I'm not much of a metal head anymore but it was the first genre I was really into when I started developing my own taste in music.

They're not really for me but they're definitely still one of the biggest bands in the world with millions of fans and I'm not gonna tell all those people they don't have any taste in music you know? To each their own.

Also the other user seems to be in the UK which I believe already has stronger worker protections and better access to healthcare than the US; two major things a union in America would push for.

I just listened to the BtB: How Conservatism Won today. He breaks it all down and shows us how we got to where we are. Laid out in a nice chronological, easy to digest order connecting dot to dot; it's very enlightening.

I highly recommend it to everyone interested in what's happening in America right now. Robert Evans is a gem, the definition of an actual journalist, and the kind of people The Left in America needs.

It's so weird to see it framed as an either/or. Voting is the absolute bare minimum you can do to participate. So yeah go vote, and also organize your friends and network with like minded people around you and work towards the change you want. I doubt any of the ideologically pure abstainers here have even ever turned out to vote much less actually worked on a campaign.

Well, not "communist" capital C, but certainly socialist, or at least with socialist leanings.

For example private land ownership isn't really a thing in China, making essentially all natural resources defacto state-owned. It's actually a really interesting idea IMO.

My (fairly religious) aunt introduced me to latkes when I was a kid and it became a lifelong love affair.

She was (is) a great cook, they were always light and fluffy. Usually we'd have them with applesauce but sometimes she'd make them with a lot of onion and we'd eat them with ketchup.

In my defense, I was a child. I'm not even sure where she came across them, we're not Jewish (we were Baptists, from the midwest).

It's crazy, any time I open it up I see blatantly obvious rightwing trolls or even gore. My feed pre-Elon didn't look like that, I mostly followed infosec people but they've all gone elsewhere and now it seems I'm being served content that baits me into arguing or converts me.

I recently got a fresh Hulu acct and it's funny watching them try to figure out what I "am" while they just cycle through the dating app ads.

One commercial will be a christian dating app, the next will be a black dating app, the next will be a latino dating app, the next a farmers dating app. It's hilarious and I'm not exaggerating at all. I'm sure if I started interacting with anything they'd start narrowing my demographics down but for now the algorithm seems to be trying a shotgun approach and it's a little bit amusing.

$52k before taxes, about $41k after. It's an ok wage a lot of places but I defniitely wouldn't call it a "life of luxury" anywhere in the U.S. and I'm from one of the LCOL places in the U.S., the midwest.

You definitely won't starve but you're also not going to retire early.

$50k is still very much working class. Yeah you own a car but it's a 7yr old Nissan sedan, nothing luxurious about it. At $50k you're not missing that many paychecks before it becomes a very real issue I promise.
