maness300 ,

I recommend setting up logging in yourself so you can see why you're wrong.

maness300 ,

So... twitch.tv is actually twitch...Tuvalu???

maness300 ,

Wait till you find out how much energy banking uses...

maness300 ,

It's a drop in the ocean compared to how much energy the banking industry uses.

maness300 ,

the banking industry

Might want to brush up on that reading comprehension.

maness300 ,

Does this mean Mastodon users will be able to interact with Bluesky users?

How Quora Died (slate.com)

“Why Do So Many Music Venues Use Ticketmaster?” “What’s It Like to Train to Be a Sushi Chef?” “How Do Martial Artists Break Concrete Blocks?” If you were looking for answers to such questions 10 years ago, your best resource for finding a thorough, expert-informed response likely would have been one of the most...

maness300 ,

I think it's so fucking stupid how it it always defaults to "similar questions" instead of just showing us the actual answers.

Just another example of throwing as much shit at an audience to drive up "engagement."

maness300 ,

Oh that's so fucking annoying, but I also think it's part of the culture among those who typically submit recipes online.

Any suggestions for overcoming addiction to capitalist big tech social media and streaming etc?

I've tried getting into peertube to have something to watch. I'm exploring copyleft music on open audio / funkwhale. I'm on here in lemmy as of this week. I'm playing with mastodon and the fediverse. I've tried studying psychology and psychology-adjacent territory like Deleuze and Guattari and Foucault and Derrida so I can break...

maness300 ,

Focus on older stuff and recognize that most people are just trying to fit in with other losers.

maness300 ,

Eh, it's more the dumbing-down of America starting to take effect.

It's always funny seeing you people comment almost instinctively on anything that's positive about china.

maness300 ,

I feel bad for everyone who takes your word at face value.

Anyone can type anything on the internet. Just keep that in mind, folks.

maness300 ,

In my experience, Chinese products are way better and more affordable than American ones.

Buying American is just a scam to fool people with more money than sense.

Mark Twain was right.

maness300 ,

I was specifically thinking about products I got on Amazon.

Headphones, especially. It really cemented in my mind that most "audiophiles" are just idiots with more money than sense trying to fit in with the same.

maness300 ,

Umm... your nationality has nothing to do with it.

You should pay more attention in English class.

maness300 ,

He doesn't understand the words he's using or other people's arguments.

Apparently he's French and didn't pay attention in English class.

maness300 ,

Lol, found the guy who believes everything he reads on the internet.

maness300 ,

That's fine.

Spend your money how you want.

maness300 ,

You're not alone.

maness300 ,

Uhh, no.

maness300 ,

That's really fucking cool, if you ask me.

maness300 ,

rely on code that’s still written in COBOL.

Does this really matter? It's more of a maintenance issue than a functional one.

It all gets compiled down to binary, anyways.

maness300 ,

What exactly is the issue? Everything mentioned is true.

It even goes further when you consider how newer technology often incorporates more technology, which means a greater attack surface.

Tell me you know nothing about cybersecurity without telling me you know nothing about cybersecurity.

Oh, the ironing. Sad how you have >100 upvotes.

maness300 ,

Wow. Imagine paying $1.4mil to find 49 zero days instead of hiring an actual security team.

The people who did this are fucking idiots.

maness300 ,

It's an argument of centralization vs. decentralization and there are pros and cons to each approach.

Biden Expected to Announce Billions in Chip Subsidies, WSJ Says (www.bloomberg.com)

Biden Expected to Announce Billions in Chip Subsidies, WSJ Says::The Biden administration is expected to soon announce billions of dollars in new subsidies to chipmakers including Intel Corp. and Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing as part efforts to reshore production, the Wall Street Journal reported.

maness300 ,

Eh. I think it's a lesson children need to learn eventually.

People with more money than sense are insecure about their lack of understanding.

maness300 ,

Seriously.

White House calls for legislation after ‘alarming’ proliferation of Taylor Swift deepfakes — Social media networks also need to do more to prevent the spread of the images, said press secretary Kar... (www.bloomberg.com)

maness300 ,

The fuck? Why is it a problem just because of taytay?

maness300 ,

Nations are fiefdoms.

It's not because she's famous, it's because she's rich.

maness300 ,

Ahh, so things only get done when you can convince twitter idiots to get up in arms.

maness300 ,

So it's okay to do as long as it's difficult?

maness300 ,

Yeah, normies went from IE straight to Chrome.

They'll never admit when they were wrong.

maness300 ,

Great point.

This is why Americans have no consumer protections; they're the ones fucking everyone.

maness300 ,

My rationale is this: apple users love spending money, so they can go ahead and spend it.

Fuck'em.

maness300 ,

Apples view

So, these companies will throw whatever shit at a wall to see what sticks.

Their "view" is constantly probing how low people's standards are so they can do the least while charging the most.

It's called "maximizing profit."

maness300 ,

The convenience of... texting?

Lol. Sometimes I feel you ppl just regurgitate what you've seen before without realizing it.

maness300 ,

Some people LOVE wrestling.

maness300 ,

Lol, I like the way you think.

maness300 ,

Fun fact: wrestling started off as a show before it became a sport.

maness300 ,

I mean, you're trying to shit on an entire form of art and diminish people's enjoyment of it.

There are countless threads on the internet tearing down wrestling and those who like it. Very few actually have responses like the one you're replying to.

maness300 ,

Protip: Just use free streaming services like fmovies.

maness300 ,

primarily made for people who take daily shits on art being for pussies or pansies or worthless

Okay... have you ever heard of being the bigger person? And this in no way applies to everyone or even the majority of people who enjoy wrestling.

You sound like a grandpa trying to explain to teenagers why rap isn't music.

maness300 ,

I totally agree.

Copyright and patent laws need to die.

maness300 ,

Supplying energy isn't only doing what's "cost effective." It's about meeting demand.

This is why when suppliers have difficulty meeting demand, prices go up.

If we only did what was the cheapest instead of what was required to meet demand, then our demands wouldn't be met and we would be without energy during those times.
