There's a lot of good reasons for such thing, for example automatically enabling parking brake if drivers seat is empty. No idea if Tesla has such thing but I'd fucking love to have it in my car. Forgotten to pull the brake couple times and just realized car starts moving when I'm about to exit the car lol

hemko ,

Dog would start eating you as well once it gets hungry enough

hemko ,

Toddler meetings were a big thing during pandemic though

hemko ,

Very cool, hope you don't have fireworks pranksters around there

hemko ,

No, it's about 2 people talking online, and there's some 5 billion dish machines distance between them making the travel difficult or expensive

hemko ,

They do though mention "+" and "-" also banned in the username part, which is kinda annoying

hemko ,

Eh, honestly I think blocking plus addressing as a workaround to block people from using multiple identities on the site is very weak argument and ignores completely the reason plus addeesses are being used in the first place, tagging.

And the addition of "-" just tells they don't really know what they're doing, considering it's not only valid but also very common symbol in email addresses

hemko ,

You can still spam with user1@domain.tld, user2@domain.tld etc and it takes basically no extra effort

hemko ,

I don't understand the GNOME(bad), KDE Plasma(worse), X.org(worst)

What is it supposed to mean, and why are the 2 DEs compared to xorg?

hemko ,

Yeah they're quite different DEs, it's really a preference more than one being better than other

hemko ,

Chip binning is great because it creates less waste, cheaper product and more profit for the manufacturer. Rare case of where everyone seem to win.

But there was this case where intel was designing chip that could be sold at lower price and more cores could be unlocked in software for a price.

How trustworthy are LLM translations? Normal machine translation may lose context but I imagine LLM could make up shit?

hemko ,

Not even to hide anything from anyone, but to not have porn pop up in suggestions when casually browsing internet.

I do this on both phone and computer, that my wife doesn't even know password to (or care about)

Lawsuit alleges Grindr illegally shared users' HIV status, sensitive data with third-party advertisers. (www.theregister.com)

Hundreds have joined a UK class action lawsuit against LGBTQ+ dating app Grindr, seeking damages over a historical case of the company allegedly forwarding users' HIV status as well as other sensitive data to third-party advertisers....

hemko ,

Wait YouTube requires id verification to view "mature" content?

hemko ,

that they found the wrong information because they have literally no idea what's good or bad, instead of helping, they get shit on.

I don't think anyone's seriously shitting on nooby mistakes, because everyone has done something stupid like that and learned a lesson from it. It's kind of a "cute noob" moment

hemko ,

This is very much a Slayer moment, except that reading the bands and the members, Hanneman's Araya's and King's wiki pages is quite a rollercoaster

hemko ,

Just open the site in incognito mode or delete data for the site

hemko ,

Lmao

The standard procedure is to close access during the meeting but that's new level of efficiency

hemko ,

No, but the users could just create account in any other instance federated with the blocked instance

Or just spin up a new one in heitzner or something

hemko , (edited )

Yeah true. So other instances is the best bet, and better used over tor to mask the connections

Moon's not a planet. It's a moon that is orbiting a planet.

Edit: I'm big dum dum

hemko ,

What a cunt planet

Windows/Macos/Linux are designed around the fact that the person managing the device has root access, Android and iOS are designed around noone having root access.

Sure it's fine to mess around with rooted phone and look what's inside, but essentially for your daily operations having rooted phone is unnecessary security risk.

hemko ,

You're free to install another operating system or variation on Android on your phone still. And if you decided to go with another Android such as Graphene, you'd still not want to root it because it's a security risk.

Agnosticism was coined because people were afraid of coming out as atheists, but it's really the same thing.

Atheist thinks there's no evidence for god so it doesn't make sense to believe in one.

Agnostic thinks there's no evidence for god, so it's unlikely there's one.

In both cases, the person is science first and would change their opinion if proof was presented but before that they don't believe in god.

hemko ,

Looks like I made a small mistake, but it just takes agnostic closer to atheist

The English biologist Thomas Henry Huxley coined the word agnostic in 1869, and said "It simply means that a man shall not say he knows or believes that which he has no scientific grounds for professing to know or believe

hemko , (edited )

So what you're saying is that there's people who don't believe that god(s) exist but they believe in it/them anyways?

Or they believe in some trash evidence for the existence of god

hemko ,

If for example we didn't know how much time has passed, it would be impossible to estimate with any calculations the temperature - thus agnostic person would conclude there's no way of knowing, thus believing the coffee is warm or cold is useless.

Read again that quote I posted earlier

The English biologist Thomas Henry Huxley coined the word agnostic in 1869, and said "It simply means that a man shall not say he knows or believes that which he has no scientific grounds for professing to know or believe

The very basis of agnosticism is basing your belief or opinion in verified data. Faith lays on believing without a proof. Those 2 things are the polar opposites, and agnostic theist an oxymoron

Had a good laugh on the sorting hat comic

There's FOSS* client for Oldschool Runescape, called Runelite ;)

*some proprietary blobs because Jamflex didn't like that RL devs were providing source code for the reverse engineered bits from the official java client

Square block of concrete weighting 1 metric ton:
Doesn't support throwing it with human power

Conclusion: square block of concrete weighting 1 metric ton wins

He's very based for one though

If guitarist King writes a good song, Araya puts his beliefs aside, "I'm not one that's going to go, 'This sucks because it's contrary to my beliefs.' To me it's more like 'This is really good stuff. You're going to piss people off with this.'"

hemko ,

Yeah about the same here. I know for certain that I have very good reputation within the company, and just recently got a fancy new title with big increase in salary but still unproductive days like today make me feel extremely shitty and feel just I'm slacking and they'll notice soon

hemko ,

Anyway, Stalin had the right idea with gulags, and we should bring those back.

Very edgy. Straight outta 4chan

Look mate I don't live in USA, I have nothing to do with USA. I was commenting on your stupid ass glorification of forced labor camps in soviet shithole

And you clearly don't seem to have problem with US prison system, only that wrong people are sent there. You're as full of shit as the people you think you're criticizing. You'd rather be yelling at people not loving your dear dictators than actually trying to do anything good for the world.

hemko ,

Because you buy one thinking you'd charge it more often. Maybe it's slower to charge at home than you anticipated, or maybe it's just more convenient to go to closest gas station than charging station - also WAY faster.

It's like when you buy a box of chocolate thinking you'd just eat few pieces

hemko ,

Yeah maybe not, unless if you can go shop or something while the car is charging

hemko ,

This style of connector wedges itself watertight, so there's that
