This is probably off the mark and i dont have any context, but on the first read it seemed to me that they thought you might have your own celebrations planned and didnt want to interfere.

On second read its weird because you agreed to their party while also just mentioning that fact on the side.

Yeah i think they will be glad if you sincerely ask them what they were trying to say and give them a chance to calmly explain themselves.
Im not saying you should always be forgiving, but as you said "texting" is often shit for communicating things like this.

I also personally wouldnt want someone to apologize to me, until they actually understand why i was hurt, because thats just not a sincere apology.
I hope they didnt mean anything by it but good luck either way ^^

Nah i think the solution is not, everybody spamming communities with their local politics that have no international value.

The solution is, to post things that matter to everyone in shared communities and to either not post the rest or create communities for those topics.

I think it just depends, for example its good to get attention to things like the abortion situation in the US, or the recent semi legalization of cannabis in Germany. These are things that either directly or indirectly affect lots of people outside of the respective country.

But yeah, its just impossible to "objectively" decide what is important / relevant to many people and whats not.

I think the idea is that their life on this island is more enjoyable than their previous life. So they decide they want to stay there after all.

Which honestly is understandable on an emotional level sometimes but realistically they would be dead after a few weeks from unclean water, wildlife, infection, illness, etc

Air quality i assume, i started leaving it open after getting a CO2 meter in my room. Having a larger volume of air to pull from, massively reduces the CO2 level in your room. My morning level went from 2500+ ppm down to ~700ppm. If you have plants it probably helps a lot too.

Idk if thats what these "experts" are talking about but thats just my experience.

Use it as a server with built in backup battery for running P2P stuff.

I have a similar setup for using syncthing (P2P file synchronization) that allowed me to get rid of centralized cloud stuff.

Lots of options tho, you can run a non-exit tor node (thats the safe kind that wont attract cops to your door), torrenting stuff (be safe duh), etc

Just like 2-3 years ago, all of them used to look this bad. The image models have evolved insanely fast.

Not to ruin your fun, but in my opinion anything after the T400 series is no good. More and more components were designed to be non replaceable. Really it started with the end of the IBM era but they were still really good for a while after. Now i would always go for repair focused designs like framework, system76, etc

Yes there is a person running many (i think in the 100s) of accounts that are spamming every lemmy comment section recently.
They are making fun of George Floyd, just click on the username and look at some of their other comments. Its always the same shit.

Usually anti jokes are funny due to a lack of punchline, but this joke does actually have a functioning punchline and subversion of expectation. It just doesnt work as well if you dont get that the almond bit is about poison.
