Facebook does not allow you to create multiple accounts though, so it is practically wrong

cosmicrookie OP ,
@cosmicrookie@lemmy.world avatar

I left it back in November and deleted everything, but from what I see, it just keeps getting more and more complicated for no reason at all. The link between Facebook and Instagram could have been so much simpler, but it feels like a huge mess to set up and edit. Posting works well, when it works, but does not always work.

Deleting ones account was also pretty complicated.

I don't know if they do it on purpose or if they just have people make up stuff just to have people make up stuff.

You risk them deleting your additional accounts, if they find out that you have made multiple accounts, even with different emails. Seem from a business perspective, it would be way too risky to create an account like that to run your business account, because you risk it being banned. and we all know how well Facebook support works, in order to resolve conflicts like these

It doesn't change the fact that you are breaking their rules.
You can also go 200 miles an hour on the interstate if you want and boast that you can do it based on personal experience. You won't come back to tell people of the consequences though

cosmicrookie OP ,
@cosmicrookie@lemmy.world avatar

Business accounts are actually called pages. They are created inside their platform by personal accounts. A user can create multiple pages about anything really

cosmicrookie OP ,
@cosmicrookie@lemmy.world avatar

I wonder if EU could force them to allow for un-tracked non personal accounts for work..

Are you AI?

The difference is that people from the US and UK are generally welcommed in other countries. People from Sudan have a much harder time being let into other countries

cosmicrookie ,
@cosmicrookie@lemmy.world avatar

LOL

1- Its correct that its not easy to get a residence permit, but it is a lot easier if you are entering from the US/UK than if you are coming from Sudan.

2- I don't expect people leaving the US, to want to live like they did in the US. So assuming that they would want to create a similar life outside the US is kind of childish, and not even possible in most countries.

That said, it's a figure of speech. You're taking it too far and too literal

They are just trying to squeeze the last few drops out of it. Its the endgame now. The new yahoo!

    I thought it was a title to an article but it turn out it was someone who mistook Lemmy for a search engine

    cosmicrookie ,
    @cosmicrookie@lemmy.world avatar

    Its amazing that a company in the US can simply demand that if you use their services you have to agree not to sue them. Its one of the only reasons anyone could or would sue them!

    cosmicrookie ,
    @cosmicrookie@lemmy.world avatar

    Id assume one could have them do that if they lived in EU

    cosmicrookie ,
    @cosmicrookie@lemmy.world avatar

    wow! and they think people don't want to work!

    When did YouTube rambles become essays? I've seen this a few times now. Dont call them essays! Its just people talking endlessly about things they often know very little about but make it sound convincing.

    Its like AI really!

    IMO YouTubers are great at spending hours explaining something that should and could have taken 10 minutes

    cosmicrookie ,
    @cosmicrookie@lemmy.world avatar

    I do appreciate some 10-15 minute videos on a subject and I'd agree that they often are well planned and structured.
    Many of the hour long videos though, I feel could have been 10 minute videos that the creator has put effort into making longer mainly in order to make the video longer (I don't even know if there is more money in longer videos, or its just a way of showing more ads maybe?)

    cosmicrookie ,
    @cosmicrookie@lemmy.world avatar

    IMO many of the longer videos, could have been way shorter, but are made longer just to make them longer

    cosmicrookie ,
    @cosmicrookie@lemmy.world avatar

    I dont but i expect its ok to express my opinion about them nonetheless

    cosmicrookie ,
    @cosmicrookie@lemmy.world avatar

    Only because its like the top 8 google results for mostly everything i search!

    cosmicrookie ,
    @cosmicrookie@lemmy.world avatar

    That's what you get when Instead of Google getting better at indexing sites, the sites got better at being indexed

    cosmicrookie ,
    @cosmicrookie@lemmy.world avatar

    That's the wrong Dutch

    I left it back in November when they forced me to either pay or accept. That said, we need a replacement for facebook, that is made for the EU and by the EU. Sure fediverse is great, but it still is a niche social media for us nerds.

