Pros and cons of Proxmox in a home lab?

Hi all. I was curious about some of the pros and cons of using Proxmox in a home lab set up. It seems like in most home lab setups it’s overkill. But I feel like there may be something I’m missing. Let’s say I run my home lab on two or three different SBCs. Main server is an x86 i5 machine with 16gigs memory and the others...

Ah yes I did the same thing as you as I checked again but from my PC.

I just paid myself the 110 after using it for 2 years. It's not for the popup since I was using a script to remove it. It's more to get the production ready updates. My server has too many important things now, I don't want less tested changes. That and to support the devs.

I'm sad I didn't see any comments saying he shouldn't be using a $40k wallet key to test his software in the first place. Anything could happen with simple code mistakes...just get an empty wallet or one with a few bucks in it.

They have an official workaround(which is just a stupid complicated way but that's still working). The one from OP is just a custom workaround some random found. Others pointed to the actual workaround in the comments.

Ive started using podman too but I am not comfortable with it yet.
So just an idea, could you use a higher port number on the pod then use iptable to redirect from port 53 to the new port #?

I didn't know it sucked on the iPhone, I haven't had problems on Android, I actually quite like it. I would only change to get away from Microsoft

My tangible servers and clients have people's names

My system components VMs have mythology names.

My non prod VMs have identifiable names like routeros, debiangui etc.

Fun stuff are my smart vacuums, I give them old women names from different countries. My very first one was Consuela, thinking of Family Guy.

Should I learn Docker or Podman?

Hi, I've been thinking for a few days whether I should learn Docker or Podman. I know that Podman is more FOSS and I like it more in theory, but maybe it's better to start with docker, for which there is a lot more tutorials. On the other hand, maybe it's better to straight up learn podman when I don't know any of the two and...

Then just go for Docker. Otherwise you may make it unnecessarily difficult for yourself and get discouraged.
In a few years you may revisit the question and see if you still have an interest in podman.
