Really who cares? The free tier is shit and has always been shit. That's the point of the free tier, to get you to pay.

Previously they didn't even have a free tier, now they do and it's free. Of course not every feature exists and especially not a feature like lyrics which isn't essential and Spotify has to pay extra for.

lud ,

I haven't been in a cybertruck (probably no one in this thread has) but the visibility looked decent in the MKBHD review.

lud ,

The nights aren't very cool in some parts of the world.

I wish bug nets for windows (or at all) were standard in Sweden.
In some places in the country you will be bitten by 10 thousand mosquitoes just because you dared to open the window for a minute.

I keep my PC in my bedroom so it's hard in general to keep the room comfortable but in the winter you can at least open the windows for a few seconds and nearly instantly make the room comfortable (and without insects). In the summer it's fucking impossible to keep the room cool no matter what you do. At least the PC has good cooling so it survives; I just wish I would.

lud ,

Seems unnecessary to list women just because they are women.

lud ,

What more is there to say?

lud ,

I also host all my stuff on 192.168.1.2.
It's just my gaming pc with a bunch of services for piracy but it's good enough until I can build a proper server in the future.

lud ,

These editorialised post titles are so stupid.

lud ,

I take no stance on the psyop thing but is always selling the best way to seek profits. I say no. Unless they can sell and somehow force the buyer to operate exclusively in the USA. If not then there is still the rest of the world to profit from and selling their entire USA branch would suddenly create a new huge competitor.

lud ,

Why don't they just sell TikTok to a US Citizen who happens to believe TikTok should remain the same?

Who?
What USA citizen is prepared to buy something for the privilege of fighting the USA government with would obviously get mad and probably block the sale if byte Dance TikTok is still involved.

I don't really follow USA politics but didn't this law pass by quite large margins? They could obviously ban toktik.

lud ,

Then the EU would need some evidence of propaganda.

lud ,

There are probably hundreds of Chinese companies that operate in the US, why is tik tok signaled out?

Because it's an enormous company with a lot of influence on people. If they actually influence people in that way, I don't know but they could quite easily.

Personally I don't care about TikTok.

lud ,

The question is if anyone would buy it without the algorithm and the other stuff worth money. Users by themselves aren't very useful if everyone leaves after a day.

lud ,

If you help TikTok in that way you would absolutely get on the government's hit list (literal or not).

It would probably be quite easy to just make a new law or revision that stops the theoretical loophole.

lud ,

But how did you pay for the PO box? Using cash, think of the fingerprints. And don't forget about the post office spies

lud ,

Won't help with websites that (illegally) have cookies enabled by default.

lud ,

What about the cats?

lud ,

What about first party cookies?

lud ,

Or just use consent-o-matic

lud ,

Honestly? I wouldn't trust either.

lud ,

I guess. But as long as it's actually true and he actually believes that, I see no real issue with it.

lud ,

How is it any different for before the law? TikTok is a tech giant.

lud ,

The kinda depends on what SD card you buy. Don't buy crap cards.

Also SD cards work well enough for the Switch and Steam Deck, and that's objectively way more demanding than storing a few images on a phone.

lud ,

It's not like games just read once from the SD card and then remain in RAM

If what you said about android is true, then they should have fixed that instead.

lud ,

Do you use WSUS or anything similar to control updates?

But yeah I agree, copilot has no right to even look at Windows server.

What to be aware of before opening port 25 on a postfix Raspberry Pi?

I have a raspberry pi running postfix. I Realised unless I open port 25 I absolutely cannot receive emails (I have 587 open and can send but not receive them). However I heard there are scaries online which someone could potentially send emails from your server without consent. I believe as well my ISP doesn't block port 25. Is...

lud ,

To be fair, they said that you would need anti spam software and you do use anti spam software.

lud ,

Assuming you are correct it's still pretty crazy that they even considered anything even close to that.

lud ,

Maybe, I don't live there. But a social score is absolutely insane.

lud ,

Because there is seldom a good replacement for the majority of software that enterprises use.

'Vortex Cannon vs Drone' - Mark Rober shows off tech from a "defense technology company that specializes in advanced autonomous systems". That seems bad

I've enjoyed Mark Rober's videos for a while now. They are fun, touch on accessible topics, and have decent production value. But this recent video isn't sitting right with me...

lud ,

Why did they name a canon the same name as a flashlight OS?

lud ,

You don't need a static IP to host a VPN. You can do it using a dynamic DNS which updates the DNS records to match your IP when/if it changes. You do need a public IP though, so CGNAT goes straight out.

Ask: How do you handle your résumés?

Usually I rely on my network & haven’t needed this kind of document in ages, but I’ve been tasked with creating a résumé for myself. I’ve grown more privacy-conscious every year & I think it’s weird that we are expected to give out so much information about ourselves to companies that lie about their culture & don’t...

lud ,

Luckily I don't need to think too much about that anyways.

In my country lots of personal information is public information. If anyone knows my name they could very easily find my exact address and the names of everyone that lives at my address and their phone numbers, what me and they earn, and so on.

I'm only referring to information I consider to be "private" like phone numbers, names, addresses. Job history and such is not that private.

lud ,

It works very well for me still. I haven't noticed anything weird.

lud ,

It's not a scam though.

A "Fake" or "Citation needed" or similar stamp would be more appropriate.

Also I think you underestimate how cheap it is to print in black and white. Judging by the leaflet it's also a shit printer.

Hell, they could and probably are printing it at work.

lud ,

Please explain more.

lud ,

Why not? It's always convenient to have if you need to quickly fix or troubleshoot something.

But yes generally servers aren't accessed graphically.

lud ,

Yes that's because all companies pretty much use AD and exchange is also popular (but less so now with exchange online)

Both are also extremely valuable for companies and thus attackers.

Ransomware attacks pretty much always rely on missconfiguration and/or social engineering.

lud ,

Just get an iron. They can't be expensive.

lud ,

The thing is that Apple charges three kidneys per gigabyte over 8 GB.

lud ,

Where do you get a key for the price of a cup of coffee?
The ones I found are quite expensive.

lud ,

Yes a walled garden is bad (at least often). But I can see how this specifically is bad.

It's a good thing.

How is it typical apple behaviour to allow emulators?

lud ,

I use a different key for every device I need to connect to.

So my phone has separate keys for each SSH server and so does my desktop and laptop.

It's not the most convenient thing in the world but it's not too bad.

Most of the keys are without passphrase but the keys I use to connect to my VPS for example absolutely have a passphrase.

Read the article. It's about the EU.

X automatically changed 'Twitter' to 'X' in domain names, breaking legit URLs (mashable.com)

On Monday, it appears X attempted to encourage users to cease referring to it as Twitter and instead adopt the name X. Some users began noticing that posts viewed via X for iOS were changing any references of "Twitter.com" to "X.com" automatically....

lud ,

Did his child die?

lud ,

Shame on you for assuming anything that was not just sympathetic, but that didn't completely make him look like the ass he is.

Oh fuck of.

How the hell should I know that? I am not that invested in his life.

And sorry for not assuming the worst of absolutely everything?

lud ,

so long as it's not connected to the Ryzen's built-in USB controller.

Could you elaborate? Do you happen to have any theories as to why?

I have a zen 3 chip and while I'm not planning anything like this, I'm just curious.
