"I've experiments to run, there is research to be done, for the people who are still alive." GlaDOS

Aww, it's nice that their company isn't all rainbow capitalism, that they are putting their money where their mouth is by funding research into reducing the suicide rate among the queer community...

...hmm?; What's that?

...n...no... *glances at GlaDOS* ...no...

radicalautonomy ,

Not sure if you are goofin', but that is a Tony Hawk level.

radicalautonomy ,

Goldfinger did a recording of Superman, Here in Your Bedroom, and a couple other songs during the pandemic.

radicalautonomy ,

Of course. He's the tough, smart lawyer who gets results.

Granted, I grew up in DFW and those commercials of his I watched in between episodes of Gomer Pyle, Hogans Heroes, I Dream of Jeannie, and Bewitched on KTVT Channel 11 (Fort Worth/Dallas) on days I stayed home sick are forever and indelibly etched into my memory.

radicalautonomy ,

"I'm feeling depressed" is not an uncommon query under capitalism run amok. "One Reddit user recommends jumping off the Golden Gate Bridge" is not just a weird answer, it is a wholly irresponsible one.

So, no, their response is not valid. It is entirely user-blaming in order to avoid culpability.

radicalautonomy ,

Fair enough. I know how easy it is to fake a Google search with inspect element. I've been trying to verify for myself how shitty it is, but AI Overviews don't seem to be showing up for me (I've done all the correct steps to enable it, but no searches generate results).

radicalautonomy ,

I am autistic.

Seriously, though, diagnosed autistic and I remember numbers exceptionally well.

  • ICQ number 6725571
  • Pi to 260 decimal places
  • My ex-wife's driver's license number
  • My 11-digit Blockbuster employee numbers from the two stores I used to work at
  • The nine-digit employee numbers of a few employees under me from when I worked at Six Flags in 1994

I taught my kids our address and my telephone number through songs when they were little. Music makes learning abstract things like that way easier. I teach the quadratic formula wihh a song to my Algebra students every year.

radicalautonomy OP , (edited )

Nimarata, because she is against trans kids using names of their own choosing, so she gets called the name her parents gave her.

Edit: Incidentally, I am iffy on this stance. If you'd care to attempt to change my mind about it, in the spirit of personal growth, I'd be open to hearing your opinion.

radicalautonomy ,

I gotta say, I am pleasantly surprised by Lemmy. I almost never see anything but antifascist allies, and when I do those allies jump that motherfucker's shit.

radicalautonomy ,

Lone Skum deadnames his child, you deadname his company. Fuck Skum, and fuck Twatter.

radicalautonomy ,

Came here specifically to say this, well remembered us.

radicalautonomy ,

Regarding point #2:

I am very particular about whom I allow into my circle of trust. That last 6% doesn't seem like much, but it is to me; if you don't believe every Nazi has a backpfeifengesicht, think capitalism should be "tweaked" instead of demolished, or complain about BLM or Pro-Palestinian protestors causing damage, then we're not gonna be best friends.

That being said, that 6% isn't nearly enough for me to consider you the enemy. Billionaires and the fascists they inspire are the enemies, and no attempt they make to divide and conquer us will ever be successful. I will march and scream alongside you in favor of the 94% we have in common.

Are you saying you want three boyfriends but for them to not be allowed to date anyone besides you? Because that's called a harem and I don't know anyone...male, female, or otherwise...who would be interested in something so inequitable.

If you'd not have a problem with your three boyfriends having other partners, then that is literally being polyamorous.

radicalautonomy ,

Agreed, but what I wrote wasn't intended to imply that at all. I posited two scenarios, both of which would require full knowledge and consent of all parties: OP has three boyfriends who know about one another but are not permitted to have other partners of their own (harem), and one in which they know about each other and are free to date other people (polyamory).

radicalautonomy ,

It's absolutely true. I'm polyamorous, and various women I've dated over the years have shared their dating app situations with me. Not one of them didn't have 999+ likes and/or a dozen messages from new men on that day alone (depending upon the app).

