Like Chrome Firefox has an internal Task manager at: about:processes

You could try opening it in a second window. It might show you what causes the hang. There is also: about:memory to see where the RAM went. It's a bit more technical though.

Wait, copying a pdf and pasting it into chatgpt is exactly how I picture a bad recruiter doing their job.

CTRL-C, CTRL-V,

hire?

joe_cool ,

It's pretty cool. Can also display inline images in w3m.

joe_cool ,

Good stopped existing after 7. Only bad and slightly less bad.

joe_cool ,

Ironically Baloo is probably the most commonly hated KDE component. Desktop Search seems hard.

joe_cool ,

RX470 is fully supported with the latest drivers. Anything from Radeon HD 7000 (GCN2) series from ~10 years ago and newer uses AMDGPU with (almost) all features available. GCN1 is experimental but also works.

Older cards use the Radeon driver and miss out on Vulkan.

joe_cool ,

Yeah now the handles point in different directions.

joe_cool ,

The real journalism is always in the comments. Or how did that go?

joe_cool ,

They bought it and fed it into copilot. My guess what they mean.

joe_cool ,

I hated them since Windows 8. Ughh. Was the year of my Linux desktop. I still keep a Win7, WinXP and DOS/Win98 machine around but that's it for me.

Yandex Image search found: https://knowyourmeme.com/photos/2109763-counter-signal-memes

That one claims BourbonRogers on Twitter is the author.

EDIT: the warning might be justified, there's a few nudes ;)

Ah, the HP Omen that uses mostly standard components and might be decent but has a coked up marketing team that makes me trust the brand by driving me insane.

Gotcha.

joe_cool ,

In the tub. For a relatively short time.

Microsoft is once again injecting pop-up ads into Google Chrome on Windows in a bid to get people to switch to Bing (www.theverge.com)

The software giant first introduced malware-like pop-up ads last year with a prompt that appeared over the top of other apps and windows. After pausing that notification to address “unintended behavior,” the pop-ups have returned again on Windows 10 and 11....

If I continue to break the law with my car they will take it away.

MS should be forced to sell Bing+Edge as a separate entity.

joe_cool ,

I wonder what would happen if Chrome asked the user to replace Onedrive with Google Drive on startup.

joe_cool ,

It does. I use yandex in my Firefox porn container now.

In a perfect world GeoIP should be illegal.
Let's see if Elon's satellites will bring uncensored internet to every inch of the planet.

joe_cool ,

SimpleX is very neat. But it cannot do multiple devices unless you count shutting down, exporting database to new device replacing existing database as a sensible workflow. Using the database on two devices at once will break encryption and cause all sorts of weird problems.

joe_cool ,

I have it disabled anyways along with the Carrier Services app. Guess what: my battery life improved dramatically.

joe_cool ,

Hangouts/Google Talk was great when they had federation and allowed 3rd party clients. After they locked that it went to shit.

joe_cool ,

Total Commander is a godsend. I don't know how people use Windows or Android without it.

joe_cool ,

Friendly reminder that nearly everyone on Twitter the Internet the planet are fuckheads.

joe_cool ,

You can support a Windows domain and tons of endpoints from Linux. I know. My work PC runs Arch, btw.

xfreerdp is much better than mstsc.exe

joe_cool ,

I doubt my helpdesk staff will support my PC. I manage the company including helpdesk PCs from my PC.

It will probably be last PC working when the dummies in that department manage to get spearfished and all windows boxes are encrypted.
There's not a lot you can do against idiots with Domain Admin credentials other than off-site backups (on a non AD joined Linux PC of course).

joe_cool ,

It's almost at the point where Wine can run more games than Windows. Most games from the Win98 to early WinXP era just run fine on Wine and don't even show a title screen or glitch and flicker on Win10.

joe_cool ,

Also do you really need a full DE when just using a browser on the go? I use i3wm without a compositor on battery and my wifi+firefox battery life went from 5h to about 7-8h.

joe_cool ,

Might be cheaper to buy the equipment at that point.

But seriously: That is not at all what the insurance pays. Prices are ridiculously inflated to give ridiculous discounts to greedy companies. Patients and Doctors get the short end of the stick.

joe_cool ,

Downvotes on Lemmy do even less than on reddit. Some people use it as a general "disagree but too lazy to reply" button. You could just look up who voted on ActivityPub though, so votes aren't anonymous.
