I personally blame the failure of the United States, United Kingdom, and United Soviet Socialist Republics for their failure to deal with the humanitarian crisis of 1930s Germany (read: accept all Jewish refugees) resulting in a traumatized stateless people feeling they needed to reclaim their ancestral home by any means necessary as an existential crisis. From there we have seen failure after failure to attempt peaceful coexistence from either side or to attempt safe and peaceful decolonization from the Israeli government or any other world government or for the world to accept Palestinians’ right to create a nation

That being said Israel is a colonizer state and an apartheid state. Who is to blame for what is currently happening? Israel and Hamas. Who is the victim? The people of Palestine. A people who are overwhelmingly too young to have voted in the last election. Since that point Hamas has refused to hold elections and has moved from moderate anti colonial to this. Furthermore Israel has spent the time since the nakba more or less going full USA on their colonized people.

Wait, easy? I have to go without from time to time despite multiple diagnoses of it throughout different life stages, including one from a “medication as a last resort” psychiatrist who explicitly said that stimulant medication is absolutely necessary for me.

I’ve gone months without due to shortages, and due to physician issues. I’ve been drug tested to ensure I don’t smoke pot more times than I remember. I’ve had psychiatrists who refused to continue care because they “don’t prescribe that drug/dose”.

Meanwhile I’ve had to shoo away opiates because I’m allergic but get them anyways.

Yep that certainly is exactly the bullshit I was taught in the Midwest.

I wish schools were able to use the categories of “do your research” “probably a bad idea” and “definitely a bad idea”. There are drugs kids need to be warned about and by being honest about marijuana and lsd you build credibility when you tell them to never try opiates and that poppers may not ruin your life, but like there’s never a situation where they’re a good idea.

We also need to be honest about how we got into our opioid epidemic and how most heroin addicts got hooked after getting prescribed.

Kids are stupid but they aren’t stupid how us adults think they are. When we lie to them they remember to discount everything we say, even to not smoke cigarettes.

Not only can alcohol be used as a date rape drug, it’s the most common one. It’s safer for the assailant to give you a stronger drink than you think you’re getting than to give you something like roofies. Additionally bartenders will gladly do it as it’s not uncommon for someone to want a double.

Unfortunately my state does not and at no point in my life has it considered prohibiting straight teenagers from getting married. In fact my girlfriend married a man in high school.

It’s hard and it hurts. Self improvement, especially when you’ve been publicly vocal, requires humbling yourself. It involves accepting shame. And it sounds like in her case it involves reprocessing some trauma. I know who I choose to be, but on a much lesser scale I’ve met plenty like her. Folks who make the choice not to reevaluate their beliefs

Yeah in college I tried to switch for nerd cred and it sucked, but over the past year I switched and while I’ve had some hiccups, I honestly think it’s more a result of me going with an arch based distro than a Debian one. I’m thinking I may hop soon, but I assume it’ll be a massive pain

Funny, one of my longstanding frustrations with windows was that I didn’t get a say in my keyboard shortcuts. Namely the fact that the shortcut to swap keyboard layouts has historically been very easy to accidentally hit.

Oh wonderful, it’s an old pc my job was throwing out last summer so it’s like a 5-8yo intel. It’s not powerful by any means, but if I can run enough on it to justify the standby power draw it would be great.

Unfortunately I still have no idea wtf I’m doing lol, but worst case I break it all and wind up buying a home assistant green. I’ve committed to ensuring my home has good air and this is a project I think we’ll appreciate me following through with

Wait are you telling me that the company that ties a debit card to my name and is owned by the founder of a surveillance company and funder of fascists isn’t secure? /s But yeah, Venmo is the opposite of secure, but it’s filled a specific use case that cash is great for and that crypto often likes to act like it’s good for.

So what would it take for me to trust a cryptocurrency? Stability, wide use, actual security, and low transfer costs and risks. It’s competing with cash and Venmo for use case so it needs to actually compete with them.

I think crypto has more or less shit the bed here. BTC is created by a gold fetishist and is deflationary. The whole of normal people’s perception of crypto is that it’s an investment. There’s also the resource intensity of everything. There’s just so many problems here that cash just resolves.
