Ubuntu will ask you if usage data can be collected and sent to canonical when you first log in after installation. You get to look at the exact data that would be sent before making a decision and if you say no, then they'll comply with that and never ask you again.

You're just sitting on your couch, trying to watch a movie, when your blu ray player suddenly begins to sound like a leaf blower, until a glowing hot disk of destruction shoots through the tray at fourty thousand rpm, ripping through your walls, decapitating your neighbor and taking down some sattelites in orbit

Any LLM chat bot or image generator that is open source, privacy based and doesn't need an account or app to use it ?

I found one but after a limit you cannot use it anymore without making an account now i can surpass it by using different ip but the conversation wouldn't go in a flow and it will get tiresome fast so if anyone know one which meets these criteria do comment ....

How do I automount sshfs?

I have SSHFS on my server and would like to have it automatically mounted and store all of the documents, desktop, downloads, etc. on a couple computers. I am able to get it to all work except for mounting on startup. The server is Debian 12 and both clients are Tumbleweed. Nothing in fstab seems to work. When I add...

Write a systemd service, that's how my computers mount my nas.
you just need to have it run under your user instead of root or point it towards the right keys manually.

ichbinjasokreativ ,

I just have them check for my wifi. If that's what they're connected to, then the nas is available. If not, then there's no point trying to mount it. However, one day every month my nas pulls updates and shuts down afterwards, so that I need to boot it again when I get home from work. But my laptop boots just as fast as it normally does, even though it fails to connect to the nas.

Such an up and down though. I have an ancient epson scanner that cannot be used on modern windows, but I just installed the driver on linux and everything has been amazing.

ichbinjasokreativ ,

Not quite that old, it is connectet via USB-B. Windows drivers only exist for 32 Bit systems, on linux the drrivers come in a deb package that works on modern installations.

Some anti cheats can detect that they're running in a virtual machine and if they do, you'll probably get banned for some reason.

I used to se in camp firefox, but ungoogled chromium just feels so much better now

ichbinjasokreativ ,

Because it has all the features I actually want and none of the ones I don't need. Firefox also isn't anywhere near as privacy respecting as people think. And lacks features that even ungoogled chromium has (like websql). I'm kind of surprised about the downvotes tbh. Hive mind much?

ichbinjasokreativ ,

I don't need more than the basics, things like hardware acceleration and extension support, although websql and the likes are occasionally useful. I don't sync, I don't need pocket or a vpn, and mozilla telemetry has caused my laptop to almost be rate limited by my pihole before. Ungoogled chromium does exactly what I need it to do while feeling faster than firefox. Idk if it actually is, but sometimes feelings are enough. And with the market share of chromiums engine, I don't think the potential fingerprinting of its features is statistically relevant.

It's way too reliant on their cloud infrastructure though, causing it to detect and react to malware slower than other solutions and it turns to shit the second the network disconnects.
The PC security channel on YouTube has some good analysis of it.

Why is Graphene listed as Google play incompatible? They have far and away the best implementation of google play services if the user chooses to install them.

The point is not that you can audit it yourself, it's that SOMEBODY can audit it and then tell everybody about it. Only a single person needs to find an exploit and tell the community about it for that exploit to get closed.
