Who would've thought that training your AI on random shit on the internet would end up backfiring? 🤔

Caligvla ,
@Caligvla@lemmy.dbzer0.com avatar

Yeah no, fuck that. I don't want to be carrying a pocketful of bills and coins when I can just have a card that does the same.

Caligvla ,
@Caligvla@lemmy.dbzer0.com avatar

Not being stuck inside of an echo chamber really does wonders for the brain. And yes, I know the irony of saying this on Lemmy, but it's true.

That is amazing! It's a toy car in human size LMAO!

Caligvla ,

Which is why nobody should use laws as a measure of morality, because they're often fucking stupid.

Soon enough Google will be injecting ads in your dreams.

Caligvla ,
@Caligvla@lemmy.dbzer0.com avatar

An ad isn’t going to convince me to buy anything.

That's what you think. But it stays in your subconscious and whenever you may need something related to that ad your brain might remember it and influence your actions. You're only truly immune to ads if you completely avoid them, which is impossible in modern society, you're constantly being subconsciously influenced by them whether you like it or not.

As TikTok ban threatens stability in social media ecosystem, some brands settle into the fediverse (digiday.com)

The possibility of a TikTok ban is inching closer to becoming a reality at this point. On Tuesday, the Senate passed the bill that would bar the social media platform from operating in the U.S. unless ByteDance, its Chinese parent company, sells its stake....

Caligvla ,
@Caligvla@lemmy.dbzer0.com avatar

While I agree with the sentiment, I feel like activitypub/fediverse would be unsustainable if it ever went mainstream without some form of capitalist investment to keep things running.

It's worse than that, washing the car even in wash mode will damage the car because the fucking thing is made out aluminum stainless steel, you know, a mineral that corrodes if exposed to water long enough. It's mind boggling how badly designed this car is.

Edit: sorry, confused my minerals there.

I'll pretend I understand there's a difference. :)

Paedophiles create nude AI images of children to extort from them, says charity | Internet safety | The Guardian (www.theguardian.com)

Internet Watch Foundation has found a manual on dark web encouraging criminals to use software tools that remove clothing. The manipulated image could then be used against the child to blackmail them into sending more graphic content, the IWF said.

A new NES emulator was briefly available on the Apple App Store (www.theverge.com)

Now, clicking on a link to Bimmy shows “This app is currently not available in your country or region.” This time, it wasn’t Apple that removed it but the developer. Over on MacRumors’ forums, the developer said it pulled the app “out of fear.” ...

Apple scared of Nintendo? I don't know man, I think the roles should be reversed.

Caligvla ,

Sure. Let's test it on the scientists who invented it first though.

So it's a looney bin, got it. Web 2.0 really was a mistake.

Caligvla ,
@Caligvla@lemmy.dbzer0.com avatar

Oh don't get me wrong, web 2.0 was a massive mistake, but 3.0 is a deliberate fucking scam and nothing else.

Caligvla ,
@Caligvla@lemmy.dbzer0.com avatar

Wikipedia:

Web 2.0 (also known as participative (or participatory) web and social web) refers to websites that emphasize user-generated content, ease of use, participatory culture and interoperability (i.e., compatibility with other products, systems, and devices) for end users.

It gave a voice and place to gather for all of society's crazies.

I don't get it, what's so bad about blue checkmarks? I know you can "buy" them now, but what of it?

Lemmy's built-in search barely works as it is, so unless some drastic changes happen it's resounding no.

Caligvla ,
@Caligvla@lemmy.dbzer0.com avatar

TIL I had misunderstood quantum entanglement. Which begs the question, what is point of it if a particle doesn't reflect the changes made on another particle? I thought that was what made the whole concept worthwhile... 🤔

Really? This bot is borderline useless most of the time, it just picks random sentences and stitches it together into a semi coherent post.

Linux market share passes 4% for first time (arstechnica.com)

We see the nearly 33-year-old OS’s market share growing 31.3 percent from June 2023, when we last reported on Linux market share, to February. Since June, Linux usage has mostly increased gradually. Overall, there's been a big leap in usage compared to five years ago. In February 2019, Linux was reportedly on 1.58 percent of...

You haven't tried Vivaldi then. It has the best tab management features of any browser by leaps and bounds, it saddens me they chose Chromium over Gecko given that manifest v3 is coming.

Caligvla ,
@Caligvla@lemmy.dbzer0.com avatar

I guess that's the one feature Sideberry has over Vivaldi, but I've never missed it if I'm being honest. To each their own.

... You guys might shit on it, but that's incredibly smart on their part. Ten years or more of that button being there and now suddenly something else replaces it, just imagine the amount of people accidentally hitting the button and being introduced to copilot. This was a very deliberate change.

They clearly stated

food and freight to feed every human on Earth for a year

It's a shit load of money, but let's be honest you need way more than that to feed everyone. If Musk decided to donate all of his fortune, then maybe that'd be true.
