Ok so let's entertain the opposite of patriotism and talk about self distane what is going to drive you to fix the crumbling rotting foundation or leaky roof because who cares if this crummy house rots and collapses on me if you don't care about your county then you won't have the drive to maintain it sure some might but those people who don't need motivation to do things are rare and far between if the world is hopeless then what hope is there of fixing it

Trying to buy right size bicycle wheel online

Needed a replacement 700C front wheel for my commuter bike after the old aluminum rim exploded like a looney tunes cannon. It's hard enough to find the right size when there are 3 competing tire/rim sizing systems currently in use, it doesn't help when the people selling the wheels have no idea what the numbers mean either! All...

I've experienced this sort of thing with my car. it's a old 50s car that had a engine swap and a few mods before I got it. so one one hand everything is universal but on the other hand I don't know what is stock. I only know what sizes are currently under the hood. which wouldn't be a problem if the guys at AutoZone or O'Reilly's knew what the different sizes ment.
Before I finally figured out what car my engine came from. id just measure the part I need. come in and tell them the part I need, and they would just sit confused until they just asked me what car is this part going into. sometimes the part happens to be stock bel air size, but sometimes they weren't and the guy would have to bring the used part to the back. until they found something the right size.
Hell even when I ordered online id have to wonder if I'm going to be fighting the "guarantee to fit your car thing." because I don't know if stock will work.
Here at least you can navigate if you managed to find a conversation calculator. My measurement standards don't matter no matter what unit I use.

On one hand I can see your gas tank analogy being correct but I may be saying this out of habit of how we have been disarming disinformation that originates from random sources the whole time we have had social media but disarming disinformation that is backed and distributed by a authoritarian regimes that have a military force and possibly assassins and other means to physically shut people up it's a bit harder especially when you're going against them on a platform that they control and own

Instagram Advertises Nonconsensual AI Nude Apps (www.404media.co)

Instagram is profiting from several ads that invite people to create nonconsensual nude images with AI image generation apps, once again showing that some of the most harmful applications of AI tools are not hidden on the dark corners of the internet, but are actively promoted to users by social media companies unable or...

Man I have the exact opposite problem I'm always wearing long pants in even the hottest of days because I'm constantly doing physical labor wether it be firewood collecting or shoveling gravel I'm always having shit scraping my legs so I always want some protection also my job has me outside all day long so when winter comes around I'm wearing my pants for the cold it's a part of my company dress code ultimately I've grown accustomed to work clothes to the point that comfort wear like slippers hoodies and shorts are pretty weird and uncomfortable for me for those reasons I just don't own many shorts because I rarely use them ever

Tbh I don't get wearing band tees that you're not into especially when you find yourself in this situation enough times to have this reaction and make a comic about this exact situation. Tee shirts are cheap nowadays so why can't you just wear something different. I could understand if it's a hammy down or something you didn't pick but if you have the power to wear something your actually interested in why not do that. Or even just get a coat.

How is labeling fault points fault points victim blaming you do realize when people talk about how something fails they typically use the term fault points to refer points where something was faulty like a worn tire being the reason a car crashed

Seriously when will they finally cut the filler and make that bomb that they have been teasing.

I'm in a similar spot. I love everything about old 50s era cars but the milage. I love how nice they look. I love how fun they are to work on. I love the cooshiy bench seats. I love the feel of how all the switches and nobs cuthunk all the time. Really I just want a modern engine and transmission to make my bel air a practical car in me modern day. Hell considering how fast I drive I'd be down to engine swapping it with a Prius or something like that. I've heard that Corvettes are ridiculously fual efficient despite being a sport car so I should really get around to seeing if thad make my car fast and practical.

Another thing to note is ease of repair. My folks have been using my dad's 65 CJ5 jeep and a 04 John Deere tractor. Can't remember the exactly the model off the top of my head but they are both used as work wood haulers. The jeep has broken down a few times but it doesn't take longer than a afternoon to make repairs but the tractor has only broken down less because we don't use it as often because it always takes a week to fix the things that go wrong. We also have a 15 F150 to haul wood and stuff but because it's new and we got it in really nice condition so we try to baby it as much as we can when loading up fire wood into the bed. My 56 bel air is surprisingly straight up reliable I've never had to work on it as often as our modern cars but yet again we use it less and baby it when we can.

I know I'm kinda odd here because I've been accustomed to work boots as daily shoes. Partly because I live in a place where everywhere is muddy wet and covered in manure. Even then i don't understand how people find sneakers comfortable. They are ridiculously tight you feel like you're walking on carpet all the time and you have to make sure your only stepping on the dryest cleanest perfect ground you can find. The lack of durability just makes me question even further why bother.

Do you like get offended when a WW2 movie has Nazis in it. I'm not even saying your wrong I'm just wondering why you find disgusting acts being the butt of a joke a bad thing.

creditCrazy ,
@creditCrazy@lemmy.world avatar

Yea the comments here just confuse me. Like one why are people taking this seriously, and two ain't the guy your offended at the butt of the joke. It's like when Cristians got offended by doom promoting demon worship dispute the game being entirely about beating and killing demons.

Eh depends often I jerk it on the toilet so I don't have to clean up at all. And if I feel particularly lazy I can just nut in my foreskin and walk to a toilet and release it into the bowl.

I'm curious how accurate this is considering there's rarely ever air in your stomach so what is the point when it's effectively vacuum sealed.

Eye I have two really nice cars and I only ever take them out on tracks or going around the county side. Otherwise I to am taking the bike everywhere. Even if it means going through a hard ass mountain range. I honestly get it. Cars are expensive and if the only place you get to drive it on are highways and cities yea cars are pretty boring and frustrating. You really need a good mountain range or track to appreciate cars, and sadly those are becoming rarer and rarer for people and especially young folks. So thanks car sentric infrastructure for making cars boring and infuriating.
