Instagram Advertises Nonconsensual AI Nude Apps (www.404media.co)

Instagram is profiting from several ads that invite people to create nonconsensual nude images with AI image generation apps, once again showing that some of the most harmful applications of AI tools are not hidden on the dark corners of the internet, but are actively promoted to users by social media companies unable or...

My only hope is it also reduces CSAM of real people. Please at least do that much!

"skinhead" isnt as settled a term as it may appear. Nazi fucks gave punk a bad name by getting associated with them.

https://www.gq.com/story/punks-and-nazis-oral-history

Some reading for those unfamiliar.

Theres a good documentary i cant find explaining the history of skinheads. If i find it ill post it too

You really seem bothered by this. It comes across as fiercly opposed the the removal of body hair. And I understand the harm i see you trying to oppose.

But ive read 4 or 5 or your responses now and it seems like you are just being argumentative. Which is missed opportunity given your passion on this

From my observers perspective, it is not doing you any favours to just keep telling people they are wrong. It would go a long way to help your cause(hair removal is not a necessity and shouldnt be a forced custom)

A haircut can be a lot of different things cant it? The comic doesn't state what the end result will be. But it doesnt use the word shave it says haircut. Which is as much about styling as it is about removing hair. As someone who just got a haircut after 5 months of letting it go its own way, i just wanted it trimmed up and looking like i actually care about it because it was a bit wild and out of control. I didnt shave it off. Just needed to shape it to what I think looks good. I didnt do it for anyone elses benefit other than my own opinion. I did it for me to make me feel pretty. And im a hairy ass dude with a fantastic beard who has way more body hair issues than the average person

The idea is no different than if you reversed the places or situation.

But what i wish you were doing was explaining where you are coming from and why you feel so passionately about this opinion. I feel like you have a good message that is not getting out because you are just hammering away at people responding to you with stating your position instead of sharing your view on this and painting a picture of what it looks like where that position is.

If i could see what you see i might gain a new perspective. But im not new to this conversation and i can very few roads to lead me to it again.

And the problem with that is comment sections are not a public event, and there are likely more people who need to see a bigger picture than to already have an opinion. It takes work. It feels tedious and laborious to always have to teach people things you feel you shouldnt have to, but it is worth it. Its worth it to put the effort in so you can by your thankless effort be a mentor for some young or just innocent person finding out about themselves that body hair isnt something to be ashamed of even if you dont like your own body sometimes.

The effect(affect?) i think you want is one i agree with and support is one of loving thyself. Style is a form of expression. Expression is a form of communication more complex than words alone will ever be.

Currently have a pixel 6 256gig

Spent about a half hour in a hot tub with it in my pocket on saturday and it shut automatically disables the usb port.

Its like when you walk full speed into a glass door because you forgot THAT one sliding glass door DOES, in fact, exist.

Or drive away from your parking spot with food on the top of your car.

Inconsequentlycoincidently I had taken edible and also tried a new whiskey called spicebox chocolate. Its a canadian rye whiskey aged in cocoa bean barrels the label says. So im not entirely sure th

Jarix ,

I want to know everything about why you despise JB. Please be as verbose as possible if you feel up to this request.

Jarix ,

Im too dumb to understand what you are telling me lol

Jarix ,

You have to explicitly pay people to care. And incentivise(not work them to death ie) them not to get complacent

Edit. This is meant as commentary not a disagreement or an argument

Jarix ,

Im trying to say that money needs to be spent with strings attatched to the outcome you want, and you have to make the job worth doing to get those results you are explicitly paying for or you wont get it. It also means that if someone is not caring they need to be gone.

It makes sense to me, but im not sure im explaining it right

Jarix ,

Thats a curious anecdote about ford.

Now if only there was a technology that could make me about a 1minute long movie about it...

Jarix ,

I failed at being clever at referencing the Sora AI for video which is limited to 1 minute.

Was saying it would make an interesting video documentary. Well i thought that was what i was saying. It made sense in my head lol

Jarix ,

Fears drive the sale of personal transportation? Where do you get that information? I work in the auto industry so im genuinely curious if you can point me to some further reading that helped form this opinion. Will make for some interesting conversations at the watercooler if you can help me with some solid articles.

