Jup. It just says that "the malware was disguised as PDF and QR code readers".

Not helpful, Mashable. Not helpful at all.

original_reader ,

It's still one of the best options for video calling. Available on all the major platforms, no time limits, the quality is great. International call rates are some of the cheapest out there.

Big downside though: it's not so great on the privacy side.

original_reader ,

Why judge people over their choice of beverage?

Why can't we all drink (or eat or be...) whatever we please without derogatory comments being made? What kind of a low is that?

Seriously.

original_reader ,

You are right on all counts.

Just not sure if "easy" is the operative word here.

original_reader ,

Actually, yes.

Infinite diversity in infinite combinations.

And what is diversity but a celebration of differences?

As always, please ensure you stop your Jellyfin server and take a full backup before upgrading!

Now, if only there was a simple, built-in way to backup/export and restore/import all settings and other data, so that all platforms could do this easily, without having to search the internet for which folders to back up...

FYI, this is the best we have atm (which is pretty terrible). Please correct me if there is a better way:

How to backup a JF instance?

Jellyfin Docs: Migrating

original_reader ,

This has been discussed before and you might be right.

Jellyfin Forum

Github

Python Backup Script (Good luck if you're not a developer)

... and so forth. No good answers so far.

original_reader ,

Sure. But what if Docker is not available on a machine? What if the import should happen on a Linux machine coming from Windows? What if I want to sync two installations on different OSs?

I know it's all doable, but not easy, let alone foolproof. It's so easy to install, but genuinely not easy to keep safe without tech knowledge.

original_reader ,

Is there somewhere a guide in how to get started with gaming on Linux?

original_reader ,

What of Indie games that I download from the developer's page or other stores?

Also, how is the update process of Mint these days for make versions? Is it a complete reinstall of the system? I might opt for a rolling distro for that purpose.

original_reader ,

I read that a lot. Somehow I'm not into adding all my games into the Steam client, though I am not totally opposed if there's no other option. That's due to my inherent trust issues with gaming platforms.

Might give Lutris a shot.

Whatever happened to PlayOnLinux?

original_reader ,

SC2?

original_reader ,

It's almost as if companies have gone a bit overboard with advertising. Huh. Didn't see that coming...

original_reader ,

The worst thing is when there's no socket for my phone charger on the side of the bed where I sleep.

Nothing compares to that level of misery!

original_reader , (edited )

Does this apply to Europe too?

Has this been cracked, meaning people using these features bypassing the paywall?

original_reader ,

Thanks.

That leaves the remaining question. Is there a cracker scene oh the automobile market?

original_reader ,

At least there is one. Many apps don't offer that at all but make us go through hundreds of options and turn them off manually.

Until an update makes you do it again.

And again.

The worst. Usually an uninstall for me.

original_reader ,

I have. Happily using Thunderbird now.

original_reader ,

TBF, that's actually a pretty profound insight.

Most, if not all, of us take certain concepts for granted until someone points out that it's more complex than we realise. Examples like Dark Energy & Matter, entropy, the placebo effect, the nature of mathematical objects, etc. are proof of this.

A RULE SPY'S IN THE BASE?! (lemmy.blahaj.zone)

I searched up "Lemmy" on the PlayStore and noticed that Reddit appears right before the last lemmy client in that search X3 do u guys know if there r any other lemmy clients worth trying? I randomly felt like trying all I could find and for now I'll stay on Jerboa and the Web UI but I use Voyager too now, mainly for DMs...

original_reader ,

The Raccoon logo is awesome. 😎

Downloading now just because of that.

original_reader ,

This is my first post with Raccoon. Sleek little thing. 👽

Will testdrive it for a while.

original_reader , (edited )

No, feels quite snappy, although my phone isn't the most recent at all.

Somehow it doesn't keep me logged in, though. It is under active development, so I will see.

Really like the layout. Wish the threaded view were a bit clearer, maybe. Bit that's no big deal.

Is there a (Lemmy) community for that app?

There is a Lemmy community here:

I am partial to Neo Store. Got used to it and now I'm hooked.

original_reader ,

Sure.

I just wonder how often I will find a package that gives me a 2℅ gain. If it's all fair and square, it should be fairly common. If not, either the scales need recalibration or... (insert sinister music)... there is intent here and that is another way to maximise profits; 2% at a time.

original_reader , (edited )

Can't say I agree.

That said, this probably isn't true if someone is transitioning from Photoshop, which is probably the context of this discussion. I have seen people who start with Gimp without knowing Photoshop and they got into it fairly quick.

Using Gimp and expecting the same logic and structure as Photoshop will indeed lead to initial difficulties.

I don't want to get into a war here. Am sure there's things more complicated in Gimp than PS, but also vice versa.

Either way, I know a number of people who do stunning work with Gimp in little time.

original_reader ,

Ah, yes.

Sorry. I deleted my comment. Misread and thought this was about Gimp itself.

original_reader ,

Good for you.

Now what will the rest of the world do with this info?

original_reader ,

I'm just saying that the answer is centred on American politics. The definition of right is Republicans and left the Democrats doesn't apply anywhere else.

original_reader ,

Familiar only if you worked with it before.

Easy... fair enough.

Pretty... debatable.

Apple established itself as a luxury brand. So it gives customers this "prestige feeling". That's at least my take.

original_reader ,

Great news.

Hooked.

Thank you, kind stranger.

I read the whole article. I don't agree with the notation of the American Physical Society, but who am I to argue that? 😄

I started out thinking I knew how the order of operations worked and ended up with a broader view of the subject. Thank you for opening my mind a bit today. I will be more explicit in my notations from now on.

original_reader ,

Direct quote from the article:

the American Physical Society state in their Style and Notation Guide on page 21 that they do “multiplication before division”, but you must be careful to not take that out of context

original_reader ,

Again, only in the US.

Nevertheless, the right to remain silent is protected in many countries. Deciding whether to use it on the other hand, is not always easy.
