That's definitely possible, but is way more expensive than using an existing system like GPS.

LostXOR ,

Did you mean to leak your email in that screenshot?

LostXOR ,

From what I know that is somewhat true, the current will disperse through the water relatively uniformly. But it'll still create voltage gradients that will probably kill any fish nearby.

LostXOR ,

Better than eating a full sized SD card, at least.

LostXOR ,

I've had that a few times on my accounts (I scrape content so they get suspended relatively often) and I always just grab a photo from thispersondoesnotexist.com and crop out the watermark. It hasn't failed me yet.

LostXOR ,

I've never had them ask for a photo ID so idk.

LostXOR ,

That's a pretty cool idea, though I think it would be a challenge to align the plans perfectly with the actual construction site.

LostXOR ,

If one millionth of the brain is 1.4 petabytes, the whole brain would take 1.4 zettabytes of storage, roughly 4% of all the digital data on Earth.

LostXOR ,

I just went ahead and deleted anything that looked Edge-related from all the system directories. Sure, my computer won't boot into Windows anymore, but all the more reason to use Linux!

LostXOR ,

There's a big difference between being against Israel and being antisemitic, and people need to see that. Heck, I'm literally Jewish and I don't support Israel.

LostXOR ,

Could always use a nickel, they're a nickel copper alloy IIRC which should be more resilient.

Edit: I'm dumb, older nickels don't have a date on them. Quarters or dimes should work though.

LostXOR ,

There's always the carefully applied soldering iron.

LostXOR ,

Where are you located? I'm in need of some new backup drives and would be happy to pay a reasonable price + shipping if you're interested.

LostXOR ,

Interesting, I've never heard of that. What does it blinking signify?

LostXOR ,

Me opening /dev/urandom as a raw video stream to watch some nice relaxing RGB static.

LostXOR ,

The article does say it takes five minutes to create a new story and picture. I assume most of that time is spent generating the picture. Still pretty impressive, but nowhere near the few seconds you can get with fast hardware.

LostXOR ,

Just block cookies for the site and never worry about it again.

LostXOR ,

Yeah, I switched to Mint back in 2019 and can't imagine going back. I have a Windows dual boot for certain games, but whenever I use it it feels like such a terrible experience compared to Linux. I don't think I've used it in a couple months because of that lol.

LostXOR ,

Slightly simpler, start at 1 and increment by 2 so you don't have to check whether i is odd.

for (var i = 1; i < 100; i += 2) {
  console.log(i);
}
LostXOR ,

Is that safe for the plasticy synthetic ones? I'd try but I don't want to melt or burn it.

LostXOR ,

According to every site ever I was born on Jan 1, 2000.

EM Eye: Electromagnetic Side-channel Eavesdropping on Embedded Cameras (emeyeattack.github.io)

EM Eye investigates a cybersecurity attack where the attackers eavesdrop on the confidential video data of cameras by parsing the unintentional electromagnetic leakage signals from camera circuits. This happens on the physical/analog layer of camera systems and thus allows attackers to steal victim's camera data even when...

so just don't take pictures of classified stuff while carrying around a weirdly warm battery bank an unusually attractive eastern European girl gave you as an engagement gift and you're good.

Lmao, I really hate it when that happens.

Roku explores taking over HDMI feeds with ads (www.lowpass.cc)

Roku is exploring ways to show consumers ads on its TVs even when they are not using its streaming platform: The company has been looking into injecting ads into the video feeds of third-party devices connected to its TVs, according to a recent patent filing.  ...

Freedom is still just a ribbon cable (or soldering iron) away!

LostXOR ,

That didn't work for me the last time I tried it (and neither did Ventoy). I had to borrow a Windows PC and use the media creation tool.

LostXOR ,

Back when I had an iPhone I used Orion. It's not perfect, but it blocked the vast majority of ads for me.

LostXOR ,

It definitely runs the command for me in GNOME Terminal. Pasting multiple commands at once runs everything but the last command.

LostXOR ,

You could encrypt the backup codes with a strong password using something like AES, then print the encrypted data out in hexadecimal or base64.

LostXOR ,

That's really cool. Much of the hype around AI tends to focus on it acting like an intelligent human (which it doesn't do very well), but glosses over stuff like this (which it can do very well).

LostXOR ,

...Hopefully.

Have fun trying to find what went poof. :)

LostXOR ,

Yeah I'm thinking that's most likely the problem.

LostXOR ,

And to shut down the day of a total solar eclipse? That's extra mean.

LostXOR ,

Things like this make me glad I don't use Windows.

LostXOR ,

I'm still using my email from before I was 13 (don't tell Google).

LostXOR ,

Yeah, I'd think it would be more cost effective to record the API requests the apps send and simulate those. No way the servers can tell the difference (unless they update the API or something).

LostXOR ,

I was thinking more of using a debugger to see the API calls the app is making before SSL, not intercepting them over the network. Getting the secret would be harder but I assume it's stored somewhere in the app or app data and could be extracted. I'd be surprised if social media apps are storing it in the TPM.

I guess it comes down to whether it's easier/cheaper to do all of the above than to just buy a bunch of physical phones.

LostXOR ,

Ah yes, using AI to solve problems with AI.

LostXOR ,

That comes after the election, of course!

LostXOR ,

You can, but it takes a considerable amount of force.

LostXOR ,

Yeah there's definitely some sort of major outage going on. Google Play Store is having some problems for me currently too.

LostXOR ,

Once something is on the internet, trying to take it down will only make it spread more. Especially on a site like GitHub where forking a repo is built-in functionality.

LostXOR ,

Wow I didn't know ethics textbooks were this intense.

LostXOR ,

I wouldn't be too concerned about that. Annual hydrogen production is around 120 billion kg per year, which corresponds to about 1.08 trillion liters of water. We use about 4 quadrillion liters of fresh water total each year.