    We need the Facebook styled feed that 60+ year olds feel comfortable scrolling through, instead of the Reddit wannabe format

    Actually more like a self fulfilling prophesy

    IMO many will leave Linux just before finding the fix!

    I had tried dual boot but kept going back to windows because i knew how to do things there without having to mess with anything

    Its only after i removed windows altogether and only ran Mint, that i was forced to seriously look for solutions. Once you do find them though, you dont need to mess around with anything that much any more

    cosmicrookie ,
    @cosmicrookie@lemmy.world avatar

    Too bad that i left its platforms due to it.

    That said, i dont expect this to be their last exploit of user rights.

    Its actually fairly fast reaction from EU considering they ok introduced their pay or ok model in November.

    I dont believe that paying really was a viable option anyway, as they set the price so high but it could be interesting to see how many actually chose to pay!

    cosmicrookie ,
    @cosmicrookie@lemmy.world avatar

    It had value to me too. I lost a lot of my online social life due to it. I honestly also considered paying but not the ridiculously high price that they were asking. Further more, paying would not stop them from tracking me and it would still have them show me recommended content. Its only the actual ads that you get rid of, but you'd still be seeing recommended commercial content from pages that META thinks suit your purchasing pattern.

    cosmicrookie ,
    @cosmicrookie@lemmy.world avatar

    If more casual PC users got on to it, i wouldn't call it a daily experience. Yeah you need to use it some times but once everyone is set, you dont really need to mess with it

    I switched to Mint a few months ago and to be fair I have only messed with it a couple of times mainly just after the initial installation

    cosmicrookie ,
    @cosmicrookie@lemmy.world avatar

    That's what we call a conspiracy theory

    cosmicrookie ,
    @cosmicrookie@lemmy.world avatar

    No i believe that they are actively protect and promote their systems.

    But the likelihood of them coordinating a meme based offensive against the, is it 4% now? of Linux users is very small compared to the likelihood of a self aware Linux user.

    I am sure that you could turn this into me being hired by Microsoft to defend their agenda but in the end, the most plaussible explanation is usually the true one

    cosmicrookie ,
    @cosmicrookie@lemmy.world avatar

    I won't even try to convince you of the opposite or that i'm human. I even occasionally fail capcha tests so who knows!?

    cosmicrookie ,
    @cosmicrookie@lemmy.world avatar

    I work 24hr shifts!

    That said, i only work 6 shifts a month. I also get to sleep while still getting paid!

    cosmicrookie , (edited )
    @cosmicrookie@lemmy.world avatar

    Actually i help a young person with a dissabillty. So work can often be a visit to the theater, board game night every week and occasional concerts (Ramstein this summer 🤘)

    The pay is not at max. I could make more but would have to offer a lot more of my free time and do work that id hate doing.

    That said, there is also some stuff that one has to get used to, but I guess it could be a lot worse

    cosmicrookie ,
    @cosmicrookie@lemmy.world avatar

    Communists are turning everything gay...
    Sure!

    cosmicrookie ,
    @cosmicrookie@lemmy.world avatar

    Jetpack
    It made 5 mil last year for making wordpress better for the ones who are willing to pay

    cosmicrookie ,
    @cosmicrookie@lemmy.world avatar

    WTH... ill just buy two six pack instead of just 2 beers. I'm paying with my phone anyway.

    cosmicrookie ,
    @cosmicrookie@lemmy.world avatar

    Still almost 5 times higher (even though pretty cheap!)

    cosmicrookie ,
    @cosmicrookie@lemmy.world avatar

    It only means that the prices are adjusted to get the most out of what people have, not that it costs what its worth

    cosmicrookie ,
    @cosmicrookie@lemmy.world avatar

    Yes, compared to income, but it only proves that prices are adjusted to milk consumers of as much as they can, and not to just cover expenses and make a reasonable profit.

    cosmicrookie ,
    @cosmicrookie@lemmy.world avatar

    Well, IMO ads are ads. Targeted ads are not better just because they are relevant or can be ignored
