No, dev.to points to 151.101.194.217 which is an IPv4 that belongs to Fastly Inc

@loudWaterEnjoyer@lemmy.dbzer0.com avatar

Unfortunately he is not talking about security?

loudWaterEnjoyer ,
@loudWaterEnjoyer@lemmy.dbzer0.com avatar

So you mean Fastly is providing CDN servers which cache the content of dev.to and then serve them to the visitor on their servers?

Well yeah that's not self hosting.

loudWaterEnjoyer ,
@loudWaterEnjoyer@lemmy.dbzer0.com avatar

lol what the fuck is your problem? How about you do something and explain to me how you self host a CDN hosted by fastly?????

When did I resolve the Hostname to a DNS record? Are you fucking stupid you obviously don't know what you are talking about. I resolved it's domain to an IPv4 address which points entirely to a fastly server. It's not a resource that get's delivered by CDN, it's the whole fucking website they are serving, which is a service they sell and that's not self hosting.

God damn why am I even spending my time arguing with someone that didn't understand the basics yet. If you think a domain is a hostname and an IPv4 address is a DNS record, just back off and return to the books. You probably feel so cool and think you have done something, which you did, you ridiculed yourself.

Why can't you use FIDO2 hardware keys on a router? I have a PC running openBSD as a Router and I can use hardware keys.

loudWaterEnjoyer ,
@loudWaterEnjoyer@lemmy.dbzer0.com avatar

It's nothing fancy I just needed more CPU power on my router. I'm not saying it makes sense to use a hardware key to access the internet on router level, I'm just saying it works.

openBSD is actually kinda common base for routers. Also why would I hide a router in some inaccessible corner?

I use Debian Stable as my daily driver. No issues with steam. No issues with old packages, everything just works and is, I'm not sure why I'm shocked at this, kinda stable.

loudWaterEnjoyer ,
@loudWaterEnjoyer@lemmy.dbzer0.com avatar

Well yes, it's ugly as hell but fairly stable and not really overrated.

Why are we even comparing the terminal with registry? What is registry mimicking from Linux?

    That's because back then the Xbox controller was the only controller with good support on Windows. It was designed with the intention of being used with a Windows PC. Back then when you played a game with a different controller, it would still show you Xbox buttons. Even games like Dark Souls which are ported from the PlayStation.

    Writing symbols/characters on the button or coloring them doesn't really change the controller in its foundation because you can map the buttons in any way you like anyway. What separates gamepads from each other is the layout and amount and type of buttons you have. The type here is an input-type meaning analog/digital, trackpad whatever. I also wouldn't call the Steam Controller a Xbox or PlayStation controller, it's a unique gamepad ... a Steam Controller.

    So I have seen a lot of people having these issues and the any Video you click redirects to a YouTube Help Video saying something like "This video isn't supported on this app". This now has happened to me but I was able workaround it.

    I have the solution for you

    Go to your Revanced Extended settings and go to miscellaneous. Export your settings in both .txt and as a file just to be sure. (this might still not work to import it into the new app. So if have any special settings maybe take a screenshot or a Video)

    Then you can delete all the cache and app data of both YouTube Extended and the Vanced MicroG app and uninstall.

    Go to your RVX Manager > Settings > Sources and enter it as it shows on the screenshot I provided. (don't worry, once inotia is back you can just reset this back to default)

    Restart the Manager and do the usual.

    Go to patch, tap on the recommeded version and download it. Then go back to patch on your RVX Manager and tap on storage on the bottom right and choose the version you just downloaded and patch it.

    When done patching and installing after opening the app it'll tell you to that microG is missing and it'll redirect you to the supported GMScore site. Download and install it log back in to your Google account and go back to Import your settings (hopefully it works for you) AAAAND YOU'RE DONE. This worked for me and since I still see so many people looking for a solution I thought I'd share how I made it work again. Just to be clear, this app will still look and work like Revanced Extended but in it's core it now is YouTube Advanced and it works perfectly.

    I'm running Debian 12 for while now and it works great. Gossip says you need to get everything from flatpak because the packages are so outdated, but that's bullshit.
