There is a science fiction story I love but can never find.

It was about a society that was deep into climate change. Humans lived in giant concrete bunkers and never went outside. The oceans and land was fucked but we managed optimize it all to keep living. Farm the ocean for plankton for food and oxygen.
Set a limit on how many humans we could have and how much food, water and activity you could do in a day to preserve resources.
And one man had managed to save a small patch of grass at the cost of a little bit of his own water. Until it was discovered and deemed an unoptimized flaw and burned.

I think of that story when I think of humans surviving climate change a lot. I think about it whenever I think I would like to have kids.

Just to touch on a problem but there.

Humans can live IN SPACE.

Ahhh no... We can habitat space. We really really can't live there.

We can't really give birth or develop in space, gravity unlike ours will eventually deteriorate our bodies, even on Mars you will go blind and start developing clots before too long just from the slightly lower gravity. And that's nothing of the radiation we are blocked from here on Earth.

The list is long and bad. We are adaptable but mostly on Earth adaptable. Able to survive climates and regions not everything ever. We can probably eventually figure out space but we can never just live there.

So when we destroy the planet we might really just take ourselves out too.

I studied theoretical astrophysics as part of an earth and space exploration field.

Trust me, we really don't just have all the technology. That doesn't answer a lot of problems and you are assuming our level of science.

We might be able to figure out a good chunk of it if money is of no cost but that's no guarantee.

Man not even to talk about material cost. It would take us decades.

Your example was a generic from science fiction vague statement about a shielded rotating space station.

You have no experience or expertise to back up your statement.

It ignores the extra damage a large space station takes from micro asteroids by being a larger target. It ignores fuel costs of moving something that large into orbit. It ignores food and oxygen limitations on populace. It ignores low gravity birth issues. Radiation issues. Issues of diseases, resources collection and management.

You made a vague uneducated guess of an idea and demanded it be the requirement of others to prove you wrong.

    Good. People shouldn't be ordering body altering chemicals randomly off the Internet.

    This isn't a big story, in fact its basic legal discourse and didn't even come with a drug bust or actual crackdown.

    If this story was about a website selling benzos and the comments were full of stay at home white women complaining about the suffering they would now endure having to be sober, people would be laughing at them, and worried about their need for this. Not completely identical but this kind of rage bait only works because of the group it points to.

    No it's a body altering drug that directly impacts sensitive hormones balances that our bodies use for regulation and development.

    It's still a life altering drug even if it's not addictive. Your argument doesn't make sense cause it's got a huge impact if it can be bought by anyone with access to digital currency. And is it a lot of people? The trans community is supposedly only a fraction of a percent to a percent of the overall populace. People are suffering from the underfunded healthcare in much more dire ways than cosmetic medications.

    Are we ok with people selling chemo medication and opioids through the Internet? People have pain and are dying of cancer and need the drugs too.

    You are upset because of the community it impacts not the actual problems it represents.

    Suicide is prevalent outside of the LGBTQ community as well. I understand that it comes with a higher rate likely from bullying but I'm sure there are other groups that also have high suicide rates if we broke them down the same way.

    The answer is be rich or don't be anything. Lack of cancer treatment, lack of dental treatment, lack of preventative care. All of those are legitimate issues as well.
    Yes, if you aren't rich you will likely suffer from the things you want but can't do.

It's that, it doesn't require allowing a free for all to access hormone manipulating drugs to handle and in a better world we should absolutely be going through legitimate channels instead of praising drug lords for supplying illegally on the internet.

    The trans community is not the greatest or the only victim in this world. It's unfair but praising illegal drug sales is not correct.

    Edit: Disregard my first here statement. Got you confused with someone else. Yes the healthcare system is fucked but it's fucked for everyone and again this is not literally life saving like the way that blood thinners or anti-psychotics even would be.

    This also would have been the time period relatively shortly after the Civil war. The south is currently coming up with excuses to still not treat recently freed slaves very well, the KKK is rising in power and just recently the conservative Democrat party has taken over the south just a year or 2 ago by killing a large portion of the black Republican base and representatives.

    Keeping them down to not risk having to be treated the same is absolutely all the rage in the south despite it causing a massive economic depression. This definitely feels like satire.

    I honestly think it will have to be semi curated and look a lot like a more complex digital version of an encyclopedia.

    I mean I think the stupid LLM craze is from trying to make something like that in the vain of the "Hitchhikers Guide" but without having to do the actual work and using autogenerated articles except that makes them prone to being false. The Hitchhikers Guide still had writers and people entering and double checking information.

    It can then further link you to related stuff from the web but the wide spread of information is somewhat dead since it's now the product to be sold and free and easy sharing of it would ruin profit margins.

    The current goal is to keep things exactly as they are or with more oppression as needed keep it static.

    The left can bring guns but it won't change anything other than maybe slightly more likely to die by a cop's hand unless they are willing to use them and once that starts it's will be a lot tougher because we are on the side of change, which must be crushed by the current system.