Much appreciated if you got some

Jarix ,

Ahh thats not gonna help me unfortunately but thanks for responding!

Jarix ,

I think they are saying that this person apparently drives poorly enough to warrant a huge increase in insurance and that they want people who are bad drivers to be found out, but that they don't like the way this person was found to be a bad driver. Kind of a "while this is the result we want this is horrible, and not the way to get it."

They are conflicted, perhaps even made conceptually(?) uncomfortable, because they see value in that persons insurance reflecting their driving history, by the fact that they see a positive outcome in this case of invasion of privacy.

That's how i read it, not then condoning it just sharing some internal dilemma here. If my take is accurate, we should have compassion and help them through this with support not jumping to conclussions.

They very much did not suggest that they approve at all of the sale of their data only that they see a connection.

They cant ignore that people will use this as justification to continue down this path into the complete solvency of privacy...and that it may just work

I'm making a lot of assumptions to explain my take in their eyes and expanding out a bit. Admittedly i am exploring this and cannot prove anything I've just said

Jarix ,

I bought a giant bag of lapsang souchon and usually just use my french press. I also bought like a hundred empty paper tea pouches that have alson been good for making spiced apple juice

Jarix ,

Hello friend, nice to meet you!

Jarix ,

Its pretty amazing for voice communication in gaming.

As a messenging app? Meh

Jarix ,

Gamers using it for gaming. In game Voice communication is trash

Jarix ,

Omg trillian immediately reminds me of ICQ and MSN Messenger

Jarix ,

Huh. Never noticed the dog and child in this picture before. TIL

It's not about where ai is right now. I think the problems is where it's headed.
Ai is going to get better in a similar trajectory to how digital storage hardware has gone since the first CD-ROM or there abouts give or take a decade

If you haven't yet seen it This video might be worth the time

Jarix ,

Googled the pirate bay and it wouldnt.

Unless the first link after a link to the wiki, www. piratebayorg.org is the correct place to go..

Duckduckgo first result was the correct result

Hate on spacex and its competitors as much as you want, im not saying you dont have cause.

But defunding NASA caused this. Those billionaires looked and said holy shit, the entire nasa budget is only that much? And they arent building rockets anymore? I can literally fund my own space program? Ide be crazy not to

Jarix ,

Wild that you just called gender a choice

Jarix ,

Isnt it what LGBTQ+ community has been fighting for everyone to understand?

Jarix ,

I ponder if people are comfortable expressing to someone they just meet that they find them gross? Hmm

My point is there often is nothing to see because that's actively attempting to be hidden. Good normal decent people don't like the feeling of giving people bad news already but when it's bad news about something so personal and also recognizing that not everyone gets dealt the best hand in life?

It's insane to put the entirety of responsibility to "read the room" on one person even if they are the initiator.

This is where social contract comes in. We all need a new modern social contract we can agree on to help us remove these barriers of interaction.

But i guess that's the point of these types of works is to bring attention to that situation. It's a valid observation i think, commentary on it aside for now

Jarix ,

Bad jokes and ones that bomb are written everyday. Still can be an attempt at a joke

Jarix ,

As far as i can tell we said the same thing. I will admit i have a hard time figuring our how to explain what im thinking so im not attempting to blame anyone here

It's the responsibility of everyone who interacts with others in a public space to be knowledgeable about both verbal and nonverbal cues that someone's not interested, so that they can display and/or recognize them as required.

This is part of what i envision a new modern social contract would take care of

Jarix ,

I don't see that as a new social contract though. That's the one we have now

I'm proposing we come together to recognize a modern idea of what a social contract should be today.

It's needs to be written, discussed, revised and ultimately accepted.

It seems to me not enough people acknowledges that this is even a thing at all. Cynical a that may be. We are talking about something similar it seems. Sorry I'm not the best at running down my thoughts. But i do appreciate you responding!

