Oh fk now thinking about it, me starting to use an Arch based distro and starting going to laser epilation pretty much happened at the same time period. Save me..
Nope. The anti-reddit stuff was downvoted and pro-reddit stuff upvoted. I dug back into my profile to find the most recent time it happened to me https://sh.itjust.works/comment/7640949.
Overall I don't find lemmy very anti-reddit at all. There were a bunch of anti-reddit subreddits of pretty large size that reddit basically shut down. All of them were way more anti-reddit than lemmy is. /r/watchredditdie and /r/declineintocensorship for example. I'm hoping to pull some of those people to lemmy by giving them a new home.
I had a look and those links point to a thread in !asklemmy, which is not !reddit nor !reddit!reddit. Both those communities are pretty much anti-Reddit.
Anyway, feel free to create another one, but be prepared for most of the people to just stick to those two, as they are well established and have large userbases
Yeah I didn't want to go digging that far back. I wouldn't say they're large. They have a few hundred subscribers while the /r/watchredditdie, etc. subs had more than a hundred thousand and were larger alone than the whole of lemmy.
Yes, there is a little colony of gnomes sitting inside the machine. They are the ones doing all the heavy calculations. The bitcoin boom burned out so many of them it's a total disaster. Currently you could consider them kind if endangered I guess.
So someone suggested to me that Linux is amazing for gaming.
I decided to split boot and installed Mint and attempted to play Forza Horizon 5. It literally runs like a potato. Also my Logitech steering wheel doesn't work and has major input lag.
Since you know so little about Linux, my question is what are you having for dinner?
I think my Nvidia mobile 3070ti card is being funky. I think I got it to run better after trying some ideas online, but there are lag spikes and the steering wheel still didn't work. Just deleted Mint and decided against Linux gaming for now
FWIW i played it on Linux launch week on a 3080, it actually crashed less than on my Windows install. But that’s fair there are a lot of variables that could cause issues.
I was getting Prime-run not found. I forgot what else I did, but finally got it working. The lag spikes made it a bit unplayable esp since this setup is for my dedicated racing simulator.
I to sometimes feel like I am cosplaying as a man too. I'm not trans, it's just about being an "adult" whatever that means. But I am just a mushy little whiny thing inside of a robust outer shell.
I'm afraid that's from before my time. I'm born in 1996 and didn't have internet before 2008. I think my first Linux install was Ubuntu 12.04 from a CD-ROM.
The Asynchronious Packaging Template simply collects shit from other people that were kind enough to make that shit for apt. The get part is recursive, it tries numerious times till it gets what it wants.
I had an 88 Chevy S-10 with the little Iron Duke 4. The rear glass was the headrest. It didn't have enough power to use 5th gear and maybe got 20mpgs. People look back on these trucks with rose tinted nostalgia but they werent that great.
The most likely reason, I suspect, is that "mainstream" sex toys were not made for lesbians until relatively recently. They were made for hetero women diagnosed with "hysteria" and, generally, by companies run by cis-het men.
So I've used huge stupid trucks for work a lot. Bush work. So shitty roads in the middle of nowhere, heavy loads.
Here is what I've learned:
The beds are undersized proportionate to their size, so it's pretty common to put canopies on them, which raises the center of gravity even further than it already is (which is pretty goddamn high). Rollovers are common, and loading the things is in itself hazardous. I've loaded a lot of shit in and out of these things, and had a bunch of close calls. It's a long way to fall, and you're more likely to fall than in a shorter vehicle.
The build quality is overall pretty bad, so the pillars are huge. Stupid large, which creates really big blindspots where there just don't need to be.
These trucks aren't really designed to go off road, so things like traction control tend to really get in the way. That whole system is built off of ABS (which doesn't work in situations where your traction is limited), and this will effectively kill your power when your tires start to spin. You have to override the default settings of these trucks to get them to work as advertised. It will make you stuck when you don't need to be.
The high hood is dumb. You have to look far ahead to maintain safety, because the blind spot in front of your truck is huge. Do you know what happens when you're on a steep climb around sharp corners? You straight up can't see. The only safe way to go is to get out of the truck and drive from memory. It's legit fucking stupid.
The blind spots in the rear of the truck is enormous. I've driven trucks with empty beds where I can see out the rear view mirror, and I've driven trucks with canopies that cover up the rear window. There's basically no difference in visibility.
