I think its not just kids anymore, it's adults too. Everyone is glued to their screens these days. But kids are more vulnerable to influences from "social" media and don't have any defences to the psychological warfare going on. Of course they feel like shit.

So set fucking limits on the phone? Is 'all or nothing' somehow the only option? It's not hard to set time limits, restrict apps, and generally be involved in your kids lives to help them understand and learn moderation and healthy recognition of bad habits forming. Simply taking shit away also doesn't help cause there's no opportunity to make mistakes and learn. Where's the fucking middle ground?

Meanwhile my kids and all their classmates seem friendlier and more mentally healthier than I remember school age being. It's all anecdotal. I'm always surprised at certain ages how some of these kids don't allow bullying, and aren't concerned with stupid relationship shit that I remember 20-30 years ago. It's interesting.

I also know shitloads of adults depressed from Doom scrolling all day.

So many of these comments are breaking down into arguments of basic consent for pics, and knowing how so many people are, I sure wonder how many of those same people post pics of their kids on social media constantly and don't see the inconsistency.

Haven't seen that analogy in a long time. I used to debate this with people out of curiosity and was horrified at some peoples insistence that destroying some innocent lives is perfectly fine so long as we got all the actual criminals.

I haven't been to a theater in more than a decade, I almost never eat at places that traditionally request tips (cause I don't agree with it), and I have literally never once ever used a service like Uber or DoorDash.

Helps avoid adding new costs to my lifestyle by simply trying not to care about these things. I don't trust people, and I don't mind driving, so I would never use on eof those services, amd I feel like my couch and TV at home look and sound better than a theater, amd I'm more comfortable.

Another tip, if you ever get the itch for a new car, instead go pay for a car detail cleaning. It'll make you feel good for a while and is far cheaper.