Different people have an easier or harder time learning these cues, but there's not really an excuse - we all have to work hard enough to get to the point where we can function socially in the community

This is important to figure out. But it's also why i see what we currently have as obsolete and not inclusive of our modern times.

We do not often compensate for people who don't have the same advantages and opportunity to figure out those cues. Even when it is acknowledged.
There are excuses i can accept for not figuring out on your own these cues. This is why i think the idea of a social contract needs more attention.

And i could accept that the need for something new doesn't exist, maybe. Ill concede that my mind isn't settled in this yet in in spite of already holding a form opinion already.
But not without at least everyone being educated about it as much as you and i seem to be, flawed as that may or may not be.
At least enough that no one can claim ignorance of it, and also be responsible for their own actions and decisions

Jarix ,

Sorry my bad.

I meant it needs to be written down again in a similar way that Hobbes Locke and Rousseau did once before.

We need enough people to be thinking about it with fresh eyes of this modern world.

You are absolutely correct it cant be codified like it's a set of rules or something.

I just believe that if there is a critical mass of people re-evaluating the concept, either because the world has changed enough that in a large part due to modern technology having got to a point we are invested online often more than offline.

And going back to what you were saying, different people will have a different experience so they will not have the same needs or considerations. I think this connection to ground level communities almost anywhere in the world means we need to update our tools to understand our place and the consquences of our actions.

And it's an amazing accomplishment. But we need to keep it amazing by his we choose to use it and what we want to do with it and the people we cross here.

Jarix ,

He's no different from anyone you can go talk to who works in computer repair / IT.

That's how i first know who he is. I just still think of him just like a regular guy from my area but that got super famous online

But i was a customer at NCIX where he formally worked so I've met him before he was famous and in a very different context than you so no surprise.

But im sure he is a very different person almost 20 years later like anyone would be.

(Just sharing with you not arguing or anything!)

Jarix ,

Also for wide adoption of Linux, If Linus who literally built and fixed computers to pay the bills and learned enough doing that to go on to build the media company he currently has can't get the Linux things done he's attempted, that's a pretty clear sign post that Linux is not ready for wide adoption in its current state.

Linus is better equipped to install Linux than im guessing 90% of people on the planet

Jarix ,

I think if your name is Jesus you get to celebrate it

Jarix ,

Better hope donor parts don't start getting used to by pass security features or this will happen in an instant

Jarix ,

What is "cool"? Subjective right?

If you have a passion for driving, and enjoy the ride feel off a 67 Corvette, as a pie chart, the 'vette is vastly superior because both cars are tools. The same tool can be used for different situations but its the situation that defines what is superior and what isnt.

Its just a matter of perspective.

I say this as someone who prefers driving a stick shift. Ive probably driven equal kilometers on automatic vs stick.

While i very much would like one, EVs are probably just as distinct in their own way.

I would place a very large bet that some people feel the same way i do about standard transmissions as they do about EVs. And there have already been articles about there being a learning curve when switching to an EV

Jarix ,

We need more data for everyone to see.

We need to see what the average vehicle owner does with their vehicles.

Because the people who use their cars they most need the best experience, but they used the vehicle differently than the majority of people.

Evs need to be released on different models for different styles.

If you only travel with people that need constant breaks, then there no reason needing a 15 to 20 minute break frequently can't be made to work with a lower range vehicle if you only need to do long trips a few times a year or less. The savings of having that vehicle the rest of the time should be made to more than offset any special needs that aren't needed often.

There's other options to explore as well. Like it's easy to find example of vehicles with multiple gas tanks. If you need an extended battery there should be a trailer like attachment that extends the range of your vehicle. Make towing something get you better range because the thing you added towing is extra "fuel"

I'm sure there are technical problems that will need to be addressed or solved and it might require car companies to change designs about to make it seams but it's very doable

Jarix ,

Sold. Beats NOT being immortal. If im immortal ill have time to fix it, eventually

Jarix ,

I'm fine with the chances. We only get one life and I would like to see a much of it i can before it's curtains.

I got to experience life before and after the interenet already. Want to see what other revolutions will happen and how the world changes
