bitchkat ,

I'm not a gamer or a xitterhead but what would these consoles do with xitter integration.

bitchkat ,

Fuck you comcast. I'm sure they are one of the instigators.

bitchkat ,

I love my NUCs but haven't really paid attention to what has happened since Intel sold that line to ASUS.

bitchkat ,

Don't forget that before Digg we were all on slashdot. Its like the cylons: What happened before will happen again. Or we're living in a horrible simulation.

bitchkat ,

Upgrade to Fedora 40 was downright boring.

bitchkat ,

Maybe we should replace Stack Overflow with another site where experts can exchange information? We can call it "Experts Exchange".

bitchkat ,

I do all the time and my son makes fun of me for it. That's how we rolled in the late 70's/early 80's

bitchkat ,

irrelevant if she was born with a rare difference of sexual development that makes neither of the above possible,

Sounds like being born with a condition that makes your bits not develop the same as your brain would qualify?

bitchkat ,

Of course she'll disagree.

bitchkat ,

He used a banana, an organic dildo, and a carrot. It snapped the carrot and then he decided to try with his arm, hand, and finger.

bitchkat ,

So you're confirming that it snapped the carrot? And then he tried it with body parts.

bitchkat ,

Buy the correct size trash bags for your trash can?

bitchkat ,

its called "Full Self Driving (Supervised)" now

bitchkat ,

Specifically Auto Pilot is lane keep and traffic aware cruise control (it will slow down if you're going faster than the car in front)
FSD adds auto lane changes (it can do it by itself or the driver can initiate with the turn signals), makes turns necessary to follow navigation. It does a pretty decent job on freeways.

That they are working on now is getting FSD to work better on city streets and secondary highways

Elon Musk says it's his turn to have the remote (www.engadget.com)

[Xitter] just announced a smart TV app for streaming video. Or, more accurately, that it claims it's building one, with absolutely no launch date mentioned. The appropriately-named [Xitter] TV wants to be “your go-to companion for a high-quality, immersive entertainment experience on a larger screen.”

bitchkat ,

He didn't get the Twitter app for Roku when he bought them? I remember having to install that app to watch some NFL game or something.

bitchkat ,

Unfortunately that's not a net neutrality issue.

bitchkat ,

I had comcast business class for many years at my old house. When I downsized to my condo, I'm at the mercy of the HOA. They have comcast communities and I can't get business class. Its not terrible but I had to pay $20/mo to upgrade to 1000mb down just to get decent upload speeds. I wish we had a local company USI, that sells fiber internet for very reasonable prices and no data caps. My son's building has it. I moved my plex server to my friend's house who is on USI as well just to keep my bandwidth consumption down.

bitchkat ,

At my son's place, the person that was renting from the previous owner did not use the provided USI but instead paid for CenturyLink, USI had to come and rewire to the patch panel in the utility closet. The tech was great.

bitchkat ,

That would be because those ads are done by injecting them into content the user has requested.

bitchkat ,

How would converting an ICE to an EV reduce the need for lithium?

bitchkat ,

I prefer to give them the Benadryl earlier in the evening.

bitchkat ,

It was whiskey they used according to my Mum.

bitchkat ,

I did that few years ago when I re-ripped all my CDs and vinyl to flac.

bitchkat ,

I have never liked Windows. Unix workstations or linux pretty much since the mid 80's. My current pet peeve is companies that block email clients except Outlook from connecting to their mail server (Exchange).

bitchkat ,

AXS does not integrate with google wallet. I put a note in each calendar event which app the tickets are in. At least the Pixel phones now let you put anything in your wallet that is a QR code. I wish it would let us put plain old images in the wallet.

bitchkat ,

AXS doesn't let you put their tickets into digital wallet.

bitchkat ,

Every sporting event I've been to in the past few years is exclusively digital tickets. Even the local amateur women's soccer team.

bitchkat ,

Two years on, I'm still getting mail addressed to the guy I bought the place from (he died shortly after). I write "Deceased. Please Forward". I've been up to the post office they swear they will take care of it but still it come. His realtor says they did a forwarding to his daughters and even paid for the "extra" forwarding. I think the mailman is a dick.

X automatically changed 'Twitter' to 'X' in domain names, breaking legit URLs (mashable.com)

On Monday, it appears X attempted to encourage users to cease referring to it as Twitter and instead adopt the name X. Some users began noticing that posts viewed via X for iOS were changing any references of "Twitter.com" to "X.com" automatically....

bitchkat ,

Work "friends" or also known as colleagues. Sometimes you just make do.

bitchkat ,

X is a window system not a window manager. The window manager is a client application that talks to the X server.

bitchkat ,

I immediately thought of the good old Scheiffler and Gettys book: https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/51YpMj4WSPL._SL500_.jpg

bitchkat ,

Tell me you didn't read the article without telling me you didn't read the article.

bitchkat ,

that's why it's work "friends".

bitchkat ,

EU uses the WLTP method of testing range and its way more optimistic that the process we use in the USA.

bitchkat ,

My last two jobs require(d) me to run windows. At one, I spent 95% of my time in a Linux VM so it was more tolerable.

bitchkat ,

Usually just VirtualBox VM's -- i've never touched WSL except for the original version way back in the 90's I think.

bitchkat ,

I was thinking of the earlier incantation called Windows Services for Unix.

bitchkat ,

I'm leaving that up because its kind of funny how I mangled that.

bitchkat ,

Are you guys installing the extension pack? That's when the licensing weenies get to work. My old job ended up blocking oracle.com which was really fun for trying to read java docs. I would have to set up an ssh tunnel to my home server in order to download vbox release.

bitchkat ,

We had one in Minneapolis at the Mall of America when it opened. It had a great selection but I was still partial to Cheapo, Northern Lights, and Positively 4th St. Cheapo is still around and I stop in there a few times a year. The other 2 closed down a long time ago -- possibly before MOA opened in the early 90's I think,

bitchkat ,

They do not. But they are the best place to buy TVs IMHO.

bitchkat ,

Hopefully not too many people thinking that NN bans bandwidth caps.

bitchkat ,

I think its just more that they aren't super common in parts of the US, especially colder climates. I've only seen one and that was parents who got it as a supplemental system.

bitchkat ,

Do you have a newsletter I can sign up for?

bitchkat ,

Or Gnu plus Hurd as I've been recently calling it.
