“Additionally, without a stay, the Rule will work immense irreparable harm on the Airlines.”

Good. Make them suffer.

nick ,

This is accurate. Best part of working from home is I can lay on my floor for ten minutes at a time when I get overstimulated

nick ,

Yeah works for me, I barely ever check it anyway. I’m not even sure why I still have an accounts I don’t use any other facebook apps.

The ugly truth behind ChatGPT: AI is guzzling resources at planet-eating rates (www.theguardian.com)

Despite its name, the infrastructure used by the “cloud” accounts for more global greenhouse emissions than commercial flights. In 2018, for instance, the 5bn YouTube hits for the viral song Despacito used the same amount of energy it would take to heat 40,000 US homes annually....

nick ,

Now, where to download these, for science.

nick ,

“For good” someone might need to learn what that means. Google is going to axe this I’m sure.

nick ,

I’d like to see them try stopping me giving my kids my password.

nick ,

Be cooler if she killed two cops tbh

When ‘Lol, No’ Is Not Enough: Lawyer Explains Why Bogus Takedown Over ‘Fuck The LAPD’ Shirt Should Result In Paying Legal Fees (www.techdirt.com)

You may recall last month’s hilarious story of lawyer Mike Dunforth’s response to a vexatious angry demand letter from IMG, representing the LAPD Foundation, claiming that a t-shirt with the following “Fuck the LAPD” logo violated its IP rights:

nick ,

Generally not big on lawyers, but this guy I can get behind.

nick ,

As a customer of google cloud, this is wholly unsurprising. They have proven themselves time and again to be incompetent but I can’t convince my boss to let us build a data center.

nick ,

As someone who has worked in fast food, warehouses, and woodworking: I know how privileged I am to be a software developer.

Ive seen kids right out of college get hired and make more than I did, despite my having 20+ more years of experience … just because I’m self taught with no college. And then they bitch about how bad the job is.

Insane.

nick ,

Read the comment. It was literally a personal attack.

nick ,

Fuuuuuuck systemd. I won’t be taking notes, don’t bother systemd bots.

nick ,

Bro I’m with you on this but the systemd bots will just keep arguing with and downvoting you. Don’t bother.

nick ,

This is why I always power off my phone when in line for the tsa or when im pulled over. They can’t force me to enter my password. Yet.

nick ,

I finally figured out calibre and dedrm. Spent a weekend downloading each Amazon ebook purchase, one by one, and stripping out the drm. Now I have 500 sone epubs in my library that I can use some books or a kobo to read.

nick ,

Shockingly it was a clear beautiful day in Akron Ohio. I’m shocked, tbh.

nick ,

I like that this exists. Wsl is good.

nick ,

Here’s a tip for landlords: try to keep your heads attached when the revolution finally comes.

nick ,

What’s the context here, did someone break down?

If so, awesome.

Who’s Behind All the ‘Pussy in Bio’ on X? (nymag.com)

Spam is hard. No real platform has solved it completely, and none ever will. Spammers evolve, platforms catch up, spammers evolve again, and so on until the last post is posted and the last user signs out. Individual spam tactics, however, do tend to have short lives, and while PIB won’t be with us forever, it’s notable...

nick ,

“If our twitter bid succeeds, we will defeat the spam bots or die trying,” wrote Elon Musk in May 2022

Option two anytime now plz

nick ,

Ants as a distributed computer capable of running… “ai” let’s call it… was pretty brilliant, if somewhat far fetched.

Definitely a novel concept!

Google Allows Creditors to Brick Your Phone (lemmy.world)

I installed NetGuard about a month ago and blocked all internet to apps, unless they're on a whitelist. No notifications from this particular system app (that can't be disabled) until recently when it started making internet connection requests to google servers. Does anyone know when this became a thing?...

nick ,

Hell, I’m installing that now. It’s gonna be my terminal and sublime font now

nick ,

Seconded this. Been paying for a long time now, no regrets.

nick ,

Good news for the seven people who use tidal!

nick ,

Placing a billion conveyor belts, strip mining a planet with no regard to the pollution I caused, and full scale genocide against the native bugs who already lived there.

Sorry, biters, I gotta launch my rocket.

nick ,

lol it takes time to get the hang of it. I’m 2500 hours in and have the method down finally.

Also make use of blueprints! It makes things easier

nick ,

Wayyyyyyyyy easier with blueprints. I still can’t quite figure out train signals so I let blueprints handle it for me.

This run I’m going robots/main bus, but the logistics train network is pretty fun too, for huge scale. Could start doing trains around the time you start red belts, I bet.

nick ,

Factorio, but satisfactory is also good!

nick ,

“Train our ai for us in order to login”

Get fucked.

nick ,

Not all AI is ChatGPT.

nick ,

Jesus Christ it’s a ghost, did anyone else see that? Call Peter Venkman!!!
