It's easy to see why the US is defending Israel over the ICC, the US never ratified the treaty that gives the ICC any political power and we ignore anything they do. It wouldn't matter if it was Israel or George W. Bush or even Obama, we ignore everything they do.

VLANs are layer 2, they don't really need things like a router to work and should be set up at the switch//layer 2 level and are not routable across the internet. Based on the specifications you've stated you want to make a DMZ which is a lot different and will require knowledge of IP subnets, access control lists, and wildcard masks. It's not much harder to do, but it is different than what your doing, you wouldn't use a hammer for a screw.

Depends who you ask, some would consider that age group to be the at the end of Gen X and some consider that the beginning of the millennial. So people in that age group can consider themselves members of both generations.

Some famous ex felon and computer hacker named Kevin Mitnick wrote some books about privacy maxing, you might want to read a few of them. I guess he's still a felon, he just served his sentence and is no longer in prison. He did legit steal some people's identity and commit wire fraud.

I can't believe people trust others enough to rent their house out like a hotel. I've already seen so many problems from this I can't believe it's still legal. My neighbor moved and they turned it into an AirBnB, some kids threw a party and left some trash out that poisoned my other neighbors dog. There's a lawsuit, but the dog is still fucking dead.

What are the most private social media platforms?

I've been feeling uneasy about the privacy implications of using Lemmy and similar platforms. The ability for anyone to view your entire posting history feels to me like publicly sharing my browser history. In contrast, most other social media platforms allow you to limit your feed visibility to just friends or followers....

Depends what you do at your international company, because they can't really move anything like production or operations very easily and still expect tax benefits, but if they can move your job overseas where the cost of living is considerably less so employees make less money, they'll do it in an instant whether your in a union or not.

x86 is dying, legacy processing. It's all GPU's and ARM processing now. Apple is leaning hard into it so they set themselves as a leader in AI in the future.

They're not great, yet, but they're pretty cheap and really small. They'll probably get a lot better in the future though, remember the speed of x86 CPU's was once measured in MgHZ. I remember my first P4 with one whole GgHZ of speed, before even dual core CPU's.

Google Allows Creditors to Brick Your Phone (lemmy.world)

I installed NetGuard about a month ago and blocked all internet to apps, unless they're on a whitelist. No notifications from this particular system app (that can't be disabled) until recently when it started making internet connection requests to google servers. Does anyone know when this became a thing?...

Apple does it to, but I've only ever seen it happen when you buy your phone on a payment plan as part of your service agreement through your service provider. Kind of like if you lease a car and stop making payments they can lock the engine from turning over.

    I'm an American but even I know your in the minority with that opinion. You tell everyone in the EU to throw away their iPhone and delete their Facebook, I'm sure it's gonna be really easy to convince your EU friends.     No, if you take way facebook those people will move to either reddit on the left or /pol/ on the right. At least /pol/ takes some critical thinking skills to get to so the trolls there have to do something half smart, reddit is just an echo chamber. I'll take Facebook grannies over either though.
