Paedophiles create nude AI images of children to extort from them, says charity | Internet safety | The Guardian (www.theguardian.com)

Internet Watch Foundation has found a manual on dark web encouraging criminals to use software tools that remove clothing. The manipulated image could then be used against the child to blackmail them into sending more graphic content, the IWF said.

Not like Twitter officially has an +18 rating in Germany...

Just checked:
Why the fuck is Facebook, Instagram and TikTok +12 here?!
Facebook is basically an extremists training ground. Insta and TikTok aint much better >_>

That's highly fucked up if you replaced them 5 times within 4 years.

My Jabra 85h Elite ANC probably isnt as good as thr Airpods ANC but only had to replace them once within 4 years of having them. First replacement was within warranty and I was given new headphones but also could keep the old ones.
Used them for as long as they could still run. Very satisfied with the service from Jabra. Just the ANC is lacking.

'Vortex Cannon vs Drone' - Mark Rober shows off tech from a "defense technology company that specializes in advanced autonomous systems". That seems bad

I've enjoyed Mark Rober's videos for a while now. They are fun, touch on accessible topics, and have decent production value. But this recent video isn't sitting right with me...

I just opened two of his (Destin) newest videos and couldnt find any quote about it in the video and channel description.
Are you sure that's up to date informationen?

Found what you mean.
Yeah it's unobtrusive but the ones that should get the mesaage will receive it and the ones that do not, wont be bothered.

Good way to do it.

Appoxo ,
@Appoxo@lemmy.dbzer0.com avatar

Windows does manage it quite well with the OOBE to be fully functional with regular hardware. Only special stuff like (d)GPUs and external stuff might require special drivers.
Basic sound, networking, (multi-monitor) video and peripheral support works very good.

Then why do our ISPs in Germany at best just need our contract confirmation and maybe a SEPA entry?

Even my bank I opened an account with just wanted to get my tax-id and my ID-number (wich changes with every re-issue).

Just tried out the tutorial.
Seems like it could fit most of my use cases but feels like a shotgun vs a fly in scope (tbf my request is equally blown out of proportion).
Do you know of something that is more light weight and maybe aimed at a single person or for personal use?

I felt like the software "kanboard" fit the deal the most in terms of lightweight but I feel like the tracking abilities are kinda restrictive for my needs and Google Keep can do the most of it without additional maintenance.

Do you know of a kanban board with subtasking/commenting features?
With that I could probably manage to mention the subject line of an email or the RMA ID to find it later in my inbox

Edit: I feel like I found something to my liking: https://plane.so
Kanban Board like, has an editor and can create sub-issues.
if you find something similar or better, I'd appreciate your suggestion :)

Appoxo OP ,
@Appoxo@lemmy.dbzer0.com avatar

Focalboard seems to be in line with what I found in Plane (plane.so)
The fact it's way more light weight than plane makes it way better (dont need that much more digital debt ^^) for deploying it at home.

Will take a look at it the next day^tm^. The suggestion is appreaciated!

This looks like a contender to the suggestion from @lemmyreader with focalboard. Added for review!

Looks a bit too much like obsidian.md but less usable on the go.
Still thankful for the suggestion.

Appoxo OP ,
@Appoxo@lemmy.dbzer0.com avatar

From the few google pictures and the website it looks like Notion would fit.
But I don't feel like I want to be reliant on more online services if possible.

Appoxo OP ,
@Appoxo@lemmy.dbzer0.com avatar

Seems like Deck is dependant on a Nextcloud instance?
If yes it would be something I am currently not interested in as it entails too much at the moment. Will keep in mind for the future though.

Appoxo OP ,
@Appoxo@lemmy.dbzer0.com avatar

Markdown on the go is a bit annoying.

If you are not aware, there is a community plugin called remotely which can sync to OneDrive, S3 (compatible), Dropbox and WebDav.
Might be worth a look to circumvent syncthing.
Personally use syncthing for photosyncing and data backup from phone to NAS

Appoxo OP ,
@Appoxo@lemmy.dbzer0.com avatar

True. The customization would fit the requirement for the adaptability.
But for a bit of quick and dirty documentation of a task it would quickly get annoying and I would avoid it.

And I would probably start to use Obsidian with some community plugin or some of the already suggested tools.
What I like about kanban that it has a sort of ticket mentality in a 2D-space and can be in a pre-defined state (at least that's what I could gather from pictures).
This restricts me more and prevents me from micromanaging every detail.

    Can't confirm the waiting time.
    My Ryzen 7800X3D and nvidia 3070 based PC is snappy and quick to respond (if I am not running anything intensive in the background.
    My (i believe) i5 8600 in my work laptop (HP Elitebook 850 G5) is not as fast but once everything is up is usually quite responsive (1-2 chrome windows with multiple tabs, Teams, Outlook, OneNote, 2 different Remote Tools and some other programs I happen to run).

    I believe you have a slow af or broken SSD that's slowing you down. Better check with something like CrystalDisk.

    Appoxo ,
    @Appoxo@lemmy.dbzer0.com avatar

    That's why it's considered, you know, old?

    Appoxo ,
    @Appoxo@lemmy.dbzer0.com avatar

    That happens for me only if my network drives are not properly connected. Windows will absolutely take you on that until it's connected or times out.
    Your only way out is to crash explorer.exe

    Appoxo ,
    @Appoxo@lemmy.dbzer0.com avatar

    Absolutely something related to Cloud drives and it trying to load something on slow bandwidth connections.
    If my network drive at home is not connected windows becomes a slow behemoth. Connect the drive back and dayum it's fast.

    Appoxo ,
    @Appoxo@lemmy.dbzer0.com avatar

    If the requirement calls for it, don't run it on under-specced hardware and expect proper responsiveness.

    Appoxo ,

    980 Pro 500GB about 25-30% filled.
    All programs are outsourced to my secondary drive.
    All games are outsourced to my tertiary drive

    I run Wallpaper Engine in the back. Even with my backup software running it doesnt load longer than maybe 1sec at best.
    Now compressing a 7zip archive will make the CPU sweat and let my system think for maybe a bit more.

    Just host your own god damn servers alongside your webpage (assuming it's not running on Guthub pages)

    I meant that more along like hosting it alongside your web page on a VPS or something.

    Appoxo ,

    Dunno what devs use or spec to host their webpages or if they also use it for some dev work like building packages or something else.

    So if there are spare ressources, might as well use it.

    On desktop traditional ad blockers work perfectly

    That's my issue. I use YT primarily on my Chromecase and mobile.
    Firefox + ublock is clunky.
    3rd Party apps are a no-go for my Google Account. To much depends on that to get hacked just because I don't like ads.
    My justification for the price is, that I pay less for that than for Netflix and I use it daily.
    Also Creators get a significantly higher cut per view in comparison to regular viewers. So I don't need to feel bad when I block ads on Desktop and don't sub their patreon.

    Agreed.
    Them withholding a game makes me not consider them in the future. I'd rather pirate it if they were to keep withholding it.

    But I "allow" them to withhold 1st party games (or studios they aquire like Psyonix) from 3rd party stores. Same goes for Valve, EA, Ubisoft, Blizzard and Microsoft.
    They did the work and sure are entitled to keep it. It may not be in the interested of the consumer to have the need to install yet another launcher but it's fine.
    Them buying up 3rd party releases are what I have issues with
