacked in the last years.

Wifi jamming is an easy thing to do, as the whole 2.4GHz band works on the assumption that everyone is nice to each other. One non-cooperative device, and everything in that band goes down: Wifi, BT, Garage door openers, Car key fobs...

Treczoks ,

On top of that, having a bunch of cameras on wifi is a good way to flood the spectrum and make it useless for normal wireless devices. Rule of thumb for network devices: Unless it is really used as mobile, wire it.

If you can steal a car with a Flipper Zero, then this is definitely not the fault of the Flipper Zero.

Treczoks ,

If the flipper can help you stealing a car, the flipper is not the problem, but the neglect and incompetence of the car company is.
