It's not an all-or-nothing situation, you already have vastly improved privacy :)

Btw you can suggest them the Briar messenger app. It can send messages via nearby peoples phones if they also have Briar. So if enough people installed it, a city could have it's own messaging network even when the official one is down

onion ,

It could work if clients/nodes would exchange data using other channel

That's exactly what it does

onion ,

Maybe you could suggest it to people who organize protest

Also Wikipedia is very well funded, there are a lot of smaller projects running on shoestring budgets

onion ,

Another option is to install StreetComplete on your phone and do something useful for society while on a walk

onion , (edited )

The gallon of milk makes it incredibly easy to divide it into quarters

How did you reach the conclusion that liters can't be halved or quartered? You could call 250ml a 'quart' if you wanted to.

Metric butter also has markings on it.

Those medical records should be stored digital anyways, and then it's a matter of a few man hours to tell the computer to convert them.

Each measurement system, US Customary or Metric, has it's own advantages and disadvantages.

Imo metric can do everything US customary can, but not the other way around, because it's missing the simple conversions. But that's it. Everything else is same same but different

Imperial is actually just a couple years older than US customary, it was predated by the "English units".

Imagine all of Europe copied Dutch transportation-, German prostitution- and Portugese drug-policies

There are pedestrian crossings that are not at an intersection but a straight road, where pressing the button does stop the cars for you to cross. There is no cycle, the cars have green until someone wants to cross

onion ,

Humans stole their fur. They often feel cold, which you can find praised as an "advantage" because they are "more cuddly"

As the Internet Gets Scarier, More Parents Keep Their Kids’ Photos Offline (getpocket.com)

Here's a non-paywalled link to an article published in the Washington Post a few days ago. It's great to see this kind of thing getting some mainstream attention. Young children have not made an informed decision about whether they want their photos posted online.

onion ,

For most people just worried about photos I would assume that's enough

If it's not fully automatic I won't stick with it