I prefer apps like Hinge and OKCupid. They allow me to tell more about what I'm about, and I get to learn more about them as well before I attempt to reach out. I've had fairly good success with both.

radicalautonomy ,

If I may, out of curiosity, you say it "might turn monogamous soon"; when you first started dating, what were each of your dating styles? Has one of you been more monogamously-minded than the other? Is one person more interested in monogamy than the other?

radicalautonomy ,

I saw my first one in the wild this morning in Dallas. Holy fuck is that a fugly-ass vehicle, and the dude driving it looked like a pretentious twunt.

See now, I'd have guessed it was another Nuni o-rig-in-all. He is a musical gennious.

If you work in hr there's about a 99℅ you are irredeemably evil.

That's a funny way to spell "If you are a billionaire".

radicalautonomy ,

I played Vanilla WoW a week after launch and was with it all the way up through Cataclysm Mists. After hearing about the multiple shocking incidences of sexual harassment and gender discrimination at Blizzard and upper management's unwillingness to stop it, it was quite easy to delete my Battle.net account and walk away. (Yeah I hadn't played in a while, but I'd intended to come back eventually.)

There are plenty of other games out there. You vote with your dollars, and your vote shows your character.

Fewer people are using Elon Musk’s X as the platform struggles to attract and keep users, according to analysts (www.nbcnews.com)

Data from two research firms and figures published by Musk and X suggest a deteriorating situation for X by some metrics. Musk has marketed it as the world’s “town square,” but in number of users it continues to lag far behind social media rivals that focus on video, such as Instagram and TikTok. ...

radicalautonomy ,

Right? I browse Twitter a lot and whenever I do I just kidding no I don't.

radicalautonomy ,

Or using a laugh react as a thumbs down.

radicalautonomy ,

My point was that a laugh react is meant to be a positive interaction (what you said was funny, and I enjoyed your contribution) but has been co-opted as a negative reaction (I'm laughing at what a willfully ignorant idiot you are) because FB only wanted to provide users with positive ways to react. My concern wasn't the level of negativity, only to provide the person to whom I was replying with a other example.

radicalautonomy ,

Those Sony WEGAs wear bananas. Mine weighed 99lbs. I remember.

radicalautonomy ,

I drove from Dallas to Toronto in 2017 (you know, for fun), and I was amazed not only at how trim almost everyone looked but also at how many fucking people were on bicycles. Coming from the concrete jungle that is DFW, it was genuinely inspiring.

YouTube Music team laid off by Google while workers testified to Austin City Council about working conditions (www.businessinsider.com)

YouTube Music team laid off by Google while workers testified to Austin City Council about working conditions::Some workers learned of the YouTube Music layoffs while testifying to the Austin city council about Google's refusal to negotiate with the union.

radicalautonomy ,

The National Labor Review Board ruled that Google was a co-employer of these union members and, thus, ruled that both Google and Cognizant had to come to the table to hammer out a bargaining agreement with them. Google refused. When this council resolution was put forth, Katherine McAden of Google Austin emailed the Austin City Council members on 02/28/24 to ask them to postpone the vote to "give Google, and the City Council, time to fully understand the direction of this item and potential local outcomes." The very next day (02/29/24), while two members were in the middle of testifying to the council, that was the exact moment Google fired the lot of them.

I don't see how much more open and shut you can get here.

Google refused that order. They did tell these employees to not worry about their contract ending, that it would be extended.

radicalautonomy ,

This is exactly what happened with these union members. The National Labor Review Board ruled that Google was a co-employer along with Cognizant, and they ruled that Google just come to the bargaining table with these union members. They refused. They emailed city council members asking for a postponement of their vote to give them time to sort stuff out, and it was granted. The very next day, the fired the entire union out of retaliation for speaking to the city council voicing their concerns.

radicalautonomy ,

They'd been working on this contract for five years. And the NLRB ruled that Google was a co-employer and must sit down with the union to work out a bargaining agreement. This firing was not to do with their job skills. It was entirely retaliatory.
