Just did it myself on Linux Mint:

You want SteamTinkerLaunch, which the Git page mentions there's another program I can't recall the name of right now (proton something) you can use to install it.

If you're on a Debian based OS the version of YAD you can get is laughably out of date (0.4 vs the minimum 7.0) so you'll have to compile that yourself but that's ezpz

With STL enabled and set as your comparability tool launch it and install MO2 and mod away to your heart's content

I used Vortex instead because I hate everyone else and like watching them cringe when I say that. 0 issues.

Oh, proton will need to be ABOVE 8.5c to work with certain mods. 9.0 works great ime

Funny enough it's also one of the few places Windows was kicking Linux's ass on a feature

Finding a passable replacement for the snip tool was probably the biggest issue I had moving to Linux unironically, tookultiple tries of many tools, a lot of config, and it still takes an extra click over Snip

I use it all day at work and then get home and miss it when I wanna clip funny shit in my games, then remember it's a different keybind with an enter keypress

It's 95% there but it's incredibly annoying to have to hit enter or space to confirm my screenshot area every time when I'm used to it just getting that from release of the mouse button

Dug around the settings and even googled it and it doesn't seem there's a way to make it do that, so it's just shy of snip

No, but it's what other people have paid for. Usually at the end of a video past it's actual content, in what's considered the "credits", people who helped pay are tradiditionaly part of that.

Posted asking if we could create a thread for fan art of characters cuz they did fan art

Did so, that seemed neat

Immediately flooded the channel with their OC since BDSM IRL content and asked if we liked it

Funny enough I've had more issues with AMD drivers on my Windows machines than I ever have with nVidia on my Linux installs

Literally just changed to a different version by menu with nVidia a week ago when a text bug came up. Only issue on 2 different Linux installs with nVidia over the years.

Compared to ~8 years ago when I had to HUNT DOWN a veeeery specific driver version or my AMD GPU was like "lol idk how to be a GPU" on Win8 (or we're we using 20 by then I can't be assed to Google it), and even then it whined constantly and did weird shit

Of course AMD is fine now, wife's GPU installed no issue and it's from the same manufacturer, but still funny to me

Literally why my father in law and I have some serious issues

It took years for him to realize I'm not a lazy person who doesn't apply themselves (I am, just not at work), I just refuse to completely abandon my family for financial gain like he did. That royally pissed him off for nearly a decade, but now that he's getting near retirement age he has begun to see my side as having a really good point.

Sure he did it so that his kids could have a good life and inherit enough money to never work once he dies, but the trade-off of the damaged relationships is, to me, not worth it. Especially when the world when I was the age he did that no longer rewarded such behaviour. My favorite example being that I actually did work extra hard for a company, his, and got fired for it. Shuts him up pretty fucking quick at least

Me last night after extolling the virtues of the OS to my wife, trying to figure out why upping my refresh rate results in completely fucked text in Linux Mint

So far I've gathered that it's probably a similar issue to what half-rate shading does on the Steam Deck, but the fix or why it's even doing it in the first place currently eludes me

E: if anyone else has a similar issue and is on an nVidia card: try the most recent driver, not the recommended one. If that doesn't work, maybe the older one then? If still not god help you cuz the first idea worked for me

My favorite is pre-authorization.

I need a pre-auth before my insurance will cover the Adderall for my ADHD. Every year I must renew this pre-auth or I will not get covered for my prescription.

What is a pre-auth, exactly? It's a Dr. Promising that yes, this medicine they prescribed is medically necessary. No, prescription alone does not count. Yes, it can come from the same Dr. who prescribed it.

And yes, I have to do it yearly to "ensure it's still medically necessary" because my ADHD could magically go away one day, apparently

You can make them quieter or even silent these days with the "signal cycle" or similar setting, a legitimate thing I want to do but mine don't tell me when they're done so I leave them loud.

what's the big advanta of knowing exactly when the cycle finishes?

Even when on my Adderall I forget I set it all the time and wind up with smelly wet clothes too often. Also would be nice to get an alert if my wife set it without telling me, then I can easily swap it out if I'm not doing anything and she is.

It's not to stop you from abusing their systems but to stop scam victims from being screwed

One easy example is that you can get around the "no screenshots" lock many bank apps use with root, allowing you to potentially expose security vital information to people.

Should those of us who know what we're doing be allowed? Maybe.

But it's there to protect the old people who will run the .exe that's designed to root their phone and then let them hand over data that would otherwise be locked down so that doesn't happen just because someone called them and said they're from the bank.

never understood the "promote laziness" thing. A union wouldn't be able to protect a worker that can't meet the requirements of the job.

Overachievers get told to stop being better than the lower-quality workers in poorly run unions because "it makes Bob look and feel bad when you do twice the work he can in a day"

It's not a great reason but if you experience it once it leaves one hell of a sour taste in your mouth, especially since poorly run unions also usually aren't doing good at protecting workers

Yes, other distros can be great and all that jazz, but Mint makes a strong first toe dip for those who are less confident in tech

Shit, I'm confident and I actually preferred my mint install over the other couple of distros I tried partly because it came mostly pre done and only my server gets my IT time these days

Every goddamn time I try to use GIMP I end up making a series of stupid minor errors because it uses non-standard keybosrd shortcuts (why is the default DESELECT hotkey not CTRL+D like in every other program with selection tools) or some other esoteric decision of hiding something in 3 menus or calling a tool by a different name to everyone else, then end up re-pirating Photoshop, not needing either for a while, deleting Photoshop cuz "well I'll learn GIMP eventually", repeat

I live in California, if I chose to not vote I'm making a conscious choice to support Biden, as that is who my states electoral votes are going to. I value privacy and am conscious of it, more so than the average user. I choose, willingly and knowingly, to use certain services that damage my privacy in exchange for their services.
